I hit the York, Pa BL's last night and picked up Superman Animated vol 1(only one copy). My store seems to be behind somewhat as they just got Dallas, Friends and Blade seasons in. I'll prolly check back in a day or so

Is that the one that comes packaged with Superman Animated? My friend found a Batman animated and Superman animated packaged together for $3.

I went to two Big Lots! this morning and they have none of those $10 box sets.

Granite City got nothing new just couple of $6 box sets. Dallas, Joey, couple of Superbowl sets and some others.

Fairview Heights got couple of LA sets, Joey season 1, OC season 2, West wings, Couple of Dallas sets.

I have another question for those who was lucky enough to grab $3 sets or $10 complete sets.
Do these sets located in $3 bin or $6 Box set rack or somewhere else in store ?

Good luck to all fellow DVDTALKERS and Happy Hunting.
I went to the St Ann store yesterday and the St Peters store today. No $10 sets in either store and most of the stock was titles I had seen before.

Looking through the sets I found yesterday, thought it was interesting to discover a Target sticker on the back of the Kubrick set.

I hope there wasn't a deal struck with the distributor & Newbury Comics where if Newbury took some of this product that no one else in their territory could sell it ?
I dunno ..a lot of these animation boxes Top Cat ,Flintstones, and Adventures of Superman have been at Newbury for $9.99 in the last month..they also were selling a lot of the Dallas and I only saw a few of the seasons at Big Lots.

I have also seen recently The Imax box and The complete Roots ($19.99) at Newbury Comics.

Just curious where are you guys finding the $10 box sets in the store?

Are they next to the $6 sets?

I've found some with the regular DVDs, but generally I've found the big boxes with the electronics.

Unfortunately, that's what I've noticed. I called the Big Lots in Seekonk, MA and they told me they got a new shipment today. I excitedly drove there to find hardly any new DVDs. I'm going to call the Big Lots in Swansea tonight to find out when their next shipment is. Has anyone been there recently?

The Roots Collection sets were on the lower shelf of one of the 4-sided wire racks. The Kubrick/NFL sets were stacked on top of the display.

Hit up a couple of Big Lots here in San Diego ... no new WB goodies yet. I did read earlier that someone had already found new stuff in the area ... maybe tomorrow????

Re: Big Lots Part 4

Went to 5 BL today, and only one (the first one I went to) had anything new. Got the Popeye vol. 1 set, that's the only thing new they had. I expect most stores that haven't put out the new batch yet will put them out soon. Keep your eyes open.

I hope I'll be able to find the looney tunes golden coll. 5-pack. That deal is INSANE!

BTW, the BL's I went to are in the Toledo Ohio area.

I'm keeping the hope alive about that one, as well. These deals tend to spread within a few days, so hopefully we'll all see this stuff in our local stores.

I haven't been to either one of those in like over 3 months, keep in mind the W. Bridgewater store got a new shipment but it was stuff like Wedding Crashers, Kansas City(Altman), Heavens Prisoners (Alec Baldwin), Mother Night, The Fugitive Kind (Brando), Dinner Rush, God,The Devil & Bob, The Anniversary Party.

If you are gonna call you might want to ask what they got in stock.

No new boxsets yet, but I've seen a few single titles I haven't noticed before.

Zebrahead
Sweet Bird Of Youth
Yellow

and finally picked up after missing these before:
King Of California (anyone know the AR on this, it's anamorphic?)
Plan 9 From Outer Space

Re: Big Lots Part 4

Made stop #2 at Big Lots today (seems like I'm stopping by 2-3 times a day....pathetic!) and found a couple new additions, about 10 of each:

Popeye V1 $3
Flintstones S3 $3

That's it. Nothing else new. I noticed the Flintstones were all sans wrapping, so you could open the set up. Odd.....

Re: Big Lots Part 4

Stopped by a Biglots I normally don't go to and found the following:

McQ (starring John Wayne) $3
Popeye the Sailor 1933 - 1938 (4 discs) $3
Appleseed Ex Machina (2 disc CE Steelbook) $3
The Huckleberry Hound Show Vol. 1 (Hanna Barbera Golden Collection) (sticker on shrinkwrap says "Collectible Animation Cell Inside!) $3
Mission Hill - The Complete Series $3

and a bunch of the Mill Creek 40 or 50+ or more movie packs

Not much else....

20% off Sunday 5-9pm

there's a 20% of coupon for July 19th between the hours of 5-9pm. Some stores in the past have accepted those coupons all the long

I don't think so.
It was wrapped by itself, and had a $3 sticker on it.

The wonderful world of First Look and missing/erroneous tech specs.

King of California is 1.85:1 anamorphic.

http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/32188...of-california/

King of California boasts a rich visual presentation through meticulously strong cinematography and gorgeous color timing. This 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen image encapsulates this lush film wonderfully. Digital distortion and edge enhancement are close to nonexistent here, paving way for a crisp and clean image. Though the colors seem overly bold and bloom a bit (though that's partially a technical decision), everything, from minuscule details to textural presentation, looks exquisite. It probably doesn't scream with detail like its high-definition counterparts might, but the radiance of this standard definition effort suits the film brilliantly.
