Most, if not all, of those MC 40/50 title sets recently went OOP. That's probably why they're showing up at BL.

Re: Big Lots Part 4

all this stuff came from a massive liquidation on part of WB. Its all store return items. Alot of it is walmart returns and Transworld stuff.

Most of the "good" stuff came thru but the people whom gave it up still sat on the Hitchcock boxes and Superman LTD tin sets and such.

There are other sets too like droopy and such, but time will tell if they will actually hit the big lots or not.

New today, Butler,PA.
"Back again?," said the saleslady.
About 10-15 copies of Flintstones S3. That's about it.

Picked up:

The Last Time I Committed Suicide
Body Shots
The Player
Imaginary Crimes

No Blu-Rays, No $10 sets, & a shitty selection of the box sets/TV shows....

Re: Big Lots Part 4

went back to the local BLs... and one was exactly as I saw it last... except with much less stock.... the other one... well... did not have any of the $10 collections or $3 box sets.... but they had a tiny tiny restock... and had many of the seasons of friends that I and a friend are looking for... so a good stop... still need some to finish the set.... just hope that the complete doesn't end up being there for $10... that would be great and suck at the same time...

Re: Big Lots Part 4

Lexington, KY update... New stock.

Eastland: War at Home S1 ($3), a few Mill Creek 50's ($9), Tracey Takes On S1 ($3).

Turfland: War at Home S1, Tracey Takes On S1, Super Friends V2, Popeye V1 (10 copies - $3), more $3 movies assorted. 1 Smallville S7 Blu that I returned since it didn't move here in the exchange forum.

Both stores have been seriously picked over... None of the Hanna-Barbera or the $10 sets left. Mass buying from the previously unaware or a lot of hoarding/reselling going on... I'll leave my personal opinions on that out of this discussion.

A lot of the "common" sets - i.e. Dallas, Dukes, Friends S5 only, Night Court S1, Nip/Tuck S4, etc... Still available.

From the new $3 movies I grabbed Louis L'Amour's The Sacketts with (Sam's Club Exclusive) The Rough Guide To The 50 Greatest Westerns book (a few of which I have not seen... hmmm). Pretty nice "insert" and a double discer.

I'm honestly losing track of the $3 movies now... There's a shit ton.

Ran into a guy at both stores looking for the TV sets... Too little, too late. He left empty handed.

Also... Richmond, KY. Don't bother if you're seeking the newly reported sets. A new MGM display though... Nothing I wanted.

NO Tales From The Crypt... And so, my ER quest comes to a close and my TFTC quest begins. Argh.

Re: Big Lots Part 4

Saw a Thundercats today but it was only a 2 disc set Vol 2 disc 9 and 10 it said for $6. I passed on it, but did FINALLY pick up a Lakers set and Nip Tuck S 4 on Blu. Also picked up the Roots Next Generation.

South Florida here.

Re: Big Lots Part 4

My daily stop at BigLots was thwarted by a storm with 70MPH winds that knocked out the power so they were closed. At least no one else could get in to grab the (probably non-existent) good stuff either.

Re: Big Lots Part 4

Picked up West Wing S2... I had never seen an episode of that show, despite it's highly successful and lengthy run. Very promising based on the first few eps I've seen... S2 was slapped with a "DVD Talk Collector Series" label.

Forgot to mention I saw Six Feet Under. I forgot what season. Haven't seen too many people mention that one. Spotted in South Florida.

Re: Big Lots Part 4

Jackpot at the Cary, NC store today. I got 15 titles in all:

Adventures of Superman - S3+4 (They had several seasons)
Appleseed
Dastardly and Muttley
Flintstones S1, S4 and S5 (They also had 2 and 3)
Johnny Quest S1
Pebbles and Bamm Bamm Show
Popeye 1933-38
Superman: The Movie - 4 Disc Special Edition
Superman - The Theatrical Serials Collection
Top Cat
Wacky Races
War at Home - S1
Veronica Mars - S2

They had all Tales From the Crypt (already own them), Lois and Clark, Murphy Brown and several other titles. I actually went twice today. I went around 1 before work, they had a lot of stuff out already. I noticed a few boxes that said WHV on the side so I asked the cashier if they would be put out today or tomorrow. She said she would be putting them out when the next cashier showed up. So I swung back by on my break about 4 hours later and everything else was out.

I got pretty much all I wanted so far. None of the $10 sets, but I'd already spent almost $50, probably better if they show up next week.

For the hell of it, here's a picture of my haul:

Re: Big Lots Part 4

The store in NoHo (Vineland Av) has a new shipment of $3 titles in. I'm pretty new to the BL thread so I don't know if these titles are "old news" or not, but some of the ones I saw/bought: Jeremiah Johnson, Creepshow, Mister Roberts, Philadelphia Story (2 Disc), Exorcist (version you've never seen), Logan's Run, Outland, Sweet Bird of Youth, The Hand, Year of the Dragon, Mrs Soffel, Big Street, Forever Darling, Funny Girl, Never So Few, Pennies From Heaven, Revenge of Frankenstein, There Was a Crooked Man, Best Foot Forward, Ziegfield Follies.

There were a lot more, but that's all I can think of. Also went to the Hollywood location: nothing new there. If anybody in the LA area would be interested in "combining efforts", so to speak, please PM me. It's a hassle trying to go to all the stores.

it seems to me that the reason those sets are going out of print is because mill creek is getting away from the public domain stuff and concentrating on getting the rights to better stuff, what with upcoming releases from them like "wanted dead or alive-the steve mcqueen tv series" all the stephen cannell stuff they picked up te rights to, and various animated series they picked up from bci when they went under (its such a shame that bci went under, they were starting to put out some really good stuff)

hope I can find some of those hanna-barbara sets, some of those really bring me back to my childhood, make me want to camp out in front of the tv with a big bowl of cereal.

Re: Big Lots Part 4

All right, Question...
Why are almost all of these sets that are showing up Warner Brothers sets? If they were from liquidations wouldn't there be other random companies DVDs in these hauls as well?

I... need... those... sets badly! It's like torture seeing how many people have gotten lucky with their finds. I'll do anything to find those Looney Toons sets and Hanna-Barbera sets!
