AMAZON Black Friday Week Bargains

Re: AMAZON Black Friday Week Bargains
I have been waiting since Sunday for this to happen. Seems like they are only matching season 1. I might just bite the bullet and pay the 2.50 shipping at bestbuy.com if Amazon doesn't price match by the end of the day. Since the sale at BB ends today. I can see Amazon raising all the seasons back to $ 30 + tomorrow unless they have there own sale planned later in the week.

Of course I suppose you could order the $12.99 and get the Anamorphic version. who knows.
The sets I saw at Best Buy were all marked widescreen with no mention of enhanced for wide screen TV. I assume this is the old version unless Universal didn't update the box. Has anyone bought Season 1 at Best Buy to confirm they are selling the old version of Season 1 ?

It's their best work in a long time, and I like their recent stuff too. In a lot of ways it's like the late 80s again listening to this...but in a good way. They are back to full on "arena rock" as opposed to some of the different genres they had been dabbling in lately.

Midnight, theoretically. Personally I wouldn't hold one very long though, particularly if it's a popular item.

Same happened with GTA 4 X360 and Godfather 2 PS3. I managed to get GTA 4 but wasn't quick enough on Godfather 2 (which is no big loss as the reviews for it aren't that great).

Are you sure you can wait until midnight when the deals have limited time ranges? I'd be afraid to risk that.
Regarding the lightning deals, is the biggest part of the battle getting it into your cart or submitting the order? Each time I've bought something I went all the way through and submitted while risking other stuff selling out because I didn't want to take the time to backtrack and add another lightning deal to my cart.
The last few popular deals I noticed that mine got stuck at waiting in line and it looked like it was about to hit 100%. I then clicked on my cart and it was already in there. Is this a common occurrence? When it seems stuck at "waiting in line", should you keep waiting to be taken to your cart or try jumping to the cart early? I'm not sure which way is safer.

I did have something in my cart yesterday and it was still there about an hour after they sold out. But I wouldn't take any chances with something I wanted really bad.

Quoting from the link above (boldface by me - this paragraph is new to the Lightning Deal "TOS"):
"4. Complete your order through the Shopping Cart as soon as possible after claiming the Lightning Deal. Note: Lightning Deal promotional discounts are only valid until midnight Pacific Time the day claimed and will expire. We cannot honor a Lightning Deal promotional discount after it expires or if the item sells out before you complete your order. Quantities of some items may be limited, and adding an item to your cart does not reserve that item for you."
So now a Lightning Deal is really no better than a Gold Box deal. It *can* sell out or amazon can choose to have it sell out if they over estimated the claim vs. order ratio. I'm not saying they'll do this as it's highly unethical... but we're talking about amazon here...
The biggest battle *typically* is getting the "deal" in your cart. After that it's a crap shoot as to whether or not it'll "sell out" before you complete the checkout process.
According to the link again, if you jump early you'll risk losing your "place in line" and my lose out on the deal. I'd use a separate tab to keep up with things.

I picked up House season 4 for a gift. Glad I waited. Now I just need to get Gossip Girl season 2 for a gift. Braveheart, Gladiator, and Monster vs Aliens Blu-ray for myself . Maybe Boondock Saints if its cheap enough since I ordered Fight Club on its own and missed the combo deal they had.

Just picked up Zack and Miri 2-disc for $3.99 - the only dvd I was interested in during this sale. Having prime didn't hurt, but being charged tax in NY did.

Re: AMAZON Black Friday Week Bargains
There are 2 listings for House Season 1 at Amazon. One for $12.99, the old Non Anamorphic and the Anamorphic for $19.49.

Of course I suppose you could order the $12.99 and get the Anamorphic version. who knows.
The sets I saw at Best Buy were all marked widescreen with no mention of enhanced for wide screen TV. I assume this is the old version unless Universal didn't update the box.

I remember House M.D. Season 1 and 2 being sold in a 2-pack at Target. I wonder if the season 1 of the 2-pack was the old non-anamorphic version and hopefully by now Universal Studios is supplying retailers with the new anamorphic version?
The $12.99 Amazon version has a customer review dated July 20, 2009 stating that he/she received the single sided anamorphic discs.
Just above it, another customer review dated August 23, 2009 stating that he/she received the dual sided (non-anamorphic) discs.
This is really a crap shoot...

Re: AMAZON Black Friday Week Bargains
Is the "consensus" belief that all the $10 Blu-Rays pictured beneath the Amazon Black Friday calendar (like Braveheart) are supposed to go to $10 at Thursday midnight PST? And these will or will not be lightning deals or Gold Box deals?
I had hoped to be able to sleep in tomorrow...

I hope this has not been pointed out, but the Dark Knight Batpod that's a lightening deal for 32.49 (what a joke!) can be had for around $19 shipped throught Amazon Marketplace.

I'm really surprised 'Fast and Furious' Blu-ray topped out at 38%. I really thought this was going to go just as well as the 'Wolverine' Blu-ray. I even woke up early for the deal.

I had "Fast & Furious" Blu in my cart waiting to get a deal at 4:00 to get the free shipping, and the price went up in my cart. Apparently waiting until later was not a good idea.
