Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

My DT's in Pottstown,Pa. and Boyertown,Pa. didn't have zip even though they said they receive their shipments on Saturdays and put out the DVD's right away.

I wouldn't put it past some managers or employees selling the DVD's under the table like they use to do when there was a beanie baby craze. Even if they make say $.25 per item, it is capitalism plain and simple. And there is always a few titles that the flea market dealers don't want, resulting in 50 copies of "Dog Whisperer" or "Thirty Something".

I happened to be in a store in November/December 2011 when they just put out a large assortment of $1 DVD's resulting in my purchase of 45+ different titles.

When gasoline is near $4.00 per gallon, it doesn't make sense running around to all of the stores, and when I try calling the telephone numbers of the stores, the telephone keeps ringing with no one picking up.

My local store has a lot of Warner Bros. and Image Entertainment DVDs.

Image Entertainment:
Six Reasons Why
Careless
Alpha Male
The Tracey Fragments
The Walker
Lake Of Fire
What About Your Friends: Weekend Get-Away

Warner Bros.:
The Clique
Syriana (FS)
Superman; The Last Son Of Krypton
Appleseed Ex Machina
Watchmen: Tales Of The Black Freighter

also:

Heathcliff: Fish Tales
Horseland: The Fast And The Fearless
Little Tikes: Imagination and Play
In Bruges

In the CDs above the DVDs, they had the DVD Disturbed: Indestructible in Germany.

And by the DVDs was a bunch of 3D glasses with green/red lenses "for 3D televisions".

Out of curiosity, are all of these titles that people are mentioning above full sized or slim DVD case movies found in the "electronics" aisle or a special bin somewhere else?

I was at my DT last week and they had absolutely no full sized DVD case movies on sale... just slims. Since I had issues trading in slims for U&S at BB in the past, I never touch slims.

All that I bought were in full-sized cases; all were also on the "electronics" aisle.

One DT(In Fayetteville GA) had them on a metal display up front(They had something like 30 copies of Til Death) another in Riverdale just had 2 titles, Dog Whisperer and something else that was so uninteresting I forgot, back in Electronics.
Oh, what does U&S stand for?

Uprade and save. Promo at Best Buy where you bring in any commercial DVD (not porn) and get $5 off any blu-ray priced $9.99 or higher. Last promo ended a few weeks ago and next one might come up in fall sometime.

Ah, thanks! I thought I saw U&S and BB, was thinking it was another chain store, perhaps just on the west coast. Yeah, I'm kinda stupid. ;)

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

All the DTs that I went to almost always have either a dump near the front door or big metal bins near the registers...

Only the cheap slims and excess "Dog Whisperers" are relegated to the 'electronics' aisle...

Rumor is that October 7th is the start of the next round of U&S.
If my DT store has a metal DVD bin, it must be well hidden because I've never seen it. All I see is the little selection of 99% slim case DVDs of stuff I've never heard of before in the electronics aisle.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

Finally found some new DVDs this morning. I picked up:

Kelly Clarkson: Behind Hazel Eyes
Moscow Heat
Hey Vern, It's Ernest!: The Complete Series
Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist
Brian's Song (2002)
Storm Hawks Collector's Set: Heroes of the Sky
Dixie Chicks: Shut Up & Sing (Full Screen Edition)
Notes on a Scandal
Missionary Man
21 Jump Street: The Complete First Season
The Man Who Loved Women
The Road to Guantanamo
The Forgotten/Gattaca (Sci-Fi Double Feature)

I bought Missionary Man the last time Sony titles showed up, but I'm not sure if it's worth trying to exchange it. I may just use it for the next U&S.

Haven't found too many dvd titles. Basically some of the one's mentioned in this thread but I did see the Ron Santo story in store but not mentioned here.

Also, they've had some CD's from artists I've actually heard of. Guns & Roses: Chinese Democracy and REO Speedwagon: Find Your Own Way Home

Which Envall did you find? Keep in mind, I live in Bakersfield so me actually finding a redneck item at the dollar store is likely impossible! :)

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

I found another Dollar Tree with DVDs and picked up:

Missionary Man
The Forgotten/Gattaca
The Man Who Loved Women
My One and Only

Once again there were a ton of the Dog Whisperer DVDs.

Interestingly, the 'My One and Only' DVD had a "only at Target" sticker on the cover. Is that where these are coming from?

I watched Missionary Man tonight and really enjoyed it. From the first batch I picked up - I thought Moscow Heat was an okay time killer and the Kelly Clarkson DVD was a dud.
