Re: Big Lots Part 5

The Big Lots store in St. Peters, MO againg has nothing left.
They did however have a huge selection of Nickleodeon and Nick Jr. titles.
I saw Little Bear titles, Blues Clues, Airbender, etc.
Probably over 100 copies or more.

Thanks for the heads up! I'll have Monday evening to kill, so a road trip isn't out of the question.

I was there, today. picked up birdman, some adv. or superman, and the last appleseed steelbox.

I think almost all the lois and clarks were there, almost flinstones 1-6, I think, some seasons were opened.
Also:
Jacques Cousteau River exp
Tom and Jerry Packs
couple of super friends
everwood
adventures of superman
popeye
Thanks for the info! I just went there and got:

The Flinstones seasons 1-3
Lois & Clark seasons 3 and 4
Superman the Theatrical serials
Popeye
Challenge of the Super Friends
Super Friends the Legendary Super Powers Show
Josie and the Pussycats
Wacky Races
Dastardly & Muttley
Top Cat
Animaniacs vol 2
Pinky and the Brain vol 2

There are still plenty of copies of the Flintstones season 1-3 and Popeye left, but most of the stuff I got was either the last copy or there was one left. I still would like to find season 2 of Lois & Clark. It would be nice to pick up the last 3 seasons for half of what I paid for the first.

Re: Big Lots Part 5

I called Ricmond, KY this morning and spoke to a manager to see if it was worth my time to drive up for a look-see at lunch (I was there yesterday). He said there hadn't been a restock, that what I saw yesterday was all they had left of the TV DVDs (i.e. none in back). I'm wondering if the supply is beginning to dry up? He said that "for awhile", they were getting so many they were stocking them every few days, but now they don't have any to fill it back up with.

Believe me there is TONS of this stuff. Litterally, the amount was somewhere in the range of 2,000,000 boxsets and singles that warner dumped on the market-

2 million boxsets and singles is not that much per store, especially when you consider the resellers that will swoop in and grab everything.

According to the Biglots website, they have 1,339 stores in 47 states. Divide 1,339 stores by 2 million boxsets/singles you get about 1,494 boxsets/singles per store.

If you assume that there are about 100 different titles in this Warner Bros deal, then that's about 15 copies per store. If there are about 200 different titles in the deal, then that's only about 8 titles per store.

Hmmm, better get out there and start looking for more....

Re: Big Lots Part 5

There are still a few more titles coming, Droopy being one of them, that one wasnt massive in the "buy out" if it would be called that. All of these items are target/walmart/etc returns.

Look at the back of the Kubrick set, it has a target sticker on it-

Re: Big Lots Part 5

If anyone has any info around the Orange County (CA) area that would awesome. I'll report so far.

I went to the Pasadena and Alahambra, CA big lots and they were gutted. All they have left are the usuals (Joey, Dukes, Dallas, crap, crap , crap, etc.) I did managed to find Perils of Penelope Pitstop and Appleseed Machina CE under the heap of DVDs that looked like a tornado ran through them (like most of the Big Lots DVD sections m'rite guys?!)

Sadly, the breakdown includes 1.97 million Joey Season 1 sets.

I went to 3 Biglots today and hit the jackpot for Hanna Barbera Sets

Wacky Races
Dastardly & Muttley
The Periles of Penelope Pitstop
Popeye Vol 1 (very happy about this one)
Superfriends Vol 2
Superman TAS Vol. 1
Kung-Fu Season 3

Sadly no Lois & Clark which I really wanted.

Re: Big Lots Part 5

Well, since Monday I have been to a buttload of the Dallas stores, including:
  • Skillman & Abrams
  • Plano Road & Buckingham
  • Garland Road
  • West 15th Street (Plano)
  • Forest Lane & Marsh
  • Valley View & Josey Lane
  • Centerville Road & Northwest Hwy.
  • Gus Thomasson (Mesquite)
  • Airport Frwy & MacArthur

and none of them have SQUAT. I don't know if North Texas just got left out of the restock program or what, but this is sad... Many of the stores look like they have the same stuff I saw the last time I came in a couple of months ago.

