Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

Seeing the recent activity in this thread, I figured I'd drop in to my local Dollar Tree since I happened to be nearby. For the first time ever, they had a DVD display almost front and center as you came into the store. It wasn't very full, so perhaps there was some decent stuff there at one point. I only saw 5 different titles (all mentioned previously) with multiple copies of each. Nothing I was interested in. I was thankful there wasn't anything I had purchased previously for more than $1.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

I must have missed these DVDs when I was in there the other day, but I found them today. I picked up:

The Net 2.0
The Great Debaters
Slipstream
American Gun
Alex Rider: Operation Stormbreaker
The Company

I'm glad I never found The Company at Big Lots and also passed on Slipstream there as well because paying $1 for each is better than $3 each.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

jbeeching,

Thanks for mentioning Beautiful, Ohio. I hadn't seen anything else of interest, but that's definitely a title that I've been looking for at $5-$6 or less (clearly this qualifies).

After reading your post, I checked out 3 stores, but found practically nothing. One store had 0 DVDs, another had only Slipstream and the third had Silver City & Lies & Alibis.

But everything turned out well anyway as I spotted a HC book that I had been looking to pick up. I had ordered it from Deep Discount for $7.99, but they canceled it and I was thinking that I'd have to buy it as a Bargain Book from Amazon for $10.38, but this one was in fair shape, and I'm quite pleased to have it for $1.09.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

I would have posted this earlier but my internet was out since early Friday.

Went there a second time this week and they put out some more new titles.

Since it's been a few days I have forgotten some titles, so here is what I can remember.
The Great Debaters (with Denzel Washington) 2- disc set, some with slip-covers
London
The Storm (I think this is that Sci-Fi channel made for tv movie with Luke Perry

A couple of Echo Bridge DVDs. MEGAFAULT & a double feature of DEAD MAN (one of my all-time favorites) + some shitty looking movie I don't remember.

And SILVER CITY.

The movie with DEAD MAN is TEXAS RANGERS and the ECHO BRIDGE DVD of DEAD MAN is non-anamorphic. Either seek out the old Miramax DVD or the Echo Bridge Blu-Ray, which is pretty good.

Fortunately, the old Miramax Dead Man is one of the first DVDs I ever bought.

So what kind of pair up is that anyway? Is Texas Rangers supposed to appeal to the Jim Jarmusch crowd? Yeesh. Artisan probably treated Ghost Dog with more dignity.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

I've bought a lot of DVD's at the Dollar Tree in Flourtown PA.

It's hit or miss.Sometimes they have a lot, sometimes nothing. They used to have a lot of the cardboard envelope public domain titles(I bought a lot of those)but nowdays when they have DVD's they are major studio & some indie titles.

Here's a list of some of what I found.
Konga
Attack of the Puppet People
Ballad of Jack &Rose
Standing in the Shadows of Motown(DVD or VHS)
Scary Movie 4
Barbershop 2
Prick up your Ears
Innocent Voices.
All these were shrinkwrapped. Most had a slash through the UPC code.I bought a lot more of these but I can't remember the titles off hand.I also found CD's by Bjork,Barenaked Ladies,Tift Merritt & Guns & Roses Chinese Democracy.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

These will be tough to get because it takes just one person interested in DVDs to blow through a whole store's stock.
