Some 2 packs are shrinked wrapped back to back, so you can only see the front cover and spines of each one. The UPC code is on the back, so they are not visible and thus the UPC code might be punched/defaced and you could not tell until you removed the outer shrink wrap that holds the 2 dvds together...

I found the 2-packs at one of the stores nearby, only picked up Sixteen Candles and The Breakfast Club - High School Reunion Collection though. Seemed to be only one copy of that 2-pack available.

This store wasn't doing the 2 for $10 that was advertised in the flyer for another store so I decided to wait until tomorrow to visit the other store to pick up a few.

Found the 2-packs here, they were not with the regular DVDs but in the farthest corner of the electronics aisle. I probably cursed myself because the one I really really wanted was American Werewolf in London/Cat People, so of course it was not to be found.

From what I've seen, they aren't punches, they are printed black dots on the barcode. I posted earlier some copies of Darkman II had them, some didn't. If you can see the back, you can usually see the black dot thru the white sticker.

My closest Big Lots got the two-packs in today. They were mixed with the older DVDs. I picked up:

It's a "back to back" 2 pack; you don't see the back covers at all until opening the pack.

The RAY of the Ray/Hurricane pair and the CAPE FEAR REMAKE of the Cape Fear duo are both 2 disc editions. (At least for me it was)

The Ray 2 disc is NOT marked as a 2 disc version. It has the regular cover and it just says widescreen at the bottom.

Here is how you can tell if it is the Ray 2 disc version:

1) The back cover list all the extra features such as the extra 25 minutes of footage, 14 deleted scenes, 2 featurettes, director's commentary, complete uncut music performances, etc.

2) The Ray keepcase is a little heavier than the Hurricane keepcase of the pair.

3) Hold the shrinkwrapped pair (side by side packaging) vertically in your hand with the spine side in the palm of your hand (your palm is facing up towards the ceiling so that the hinge of the tray is at the bottom of the keepcase). Jiggle it back and forth. You can hear the hinged tray with the 2nd disc rock back and forth in the keepcase.

Short of having x-ray eyes, this is the only way I could tell if this was a 2 disc version.

If you don't see the Ray/Hurricane pair, practice your skills on the Cape Fear duo. On the duo that I got, the remake is also a 2 disc version. This duo is also packaged side by side. Hold the spine end in the palm of your hands and rock the package sideways. You can hear the hinged tray with the 2nd disc rattle.

I have been to several Biglots and the Cape Fear duo and Ray/Hurricane pair is in very limited quantities. There was only one of each at some of the stores I visited.

Went to a local Big Lots specifically for the Land/Dawn of the dead 2-pack which I found 1 set of. There were other sets, all which have been mentioned. Definitely worth a look!

Oh btw, the UPCs on Land/Dawn were perfect, no punches or slashes.

I purchased the 2-Pack of "Cat People" and "American Werewolf in London" (thanks for the heads up everybody!)- they were fine (no UPC punch-outs), etc. One weird thing though- the disc for "Werewolf" is silk-screened but marked as a 'screener' (used for reviewers). It's marked "Full Length Screening DVD"; "Disc functionality & content may differ on final product" & "If you have rented or purchased this DVD call 1-800-622-6797. Federal Law provides severe criminal and cival penalties for unauthorized distribution or reproduction."...

The case itself is a retail case (it even has the theft-protection strip on the inside) and has all the same features as the regular retail disc I previously owned. I was worried that there would be blurbs that come up during the movie but I didn't see anything. Weird...

Went to Huber Heights store and didn't find the ones I was somewhat interested in- Mummy 1 and 2/King Kong escapes & King Kong vs Godzilla/Conan & Conan the Destroyer. Have King Kong vs. Godzilla on VHS so I was hoping for an upgrade. Big Lots still sucks for its mish-mash of titles that get spread over stores. I did see 3 copies or so of the Cape Fear 2-pack. The only 2-pack I bought was Lost in Translation/Broken Flowers. Last summer, I saw Lost in Translation by itself for $3.00 but they were all full screen. This 2-pack I purchased has both movies in anamorphic widescreen.

I just saw The Skeleton Key (w/slipcover) packaged with The Skeleton Key (w/o slipcover). NICE!
