Re: Big Lots Update Part 3

Some more 2-packs I've spotted:

Carlito's Way / Carlito's Way: Rise To Power
The Door in the Floor / Swimming Pool
The Good Shepherd / The Interpreter
Liar Liar / Bruce Almighty
Black Dahlia / Hollywoodland

I saw two different Lost in Translation sets.
One matched with Broken Flowers and the other
with another Bill Murray movie I don't remember.

are these two packs 2 discs in 1 case, or 2 seperate cases shrinkwrapped together?

I think this answers your question.

Odd how it seems that certain regions of the country get certain titles. Here in NJ I never saw a single Moonlighting box or Guys & Dolls DE that people in other areas seemed to keep seeing. ...Yet I'm always seeing They All Laughed (got one myself, and saw it again about 2 days ago)...but it seems folks in other areas never got that one. I wonder if that's just coincidence, or if certain titles are being intentionally sent to specific areas (?).

Re: Big Lots Update Part 3

Mickactual, I travel quite a bit. There are about 7 Big Lots within about a 220 mile area that I frequent travel fairly often. Every store manager has a different attitude about the DVD's. Some will put them out immediately and in great spots. A couple of them will leave a display in the back for sometimes as long as two weeks before throwing a new display out. Different locals also attract different types of buyers/collectors/dealers.

Re: Big Lots Update Part 3

for crime drama fans, I highly recommend Carlito's Way / Carlito's Way: Rise To Power

the prequal really is better than some might say, and a wise choice to find a younger actor to play the young carlito, I personally could not imagine if they tried to bring al pacino back for the prequal and have him try to play someone 19 yrs old.

The Big Lots on Clairemont Mesa Blvd in the Clairemont area is usually a good bet to find the latest dvd assortments ... at least for me it is.

There's also a Big Lots on Mira Mesa Blvd that's pretty good for new stuff.

The Big Lots in the South Bay, from my experience, are usually the worst about getting the new stuff or keeping it in stock.

Hope this helps you out!

Re: Big Lots Update Part 3

I'm going back tomorrow to pick up the following 2-Packs:

Shaun of the Dead/Slither (I've passed the latter by on a number of occasions because I thought there was an Unrated cut)
Cape Fear (both the original and the remake)
12 Monkeys/The Thing (both the old versions, I own both films including the remastered Thing, but want this one solely for the isolated score track; I can probably sell 12 Monkeys at a local shop for $4)

The previously viewed titles seem like most of the same titles from my local Hollywood Videos previously viewed selection right now...

Has anyone else seen the Mummy 1 and 2 or Animal House/Blues Brothers that were mentioned in a previous post? I haven't been able to locate those two unless they have just sold out already.

Re: Big Lots Update Part 3

One of our BL's got a large restock & new batch consisting of Universal singles, Universal 2 packs & the pre-viewed. There were a number of titles not yet listed in the 2 packs, here are a few of them:

Fast Times/Dazed & Confused High School Memories Ed WS. Interestingly, they had this in both side by side & back to back packaging. All of the side by sides were floaters.

The Break Up?/Along Came Polly WS

Casual Sex?/Cold Comfort Farm WS This has punches in the UPC that you can't see until opening the package

Also noticed a Pirates Of The Caribean #3 in the previewed, but those are pretty common at pawn shops for much less then $6 ....

Also nabbed the Animal House/Blues Brothers WS that's been mentioned

There were a number of other "2fer" titles, sorry i wasn't able to write them down
