I thought the word was that once they decide the 50% has run its course, the unsold stock would go away, and that would be that? Oh well, I'm happy with my substantial 50% off haul (which I did buy thinking this was as cheap as it would get...).

well I'm happy with the 50% off as well but anything less and the prices are about equal to Best Buy's
I'm planning on getting the HP Years 1-5 set tomorrow and they also have 2 Charmed Deluxe editions for about $155 and they have their Indy Exclusive with fedora

The stores around me only have selected items for 50% off. I would hope they might open that up to the rest of the items before shipping them back.

bsmith, i'm not sure if I can say this here (being that it's not my own thread in classifieds) but if there is something you might be interested in, I can always check my local store

My brother just snagged me Zack & Miri "Make a Porno" on Blu-ray for $17.50 at the Dearborn, MI store. Not bad. They had the edited title cover version too, but I told him if he got that one I wouldn't pay him.

Thank you. I've seen this thread plenty of times, but never clicked thinking it was only the Montclair store. I found out it's all stores from another thread.

Here in the southern New England area it's been strange....
In the Cranston, RI (Garden City) store, they are just doing the "red sticker" garbage, which none of the sports DVD's that are hard to find other places had stickers. Same for the Providence Place Mall store (although their pickings were pretty scarce anyways.
However, the North Attleboro, Mass store (about a 15-25 min drive from Providence depending on traffic) had all CD's/DVD's at 50% off. They actually had them pooled into the middle of the store as they remodeled the section of the store that had originally carried the CD's/DVD's. I was able to snag...
Boston Celtics 2007-08 Championship special edition (has complete Game 7 vs Cleveland plus all 4 wins over the Lakers in the Finals in its entirety). Was 40, paid 20.
Pittsburgh Steelers Greatest Games (first 5 SB wins from original broadcast). Was 40, paid 20.
Dale Earnhardt 10 Greatest Wins Steelbook (5 disc set with highlighted verstions of original broadcasts. Was 40, paid 20.
New York Mets Best Games at Shea Steelbook (top 6 Met games at Shea from original broadcast). Was 60, paid 30.
Since Im on vacation, taking a trip to the Waterford, CT store (hour drive from Providence). Anyone know the statis of their sale???

I believe these will be the correct numbers for the stores you are wanting to visit.
You can also check the link to get an idea of inventory status although I'm not sure how accurate it is.

Yesterday I picked up The Adventures of Antoine Doniel criterion boxset for $50 at the Hyannis, MA store.
Once I get paid today, I'll be making another trip to see which other criterions they have.

My Border's had the "red sticker" "sale." A handful of blu-rays which have been on sale everywhere forever at better prices. Completely worthless.

Re: Borders - Montclair, CA store - 50% off all DVDs and CDs
Borders in south Indianapolis had a sign posted that 50% off included box sets and blu-rays - guess they were tired of people asking. They still had a decent selection of blu-rays and about a third of what they used to have in dvd. Picked up the Dirty Harry blu-ray collection for $65.
I was there this morning (4.24) to return a disc (I did end up finding a copy Thief of Bagdad:CC -- yay) and they still had plenty of remaining inventory at 50%.
Well I just dropped in about a half hour ago for a magazine and everything was boxed up and gone. The smatterings of CDs, DVDs and two of the tall shelves of blu-rays, gone. Nothing but empty shelves and cases. All signage gone.
Time may be running out these sales.

Mira Loma, CA store is toast. Nothing left but a handful of new release titles. It was disappointing.

we have quite a few here left in Modesto, Ca including Sopranos complete series for about $200 I think and the Charmed set...Nightmare Before Christmas sets with busts. I think everything in our store was on discount except the new releases.

Store #1 - Just the red tag deal
Store #2 - Absolutely nothing on sale for either DVDs or CDs, no signs
Store #3 - Everything on sale (except new releases), store starting to get a picked over
Store #4 - Signs indicating everything was on sale. Media center gone. A few racks of DVDs and a pretty good selection on Blus. Almost no CDs anywhere, maybe a 100 or so.
Store #5 - Just the red tag deal
So I don't really know the rhyme or reason, as it seems to really depend on each store. That also depends on what gets selected if they are only doing the red tags.

Picked up "Kiss Of The Spider Woman" on Blu-ray for $20 mainly because I had $40 or so in giftcards left and I don't want to eat them if the chain goes under.

Heads up to anyone in the Bay Area (CA), the Milpitas Borders at McCarthy Ranch is no longer doing the 50% off sale.
Went in there today and all their signage was taken down. Also the Blu-Ray/Box Set cases were completely empty and their old DVD section has now been converted into a new book section.
The only DVD's they had were last week's new releases.
Kind of a bummer as I wanted to stop by quickly to get Vampyr

Yup, looks like the stores that had their whole inventory at 50% are now history.
Saw this at 2 different stores this weekend and only a few DVDs and CDs in the middle of the store, with books where the DVD/CD sections were. Though went into one "red tag" one and they are still doing the "red tag" sale. But for how much longer?

Re: Borders - Montclair, CA store - 50% off all DVDs and CDs
Just came back from overdoing it yet again at a local Borders store. When I saw stacks of collapsed cardboard boxes and a bunch of hand held inventory-counting gadgets, I figured I'd better pounce for anything I've been on the fence about. But when I asked the desk clerk woman how much longer the clearance would continue, she said she didn't know. So I guess they are just taking inventory after all. Considering the 50% off stock hadn't changed much between last Tuesday and today at this particular store, I'll feel real dumb if the discount goes even lower.
