Re: Big Lots Part 4
No offense dude...................but people are allowed to be able to make a few dollars on stuff. With the way the economy is there is nothing wrong with that. If you don't believe in doing that, that is your business, but that is pretty F#*&ed UP that people that spent time buying these items in the hopes of making money (in some cases less than $6 profit) and driving to different stores don't make anything.
You seriously need to realize what KARMA is. What goes around comes around.
Just my 2 CENTS.

Re: Big Lots Part 4
BTW.................wanted to clarify my comments. I do not mean people buying 4 or more of each copy is right.
I do see nothing wrong with buying 2 or 3 of a DVD selling 1 or 2 of them and making the profit to cover the 1st one plus a little extra. I do agree that buying MULTIPLES (in excess of 4 or more) of the same title in the hopes to sell them is goign over board, but being able to make a profit on an extra one or 2 to cover the cost of the one you are going to keep.....there is nothing wrong with that in my opinion.
People are allowed to agree or disagree..........thats what makes this counrty great.
Personally speaking I like the thrill of the hunt and helping people out which I have done numerous times on this site and I will be sure to do that with BIG LOTS stuff.
I will be sure to check the The Unofficial "Big Lots" Exchange Thread to help my fellow DVD collectors out.

It's actually surprising that it took this long for the ethical debate of flipping to rear it's ugly head. My personal take on the issue is that I don't engage in the practice myself. I also understand the disappointment of not being able to score on a deal where others, including flippers, have. I don't have sympathy for flippers if they don't make a profit(including my brother). However, I also don't hate their guts if they do. Last I checked, we're still operating in a capitalist market and at the end of the day, it's just DVDs.

Re: Big Lots Part 4
I love it! kudos to fye! let all the hording profitteers that had big dollar signs in thier eyes get stuck with thier purchases. let them go buy them at best buy for 6 bucks then fye offer them 3 for them. flood them on ebay and watch them drop down to 4 or 5 bucks each on there
Since there are so many anti-capitalists here (who probably think it's cool that the people they elected are trying to end capitalism in this country) who get bent out of shape and want to send people to the gulag because they bought a few extra sets to flip at FYE for a little money, I've also lost my inclination to trade my extra sets here.
Yeah, I shouldn't have whined about my job or been quite so cynical. I just had a really bad day at work today. Sometimes my cynical side slips out when I'm frustrated, but I forgot how viciously I get attacked every time. Of course there are some reasonable people like Sweet Baby James who remains correctly neutral. I'm not in favor of filppers either, and I ALMOST NEVER do it myself, but I don't feel bad about doing it. It's not illegal or a crime, though I think many here would like to make anyone who makes a profit a criminal and put them in jail. In fact, it's been years since I've flipped anything because I rarely find deals. This was one of the first times I was planning to, and now I won't be able to because of FYE. People can rightly say "good for FYE" and ha-ha all day long, but it's not necessary to call me names and wish harm on me. That's going too far. I just have to laugh how I HAVEN'T EVEN FLIPPED ANY DVDS YET, and the lynch mob is already out for blood. Now I'm not only not going to trade anything to FYE, I'm not going to trade these extra sets here when I'm sure some people would've liked to get them. I honestly forgot how many anti-capitalists are here and I'm afraid some of them would feel morally justified not completing their end of the trade because they read in this thread that some evil person named Manzana had once DARED consider flipping a handful of DVD sets for maybe $10-$20 profit each.
Thanks for reminding me why I lurk more often than post. I think that flippers who buy lots of DVDs are nasty hoarders, but I don't wish harm on them. I do hope they don't make much money either, but I would be the last one who would try to stop them from buying or flipping or try to harm them because I believe in freedom and the Constitution. Capitalism is and always will be better than socialism. That's my opinion. I'll shut up now, as I was instructed.

Hey Manzana, I was on your side to there. LOL. :0 I too had a bad day at work and actually QUIT and walked out only to work things out later in the day with my boss.
I can completely understand and don't let a few bad apples ruin it. This site is great and I AM GLAD I FOUND IT. Anyone that wishes harm on someone else WHEN THEY ARE NOT DOING ANYTHING ILLEGAL NEEDS TO LOOK IN THE MIRROR FOR A REALITY CHECK.

