Does "Jeeves and Wooster" have subtitles? It also appears it has been repackaged and priced a bit higher. I wonder what the differences are. Did you get the black box (2005) or white box (2008) set?

Nice find on that Scorpion set. I'll pick it up just to get Jailhouse 41 to go along with my Media Blasters set, rather than spend almost twice as much to get the OOP US disc.

I have the white box (2008) and the box indicates "English subtitles for the hbearing impaired" - no others listed.

The Cantonese track is not the original sound mix. As well as being remixed into stereo, almost all of the music score has been replaced by "Hollywood-sounding" music (including music from Speed and Forrest Gump), and some music has been added where there isn't meant to be any in the first place. The track also adds/replaces some of the sound effects. The English dubbed track also has incorrect music, but uses different pieces to the Cantonese track.

BBC TV Shakespeare Collection (37 discs) is available for approx $110 USD including shipping and with VAT removed. Region 2 PAL, so a region-free setup is definitely required.

I'm sure I'll like the Female Prisoner series especially since it has Meiko Kaji from the Lady Snowblood films. I love this cover. I won't pass on a good women in prison film. I've recently started watching the Pinky Violence collection from Panik House so they will be a nice addition. I also ordered the the Chiba Street Fighter collection to replace my non-anamorphic copies. Not as cheap as Hanzo but should be worth the upgrade.

Has anyone who pre-ordered Hanzo and/or Female Prisoner received their shipment yet? I thought I'd have it before Easter, but still waiting.

I don't think anyone has mentioned it yet. Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and Smiley's People sets are £6.98 each. I'm sorely tempted. They are region 2, of course, but I think I can work around that. These adaptations of John Le Carré stories are two of the best 6hr spy series BBC ever produced.

I was tempted but checked it out via netflix first. PQ was quite bad and no subtitles. I'll wait and hope for a reissue.

Another British spy/thriller series I was thinking of is Edge of Darkness. This is only available from other sellers, not direct from amazon.uk. But I always liked that one, and it is only 9 pounds Sterling plus shipping.

You checked out the R2 from Netflix? Word is the R2 is at least a fuller presentation of both stories, as the Acorn R1 apparently have stuff cut out of both. (Can't remember where I saw the discussion/comparison between the two regions' versions.)

Obviously not, but you can certainly get a sense of the quality. The R1 was on three discs and I would call the quality poor. I can only imagine how much worse it would look if the series were crammed onto two discs as it is in R2.
