Re: Big Lots Update Part 3

Stopped by my local BL today (SoCal) as Thur/Fri is when they put out the new stuff. I already got most of what I wanted last week. but.. there were a few titles mentioned here that I didn't see and wouldn't mind having... They did have new stock but it was mostly kids' titles ..I didn't take notes. Maybe the "easter" related shipment someone mentioned earlier?

Re: Big Lots Update Part 3

I also bought for my kids, the HBO kids series Harold and the Purple Crayon. They only made 13 episodes, but like Classical Baby, it's a great show. Disk 1 I found has 6 episodes and is titled "New Worlds to Explore" has Harold on the cover in a boat looking up at the moon. Has anyone seen the second dvd titled "Let Your Imagination Soar" which has 7 episodes with Harold riding a cow jumping over the moon"?

Re: Big Lots Update Part 3

Finally picked up Oh, God! this morning. I believe it's the first title I've bought with the slashed UPC. Looked the movie up on imdb.com just now and see there's an apparent re-make of it in the works for 2011.

Re: Big Lots Update Part 3

I saw the stuff i posted about yesterday.

The $6 batch appears to not exist, though the store was told to expect them. The $3 batch is similar to what Chop2Chip10 posted. I also saw some other kids dvd's (nothing of major importance) & restocks of a few more bland titles. of note, the Garfields are down to $3, & there are children's "read along" dvd's of several films; the most notable being the recent Garfield movie.

Finally the $1 dvd's were the usual 2 & 3 films on 1 dvd public domain junk.

Re: Big Lots Update Part 3

...found a lone copy of 1965's "Ten Little Indians" yesterday which was a nice surprise- I wonder about things like that; are they just 'accidents' that happened to fall into the 'giveaway' pile? It seems kinda flukey...

Re: Big Lots Update Part 3

I have a question for anyone here who has bought from Big Lots going way back to when they started with the DVD's: Do you think there is any possiblity that maybe some of all the hundreds of Anchor Bay titles that have been discontinued could possibly show up at Big Lots in the near future or even some of the BCI titles? Thanks in advance for any opinions/insights.

My uneducated opinion is yes, it's certainly possible.

There are/were so many Anchor Bay titles that I put off because I thought I could get around to purchasing them at a later date.

Re: Big Lots Update Part 3

Ok guys, the only title that I want that I haven't been able to find so far is The Butcher Boy... if anyone out there wants to trade a copy of that for something I can run to my store and pick pretty much any of these titles up...

I know a number of people were looking for City of the Lost Children and that title is most certainly attainable for me... as is The Dark Backward and many others.... I pretty much have my store memorized now as I've been there about 5 times since my first purchase in this batch.

Sadly, we're sold out of To Sir, With Love here.

Re: Big Lots Update Part 3

I also wanted to inquire about the Roughneck series... my store has a number of them, not really sure how many there are since I haven't looked them up or anything... My question is if I liked the original Starship Troopers will I like these? I'm not familiar w/ them at all.

My store has 2-3 copies of this title... I was debating whether or not to pick it up but decided not to and go home and read a synopsis and then decide.

Re: Big Lots Update Part 3

Can anyone confirm that the grade A batch of DVD's (City of Lost Children, Barry Lyndon, To Sir With Love, etc.) has arrived in any of the eastern or southern states. It seems like it may be selective and was curious if anyone has found these titles.

A year or so ago, they had a couple of titles pop up at Dollar Tree. The TV Highlander movies, Butch & Sundance: The Early Years and some other stuff. Nothing major.

My Big Lots got sparse copies of the First Look titles and some FOX TV movies (RFK, Mary & Rhoda and some other title I can't remember). I picked up:

King of California (I ripped the slipcover trying to get the alarm sticker off!!!!!)
The Proposition
Ten Little Indians (Didn't pick it up the first time)

Re: Big Lots Update Part 3

I saw Barry Lyndon at my local Big Lots. I live in Florida. I have yet to see To Sir with Love or City of Lost Children. I suspect all of these are at the other Big Lots in my town so I cannot say for sure.
