I had this in my cart multiple times over at VS and always bought other stuff instead. Now I’m glad I saved the money.
It wasn’t bad enough to be fun and it was just too boring and dull to be good.

^Yeah, I think I have seen this one before and remember it not being very good, though I truly remember nothing about it. I thought about checking it out again but appears the only way is a crummy Youtube upload or having to subscribe to Showtime for a decent version which means I will be skipping it. Glad to know I am not missing anything.

I had a lot of thoughts while watching this movie. It was ok, but it took a LONG time to get to its destination Donovan Leitch looks like a sleazy crystal meth salesman, so his "reveal" wasn't a surprise to me. Brad Pitt showed a lot of charisma in an early role and it's no wonder he's become the star he has... Jill Schoelen is one I always wonder about as I felt she could've had a longer and better career. I remember her more from The Stepfather and Popcorn, but she pretty much disappeared from acting in the early 90's. I had no idea she was engaged to Pitt at one time, either. The movie itself was kind of sluggish and boring until the final act.

I think I read that she dated Keanu Reeves after they starred together in Babes In Toyland then she was engaged to Pitt after this. Eventually she married and retired. Maybe her husband figured if she kept making movies, he’d be hittin the bricks.

I really didn't like the way all the adult males in the education system were sleezy creeps, perving on the young girls. Jeez, even Roddy McDowell's character. For me the film is poorly executed as well, with Pitt and Schoelen breathing the only life into it. Brenda James was okay as well. But all the creepy men really turned me off this one.

As far as the reveal, I was surprised.

A solid slasher from the late 1980's that has good characters, good kills, and an exciting finale. My only issue with the film is the film doesn't really get to the meat until the 40 minute mark. The film could have probably been trimmed by 10 minutes.

I thought this was really pretty good. Lots of red herrings and misdirection about the killer. I was actually surprised in the end. Tight script and well paced. Better than most teen slashers, IMHO.
I agree that it was gross that every adult male is perving on the teen girls. As if it's impossible NOT to perv on young girls. No, dude. Anyway. I really liked it.
FYI: I found Brad Pitt obnoxious. Of course, his character was obnoxious, but he fit it so well. LOL.

The cast made what otherwise would've been a forgettable and pointless movie worth watching (though I don't think this is one I'll want to revisit). Donovan Leitch had the good crazy eyes going
Was anyone else really intimidated when seeing movies set in high school as a preteen? Most movies had characters that just looked so much older than me, and had me worried that I'd look like some kind of stunted freak. Only later did I realize that the actors cast as high school students were typically in their 20's (or sometimes even in their 30's). Of course there were some exceptions (like John Hughes movies).

Man, but I hated hated hated this movie, and the hate started really, really early...when Jill Schoelen threw the unread newspaper in the trash after JUST sneaking out in her underwear to retrieve it. It seemed to me that the filmmakers had nothing but contempt for their audience and didn't care whether the characters had any motivation for anything that they did or were even remotely believable. Case in point: the math teacher, who seemed to only teach word problems involving trains. One would think that he would be an expert on locomotive-themed math problems, yet when confronted with the killer's math problem on the board, he doesn't automatically say that the problem is unsolvable as written. Putting Roddy McDowell in the Carmen Miranda hat was just inane, and it bothered me that Brad Pitt ripped the alarm system sticker off the door of the office, yet it was back on there the next day.
I found it to be awful in every imaginable way.
My subset film rankings for the Challenge thus far:
1. Slither
2. Witchfinder General
3. A Bay of Blood / The Spiral Staircase (averaged together)
4. Silent Madness
5. Road Games
6. The Severed Arm
7. Cutting Class

I've seen this one several times. It used to be on cable a bunch way back in the day. It's really bad and yet really watchable at the same time. The movie had a much better cast than it deserved. Brad Pitt was awful but still kinda dreamy.

I had a good bit of fun with this one. Brad Pit was a bit of a spoiler for me, because every time I saw him, I would comment, 'why Brad is in this movie?'
Martin Mull didn't really have much of a purpose here, other than to provide some comic relief and break up the story. It felt that it had been edited down a bit too much to remove some of the exposition as to how he got lost or maybe I just missed something.
Glad to see Roddy McDowall in this movie, but the teachers were creeps.

Cutting Class was serviceable and b-grade even by b-grade slasher standards; some of the kills were amusing (bleacher, photocopier were standouts) and it had a fun dated fashion sense but otherwise fell flat with such a small group of red herrings

Fairly standard and boring for the most part. Didn’t mind Pitt that much, but the adults constantly perving was gross. Noticed after I streamed it that I have the blu-ray, a prize pack from here iirc, so I’ll watch it at least once more someday I guess.
