Re: Big Lots Part 5

The only local Big Lots I am around is a bit out of the way so I hate to make a special trip, but I was wondering if anyone knew what type of delivery schedule they had. I went yesterday afternoon and it was pretty much a bust, but I keep hearing about all the goodies at various other stores and I'm so tempted to make the run down there tommorow. I'm in Arkansas if anyone else is, Jonesboro to be exact.

I don't know about that particular location, but I do know that the BL here gets their truck on Wednesday. I asked the Asst. Mgr yesterday if they got any DVD's in and she said that she knew for a fact that they didn't. Then I go today and they are putting a bunch of the $3 seasons out. I asked a regular employee when they got them and she said they came in on the Wed truck.

Only multiple daily trips seems to work cause the employees don't seem to know what's going on.

Re: Big Lots Part 5

I went to the Big Lots south of Boston and nothing new. I asked one of the cashiers if they were gonna put out more stuff tomorrow and again she claimed everything they got from the truck was put out already.

Which is not true because one Sunday when we went there was nothing and then on Monday morning there was a bunch of new DVDs , so it seems like maybe they keep the employees in the dark but I bet they get more than one shipment of DVDs when their truck pulls in and they put the stuff out in increments.
Maybe they don't want to flood the floor with merchandise?...I'll tell ya every time I am there they are unloading boxes of something.

Re: Big Lots Part 5

Panama City, Florida store had West Wing, Joey, Pinky and the Brain, OC, Knots Landing, Jamie Foxx, Life Goes On sets. A couple NFL and Super Bowl sets too. And a Scooby Doo (animated) set.

The racks were overflowing with titles, so were double copies, but there was a lot of singles too.

They had the 50 movie sets: Crime, Horror, Musicals.

Picked up The Quiet and Waiting for Guffman for 3.00. Love the latter, so hell of a deal for me.

Saw December Boys with Danielle Radcliffe, and Dreamland with Justin Long for 3.00 each.

Re: Big Lots Part 5

Just curious what are these $3 sets. I have been paying $6 for Tracey take one sets as well as the Wait Till you Father Gets Home.

Are they different prices at different Big Lots?

Re: Big Lots Part 5

Went to two different Big Lots stores today (Burlington and Concord, NC). I picked up the LA Lakers set, The Butcher Boy, Popeye: Vol. 1, Pinky and the Brain: Vol. 2 and God, the Devil and Bob. I can't wait to use the 20% coupon tomorrow. I just hope I find the Hanna Barbera sets.

Just go back through this thread, doctaheath, as well as the last few pages of the Part 4 thread (it's referenced in the OP). Recently, Big Lots! have started to receive a bunch of new sets, many of which are Hanna Barbera animated ones. They're priced at $3.

Re: Big Lots Part 5

In the past we have had a few posters from up in the great
Pacific Northwest. Representing Seattle, Tri-Cities, Vancouver(Wa),
Portland and PDX Metro. Are you guys and gals seing any of the
Wonder Woman complete sets, Kubrick complete sets, Looney Tunes,
Etc. I was looking over the West Coast threads and seen alot of
info from the the California posters. But didn't notice any news
from the Oregon & Washington posters.

I almost forgot to ask........has the tv show Curb Your Enthusiasm
been showing up at BL's (anywhere)? And if so what seasons?
Thanks.

Re: Big Lots Part 5

Is selling dvd's to FYE that popular or profitable?

I have never liked shopping in FYE due to the fact of their high prices, extremely high.

I have noticed their used items are as high as new internet orders on same item.

If FYE is seeing the same dvd's showing up in their stores in large quantities looks like they would stop buying or get wise to the situation, especially if someone is stupid enough to walk into a store with the Big Lots price tag still attached.

But I dunno

I hit up the Conway, SC Big Lots store tonight and it had more dvd's than I have ever seen in any BL. Not much as far as tv shows go but plenty of WB titles.

I'm into classics so I picked up:

G-Men
My Reputation
Ride the High Country
MC-Q
Each Dawn I Die

Plenty of all titles left except : Ride the High Country -- only copy that I saw

I have found that the employees will not tell you (the truth anyway) if there is anything left in the back from the most recent shipment they received. It is all a matter of knowing the delivery schedule of a specific store. In my case, I was fortunate enough to get the store delivery schedules from someone I know which really helped.

A previous poster said "Early bird gets the worm." which is true but knowing when to get the worm is even better because timing is everything.

Re: Big Lots Part 5

Hi, everyone! I'm a newbie who loves this site!

What DVD box sets that are $3 and $10 have those of you in Virginia found in Big Lots, and in what location? I haven't seen any of them in Richmond.

I was in that store one week ago today. At that time they had lots of the box sets like Pinky and The Brain, Animaniacs, LA Lakers, History of Rock and Roll, Joey Season 1, and so on.

I plan on getting to Big Lots at opening time. Do you guys think there will be a good chance of restocks/new stuff in stores for the sale tomorrow? By the way, I'm in Central Jersey.

Yeah tell me about it lol. It's a little ridiculous at this point, it seems like every state has at least gotten a taste of all the good fortune. The Northeast still has to walk into our Big Lots' and just see one too many copies of Season 1 of Joey lol.

Yeah Jersey is really getting hit hard with nothing! It would be a miracle if I could walk into Big Lots tomorrow and snag me some Looney Tunes Vol. 1-5 set plus Vol. 6 and most of the Hanna-Barbera sets... see I said most, not all, I'm not being greedy lol.