Anyone have extra copies of TALES FROM THE CRYPT Season 1 and/or 7 they're willing to part with for a reasonable price plus shipping & packaging?

Re: Big Lots Part 5

NH update:

I think all the stores have these $3 sets on display now. Still no $10 sets spotted.

Portsmouth (9:00 this morning):
Nothing out yet, but they were making more space on the usual wire dvd rack, hopefully for some sets. Not sure if they are going to make another end cap for this wave of sets like the first wave last week. This could be a problem getting stock as there isn't much room on the rack. Or they could just be making room for the newest NL/WB regular dvd assortment.

Goffstown:
Pretty big restock.
Appleseed Ex Machina (steelbook)
Flintstones S1-6
Popeye V1
Everwood S1
Superfriends S1
Tales From The Crypt S1-5
Birdman
Dastardly And Muttley
Josie And The Pussycats
Pebbles And Bamm-Bamm
WBHE AE Animation Collection
Lois & Clark S1-3
Adventures Of Superman S1-6
Larry King Interviews
..and I found a lone copy of ER S6 on the wire rack.

Nashua:
Small restock:
Flintstones S3
War At Home S1
Jacques Cousteau River Explorations
Tom & Jerry Double Feature (The Magic Ring/Tom & Jerry Tales V1)
Tom & Jerry Double Feature (Hijinks and Shrieks/Blast Off To Mars)
Still plenty copies of Tracey Takes On... S2 and Dukes S4,5, West Wing S2. I think their problem is they have a small amount of space on the wire rack and they are just putting out stock as there is room to fit.

Derry:
Decent restock, saw some stuff here I haven't seen elsewhere:
Peanuts Deluxe Holiday Collection (It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown/A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving/A Charlie Brown Christmas)
Powerpuff Girls Complete Collection
Appleseed Ex Machina (steelbook)
Batman Vs. Dracula (with action figures)
Perils Of Penelope Pitstop
Johnny Quest S1
Wacky Races
Dastardly & Muttley
Veronica Mars S2
Flintstones S2,3
Tales From The Crypt S3,4,5
Lois & Clark S1-4
Adventures Of Superman S1-6
Larry King Interviews
Tom & Jerry 2-Pack (Shiver Me Whiskers/Blast Off To Mars)
...also some of the newest NL/WB regular movies are showing up too:
Highwaymen
Dinner Rush
Cat People
Shine
Happy Campers
Heaven's Prisoners
The Upside Of Anger
State And Main
About Schmidt
Highway
Blink
Kansas City

It seems that every store I've been to has tons of Joey S1. Even the resellers don't want Joey...

Well there's no room on those wire racks for anything new.

Will somebody please buy up the remaining Joeys and Westwings so that they can restock with the sets we all want?

I have to hold myself back from sneaking into the stock room while wearing my ninja costume and searching for any boxsets that may be hiding there. Probably more WWs and Joeys (DOH!)

The store in Colonie, NY had plenty of Joey S1 yesterday (about 10 sets or so) but there was only 1 left today. I was surprised to see them all gone.

Re: Big Lots Part 5

The Joey sets really crack me up.

I've never seen the show, but it must be total crap when you have complete seasons of it that NOBODY wants for even 3 bucks.

People are buying up Life goes on sets faster than the Joeys....ha ha ha

Actually, I've seen a title with more stock than "Joey" at every BL! Something called "Security Device Enclosed."

Re: Big Lots Part 5

You know, Joey actually isn't that bad. Granted, I've only watched the first 4 episodes, but I've gotta say what I've seen is pretty watchable.

Cary, NC store had nothing new today. I did see a lone Pinky and the Brain vol.2 which I don't remember seeing before, but it sounded like it contained a loose disc or two.

The problem might also be that there is a second season that was never released on DVD.