I'd just like to find a copy of "Animaniacs Vol. 3".
I wouldn't mind that Looney Toons collection box though (I have the sets already), then I could keep all my volumes together.

I haven't seen anyone mention the 50 Movie Pack sets from Mill Creek which have 50 public domain films on 12 double-sided discs. $9 each. Saw an 80 Pack too. Even if you like only 2 or 3 films in each set, it's probably worth the price. Horrible transfers but some rare movies.

Re: Big Lots Part 4
Definately want to pick up a copy of the looney toons set.
as well as the tales from the crypt seasons.
I only own a total of 10 dvds now(as i really only watch High Def for the most part)
but at only 3 dollars a set, and the likelyhood that tales from the crypt will never be in hd definately got to pick those up.
hopeing that one day they will put the batman the animated series complete set at big lots.

The distribution of the Lakers set is not limited to the west coast. That said, it does seem to be a a little bit rarer than some other sets from my experience. I've been to 9-10 stores in Indiana & Kentucky and found the Lakers set at 1 or 2 of 'em

Re: Big Lots Part 4
For anyone interested, the Season 1 set of "Murphy Brown" contains another of the Warner Bros. 50 Years of TV commemorative discs.
This one is Volume 2 and contains 1 episode of "My Sister Sam" with Pam Dauber, David Naughton and Rebecca Shaeffer along with 1 episode of "Room For Two" with Linda Lavin, Patricia Heaton and Andrew Prine.

^ I picked up 2 copies of this - one to keep, one to trade. Noticed when I got home that one of them had a sticker on the front indicating a "bonus" disc was inside. Wonder if it's in copies or just the ones with the sticker on the front?

Re: Big Lots Part 4
Thanks for that (sad) confirmation. Even if FYE got flooded with those WB sets, $3 is a ridiculously low price for many of them. It sounds like somebody at corporate found out and decided to punish all those looking to turn a little profit by knocking all of the WB sets down to $3 each. Quite an overreaction, IMHO!
I remember how FYE employees used to tell me their rule of thumb was that they turn around and sell DVDs for about 4x what they paid, so $3 would mean we should be seeing these WB sets all sell for $12 used at FYE, right...? Dream on... FYE will probably still price them for the same ridiculous amounts as always.

Re: Big Lots Part 4
halleluah smithee! all I was trying to say is that seeing those horders lose money and thier efforts winding up being totally in vein really is true justice, let them pay for thier greed. my local big lots had like 20 copies of history of rock n roll and when I went back the next day they were all gone, and one store employee told me one guy bought every one of them, I would laugh my butt off to see the look on his face when fye offers him half of what he just paid, or he post them up on ebay and see them going for less than what he paid.

wow my big lots selection (clifton NJ) is really terrible, guess it goes to show dvds really cost nothing to make as well considering the prices these are selling at.

Re: Big Lots Part 4
Thank you so much for posting this. I made a trip to both of these stores last night and picked up the following:
$10
Stanley Kubrick collection (there was still 1 copy left at both locations)
Looney Tunes Golden Collection vol. 6 (I bought the only copy I saw)
$6
Dukes of Hazzard season 1 and 2 (picked up the only copies of each that I saw, for trading purposes. I didn't recall if anyone had found these)
$3
Tales from the Crypt seasons 3, 4, 5, and 6
Adventures of Superman season 2 (George Reeves)
Appleseed Ex Machina steelbook
Popeye 1933-1938
I also saw the $10 NFL set, the $10 Roots set, most of the $3 Hanna Barbera sets, Lois and Clark seasons 1-3, Tracy Takes On... season 1, Everwood season 1 (I think it was season 1), and the War at Home season 1.
I was thrilled to find the Kubrick set as I have been eyeing that for a while. I was going to pick up an NFL set for trade but it is HEAVY -- wasn't sure how much it would cost to ship that one.
I will be posting an updated trade list in the Exchange forum so keep checking there. Happy hunting everyone, and thanks to all who are posting their finds!

I thought that WW Complete was an awesome deal but that Looney Tunes Collection is UNREAL. Hitting several big lots today and if I find any extra I'll put them on here for trade.
Sadly I don't think I'll find even one...
