Same deal for people who might be buying Dawson's Creek for $47.98 ($8 a season). I think I may take the plunge on The Shield set if replacing them turns out this easy.

V.I.P. was actually pretty good. It had plenty of humor, and mocked itself without falling into camp.

Add me to the list of folks who received The Shield in the crapackaging. I called the Sony toll free number and they were polite and helpful. I had to give them my address, phone # and email address. The guy even asked me if I purchased it at DD. Apparently, they are getting a lot of calls from those of us who took advantage of the sale. The call didn't take more than 3 minutes.

surprised there aren't more people putting a lot of exclamation points after this one....that's about $8 cheaper than the lowest price it's EVER been since it was released. insane deal at $24 and perhaps the best of all the Sony box sets they've put out.

and it's back in stock as mine shipped yesterday

VIP is a fun, campy show and Pam Anderson has a great sense of humor about herself. No one is taking themselves too seriously here. If you like slightly cheesy detective romps set in semi-tropical locations--think Tropical Heat, Acapulco HEAT, even Magnum--you'll probably enjoy VIP. And this is a pretty good price.

I'm sending my Shield set off to Sony later today. I'm hoping to get my new set within the next 2 weeks so I can get back to watching it. A pretty painless return process other than taking it to a Fed-Ex location.

Re: DD - Up to 64% off Sony Box Sets

Recieved my order of Bewitched S1-8 and All in the Family S1-6 in 4 days after they shipped out. Yet it takes 2 weeks or longer to get a single ordered DVD from DD!!! Go figure-

Re: DD - Up to 64% off Sony Box Sets

Is it better to get the individual seasons of the Shield or buy the complete set?

Since they said on here you can send it off for a new copy & someone actually said in their review on AMAZON they got a mint one when they sent it off, I'd go with the complete set if I were you (and I did). I had 4 seasons already but I figured at $63.98 ($9.14 a season) it was a no brainer to buy it for the other 3 seasons plus I could probably sell my single seasons off to a coworker to pay for most of that.

Anything you *might* have to return for a new copy because of shoddy packaging isn't worth buying if there's a suitable alternative. The individual seasons have nice slim case packaging, and I think that's worth the extra cost.

$149.86 (to buy seperately)
- $63.98 (to buy set)
= $85.88 saved

If you get a bad set, call Sony not DD. They'll send you a label to send it back FedEx.
Sony phone number and email address.

Re: DD - Up to 64% off Sony Box Sets

It's not even close. I bought the Shield Complete series and, even though I had to return it to Sony, I would do the same again even if I knew in advance I would have to return it. All it cost me was a 5 minute phone call to Sony, 3 minutes to put it back in the box and tape it shut, and a 5 mile drive to Fedex. Sony provided free return shipping via a label sent by email. That's not much effort for an $85 savings. And I'm not in such a hurry to watch it that a few more days without it will make a difference.

And The Shield set is a very nice set despite the disc problems. In this day and age of shelf space at a premium and money being tighter this is the better of the two options.

I know Three Stooges Collection, Vol. 7: 1952-1954 (2 Discs) is on backorder but I'd order it for $10.98

Also I just received Dawson's Creek for $47.98 ($8 a season) and they came in the little paper protectors. I took the plunge on The Shield set and can't wait to get it. I was really impressed with the Dawson's Creek set especially for $48. Maybe we'll get lucky and the new batches of The Shield will already be fixed.

Re: DD - Up to 64% off Sony Box Sets

I went ahead and ordered Seinfeld complete series at the buzzer with a $5 coupon they gave me. However it didn't apply and I opened up an account with ****** and got $5 and 2.5% cash back. I have to call them to get that credited and I'm still waiting on the shield complete series is anyone else still waiting on this??

Re: DD - Up to 64% off Sony Box Sets

just got my ICONS OF TOHO disc. I cannot believe the packaging of this thing. 3 movies, each on their own disc (yeah!) but stacked on top of each other on one spindle? Are you kidding me? Isn't this the worst way to store movies - stacked on top of each other?

Actually, wouldn't it be the best, as long as it was a good hub?

Multiple hubs means more chance for floaters. Everything on one spindle seems to produce fewer floaters in my experieince with them, and just using common sense.

Re: DD - Up to 64% off Sony Box Sets

^It *is* a good hub, but it's a bother to get to films in the stack. I typically take them all out when watching and carefully put them back when done. If I were going to be watching these on a very regular basis I'd be looking for a different case in which to store them.

Got the Norman Lear set and it too is cardboard sleeves... some discs have the rubber cement like glue, which I will try to clean off.
