Just wasted a trip across town to the Brooklyn Ctr. (Minneapolis) store. Found zero items that I wanted from last weekend's big list of new titles. First time that's happened at that store for me.

The Krull I have has an eco box case not a snapper case and the only thing I couldn't find from the special features listings was the production notes which I assume was on a missing leaflet.

There are two pages of special features with an arrow between them. Click on the comic for the Marvel adaptation.

Roger that!

It used to be fun to stop in a BL and find a pallet of Warner Classics for $3. Now all I tend to find is junk. I still buy a few items every now but it has been very dry for the last 6-8 months.

I wonder if BL will ever be able to get the Warner classic titles back due to the mix up with them last year.

I posted this earlier; my suspicion is that many of the higher quality liquidation dvd's are currently going to places like Oldies.com & Half Price Books because (I strongly suspect) they're willing to pay more at wholesale than BL is.

I also suspect BL is a bit gun shy re: high prices after getting shafted on the $6 kids batch & (to a lesser degree) on the $10 TV sets.

Worst Week - The Complete Series, Kath & Kim S1, UCB S1, and Andy Milonokas S1+S2 are all over the store in Williamsburg, VA and Hampton, Va. All I want is Wonder Showzen 2 and I can't find it anywhere.

I think it's nothing but down hill now for DVD's at Big Lots.
Just a gut feeling.

I did see several copies of A Minute To Pray, A Second To Die which I haven't seen in a long time at BL. Its a pretty solid spaghetti wesstern if anyone is into them.

I went to the Big Lots in Longview and Marshall, Texas yesterday. Longview had about a dozen copies of The Brown Bunny, and a few copies of Land of the Lost Season 3. Nothing noteworthy other than that.

Marshall didn't have much of anything new. They still have 2 endcaps worth of tv series though. I have a feeling that before long those Twin Peaks Season 2 dvd's will be on the clearance racks, because they can't give them away.

Still no Trekkies, and i've only seen two Rifftrax. I purchased the Night of the Living Dead one in Longview.

I may try to hit up the Lufkin Big Lots next.

A couple days ago, I snagged:

Ashes Of Time Redux
Better Luck Tomorrow
New York, New York: 30th Anniversary Edition
Rifftrax: Night Of The Living Dead
Talk To Her

$3 each

They also had a few copies of American Teen, Black Sunday (The John Frankenheimer film), and The Brown Bunny.

I'm planning a big run on the Greenville, SC area on Sunday. I hope to at least snag:

Arsenic & Old Lace
Krull
Lone Star
Runaway (if it's the Tom Selleck classic)
Rustler's Rhapsody (maybe)
any Wildboyz seasons from 2-3/4

(My tastes are pretty simple, lately.)

I think you are right (actually I pretty much know you are right, as I am busy buying them up over at Hamilton's) but keep in mind there is often very little rhyme or reason to when these titles come up for sale to stores. Overstocks tend to run very hot or very cold.

Sometimes there's multiple great studio lists floating around chock full of great titles with big quantities...then for months you might not see one decent list. So just because BL doesn't have much now doesn't mean they won't in the future.

What I find hilarious, is that Brown Bunny is basically pornography, & is mostly showing up in the South where historically state governments have been much tougher on porn than where I live (Pacific Northwest) & there haven't been any reports of it turning up here!

The Brown Bunny is not porn, but it does contain a graphic hardcore sex scene and I doubt that the management of Big Lots made a conscious decision that it was the type of merchandise they wanted to carry in their store.

I pity the fool who buys it thinking he's getting a film about bunny rabbits.

As I just described it to a friend (I have unfortunately sat through the entire movie) IMO It's 90 minutes of amazing boredom that makes Ed Wood look competent by comparison & 5 minutes of explicit porn from the gorgeous Ms Sevigny.

If someone takes the time to read the description of the film on the back of the box, It's pretty straightforward as to what type of film it is.

I picked up "Mogambo" and "Crossfire" at the East Greenbush NY store yesterday. The MGM/WB classics still show up occasionally.

"Brown Bunny" is in at least three stores locally and it cracks me up that BigLots probably wasn't aware what it had on/in their hands until we started speaking up. They have stocked the random NC-17 before ("Bad Education") but nothing this graphic.

Each Big Lots I've been to in the last few days has gotten a different shipment.

Just found a Big Lots I never knew existed. Anyone in the Southern New England area know about the one in Franklin, Mass. ??? Did the whole store locate thing on their website the other day and low and behold, there it was. Made the trip, and was pleasantly surprised at how much stuff they had. No Bunny though, damn it.
