Re: Big Lots Part 4

went back looking to see if there was any chance of seeing that kubrick 10 dollar set. they had some restock but the only thing i wanted was the third season of six feet under which i gladly grabbed. i would love to find the 2nd or 4th volumes of batman TAS if they pop up at all.

I was at those same two stores on Sunday morning before 12:00 PM. At the St. Charles Rock Road store the selection was piss poor. Dukes of Hazzard seasons 5 and 6, Night Court and West Wing sets and thats about it.

Pickings were a little better at the St. Peters store. I picked up the only copies of The Super Friends Legendary Super Powers and Challenge of the Super Friends sets I saw. Also picked up The History of Rock and Roll, Los Angeles Lakers set, NFL Hall of Fame/85 Years of Greatness, Super Bowl 21-30, and The New Scooby Doo Movies set. No blu-ray sets or Looney Tunes sets. No Tales From the Crypt or Wonder Woman sets. Someone beat me to the only copy of Thundercats season one. I saw it in his hand.

Re: Big Lots Part 4

I guess I need to make a trip today and check out the 3 Big Lots and see what I can find. How much was the Popeye set and how many did they have where u picked it up? What sucks is that most of the Big Lots here in Fresno never get much of this stuff.

Re: Big Lots Part 4

hey just wanted to give you a heads up i was in big lots earlier tonight the hollywood store manager said they are not getting any new stock of anything (not just videos but electronics, homeware, etc) as the store is closing on aug 31st. also she said one other the culver city store was closing mid sept, and the downtown La store on 7th street and the burbank store would be closing before the end of the year.

but she didnt know about how the other stores shipments would be, she also said the hollywood store on vine street is definately not getting any new stock in at all, and in fact they will begin diverting merchandise on the shelfs allready to other stores in the comming weeks.(also said there are no plans for any liquidation sales at this store)

this came from the main store manager of the vine steet location in hollywood

The Popeye set is $3 and the store here had about 10-15 copies.

Hence the reason why I've been making 2-3 trips a day to Big Lots.

That's wild the cashier here in the Boston area told me that they were opening two more new stores in the area.
She went on to say they (big lots) were doing great .

Did the cashier mention where they may open?

Yes ,close to me Thank God.

Raynham on Rt.44 across from the Bennies and North Attleboro she didn't say where in North Attleboro but there are a lot of vacancies especially where Circuit City was and there are a few other vacancies in that plaza.

She said the Raynham store would open at end of the month or very beginning of August.

I stopped by both stores in Huntsville yesterday. The south Huntsville store had nothing new, but the north Huntsville store had gotten in the new Warner $3 restock (but none of the new box sets reported this week.) I ran into a friend there, and we scoured the selection. I left with:

Haunted Gold (The John Wayne Collection)
Infamous
Jamboree
(last copy they had)
The Last Voyage
Madame Curie
(last copy they had)
Mister Roberts (last copy they had, I think)
The Right Stuff: Two-Disc Special Edition (last copy they had)
The Telegraph Trail (The John Wayne Collection)
Up the Down Staircase
Where Eagles Dare

And while I was there, a guy came in, grabbed a cart and then proceeded to take all the copies (about a dozen) of Dukes of Hazzard S6 off the rack before heading to the cardboard bin.

Dear Doctor Phibes: Perhaps they didn't teach you this in the evil medical school you went to. When you see the unopened case you don't come back later, you open it yourself. then you get 1rst pick of everything inside. its called Nirvana!

Wow, that's interesting. I guess they're going to tear it down and put up more hi-rise condos. Gosh, that area of Hollywood is soo cool now.

Re: Big Lots Part 4

I have yet to run into the "Wonder Woman" box set or any of the "Tales From The Crypt".

The Colton, CA store has a ton of "The Flintstones: The Complete Second Season".

The one in San Bernardino had a bunch of those Mill Creek collections.

I asked an employee at one of the Dayton, OH stores if he knew anything about the cartoon sets for $3.00 like Wacky Races/Top Cat/Flintstones and he said he thought those are to be in the Sunday July 26th ad. I'm going to keep checking often but hopefully the sets really are due soon here.

Try Moreno Valley and Riverside on Arlington if it's not too far, I've seen'em somewhat recently.

Re: Big Lots Part 4

I bumped into "John Galt" at the Cary, NC store this morning - kinda suspected I would considering they had the motherlode (but still no Roots!). I was happy to get Tales from the Crypt 2, 3, 4 & 5; some Flintstones and other Hanna-Barbara (but no Johnny Quest) and Popeye. I also stopped at the Durham, NC store on Hwy 55; it looked like some new stock, but not much from a few days ago. I grabbed a couple of Judy Garland titles for $3 and Joan Crawford's "Humoresque" (don't know how I missed that one before). No "Cabin in the Sky" (another title on my list to get).

Any reports on BL's in Greensboro or Winston-Salem, NC?

Peter
