Just out of curiosity, what's 'facebook swap'?

Sorry for the super late response! It's a group on Facebook like "Southern St. Clair County Buy/Sell/Swap." The real purpose is to sell your stuff without a yard sale though some actually do request to buy things and even more rarely - trade them.

I called the one store I know is always "on time" with the Friday specials. They said this week is Hardcover Books. Here's hoping for next week!

They said this week is Hardcover Books.
And softcover ones too.

This week ranged from hangers to Rice Krispie treats. I called 5 stores total but none said there were DVDs. One employee even told me she didn't know what I meant by the special item of the week...

I found anautographed copy of Diane Keaton's memoir LET'S JUST SAY IT WASN'T PRETTY at Big Lots - I would imagine she's a tough autograph to get outside of a book signing.

It's on! Sorry, but I'm too exhausted to post details. 3/6 of the stores I visited stocked the DVDs as mandated by corporate, the rest are lazy fools (according to the manager of the 5th store I visited.) I know my local store won't bother until at least Monday.

There were also a lot of "Previously Viewed" DVDs with titles varying from store to store.

"Take Me Home Tonight" was entertaining.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

I'll post a full list once I've had time to put them all in some sort of order. I did pick up several BluRays that promised digital copies. I'll donate those discs since I have no way to play them. I watched The Secret Life of Walter Mitty just now - wow. I listened to the super-short audio book and thought it would have to be terrible. I'm very glad to have assumed wrong.

In other not-fun-news. I left my 2nd of 2 stores this morning and was trapped in their parking lot for 3 hours. My Jeep decided that its battery terminals were too corroded to start the vehicle or even take enough charge from a jump. I think that was my sign to be done with this sale now. I have to have bought over 100 DVDs, included many pre-owned (2 damaged enough to get flagged for future repairs.)

Not the best of sales, inventory-wise.

Went to three stores; only two had them out.

Picked up...

Jesse
Family Weekend
Echoes Of War
Prince Avalanche
Wet Bum

For cases, three copies of "Oceans 11" in full screen.

In the past I would take home, easy fifteen or more - from one store.

Mine was engine troubles at the parking lot of Best Buy... hunting an exclusive. Ended up having to be towed. Some years back.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

I'd say that the sales I encountered included too many of those resale discs. (Bad condition, skipped doctored, etc.) I'm much happier buying brand new Magnolia Discs. I even watch them! I hope I gain your level of self control one day.

As for my evil Jeep - we now have new battery terminals (hubby's first time changing them as I refused to cut things that looked so permanent.) That vehicle is now rotting in our driveway and won't be started again until next Wednesday. It it doesn't start, I get a vacation day. :P

Still fixable. I can imagine rotting, seen them - paint coming off, tires just tattered, on cinder blocks.

That's rotting.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

My sympathies on the car trouble.

I've been too busy to go out hunting much, but did pick up Take Me Home Tonight & Nobody Walks, neither of which I've seen. It did seem like each store got one each of some higher profile movies, like A Few Good Men, but nothing I needed. Generally there were a few titles I already own, or own from previous sales, which I would've bought otherwise, but a lot that I just didn't need.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

Yesterday, another store.

Took home seven more; mostly copies of "Oceans 11" and "Echoes Of War" for cases. Always need good case. And Black Friday is coming.

Also picked up:

Nobody Walks
The Whole Shebang

My local store still hasn't received their lot. I'll try again on Thursday.

The DT near me just broke out 2 boxes- same old stuff like "Walter Mitty"; "Shark Night", etc. along with one-off DVDs (picked up "Forces of Nature" & "Spiderman 2"... I wonder if this weekend it's their featured item?

Probably boxes they forgot to open/take out from the last sale.

It is quiet on new DVD shipments at my DT store.
P.S. I don't want someone rolling their eyes in either disgust or amusement at my sugar enlightenment

They had tons of new DVDs!!!

I grabbed a bunch.

If you are interested at all in getting.....

Spoiler:

......Replacement DVD cases then check it out, as they seem to have gotten in a big shipment of Jillian Michaels workout and Rodney Yee yoga DVDs.

These are decent, non-eco, sturdy cases, although they don't have the traditional DVD split button holder that I prefer.

Unfortunately, no new movies to report on.

As a side note...

Those are the budget cases I use for my adult titles.
