I found L'Enfant in the Methuen, MA store today, I grabbed 1 of 3 copies. Still have not seen those other titles at 4 of 5 stores I frequent which have the Sony restock.

Also found a "new" anime title:
Stratos 4 Vol.1

Grr, it's been at least 3 weeks since any of the stores in my part of Washington got any dvd's other then $1 junk. I am going to be beyond irritated if we don't eventually get the Woody Allen boxes.

I'm really suspecting those darn things were a limited supply that BL bought and only got out to certain stores...

Finally went to my Big Lots in Galesburg, IL and brought in a decent haul. Also saw 3 or so of the Woody Allen box sets, but didn't grab one. Didn't realize it was this rare.

Grabbed the following:

Lewis Black: Black on Broadway
Dennis Miller: The Raw Feed
Lewis Black: Red White & Screwed
London
Poolhall Junkies
Gattaca (Superbit w/ sleeve)
Crouching Tiger (Superbit w/ sleeve)
Vertical Limit (Superbit w/ sleeve)
Species Box Set (for $7 why not?)

I hit one today in Arlington, TX.

They had four of the Woody Allen sets and after much trouble to figure out the price, the manager told me they were $19. Being low on funds, I passed.

I did however, pick up at $3 a piece:
Thumbsucker
Thrashin'
Saddest Music in the World, The
Gates of Heaven
One Day in September
Sketches of Frank Gehry
Capturing the Friedmans
Bubba Ho-tep (collectors edition; not in the suit.)
Lucky Louie
American Splendor

I was really hoping to find Elephant but could only find about five copies of Last Days, which I already own. I'll probably try another local store after my next pay check hits. Either way, I was pretty excited about the titles I did find.

Not so new...I found Vols. 1, 2, and 4 during the first round of anime arrivals, but had to go through Amazon Marketplace for 3. The OVA (two additional episodes that take place after the series finale) has been showing up at every store I've hit recently, too. It's an enjoyable series, although fanservice for the main characters is pretty minimal since they're all high school age.

^ Yeah, by "new", you know I mean recent restock.

I'm pretty sure that I started out my DVDTalk trades with you for a copy of Stratos 4, can't remember which volume though. Ring a bell?

Has anyone come across a copy of the Michael Moore Collector's Set at BL that actually includes the Bowling for Columbine SE like it's supposed to? I went through two copies today and both had the single-disc version.

Couple new Sony titles found today, these were at the Nashua store I saw them in last week, but I neglected to remember them when I posted my list. I also saw 1 copy of Silverado there today too, too bad it's not the 2-disc boxset version. I don't remember it being there last week, but it probably was. It's hard seeing all the titles in those ill-arranged stacked bins.

2 new titles:
All I Want (Elijah Wood,Franka Potente,Mandy Moore)
Land Raiders (Telly Savalas)

and I also found a copy of Far From Heaven without the UPC scratched thru, so I grabbed it. This was at the Goffstown store, which has not got the new Sony stuff.

They got the Echo Bridge assortment this week, can anyone recommend any of those titles? I was interested in Mysterious Journey(or Island?), but passed on it for now. It was a Jules Vern story with Kyle Maclachlan in it.

Yeah, the OVA. I saw about 20 of them earlier today. YGM, by the way.

In the year or so I've been following this thread, I've noticed a pattern: it seems that the middle of the US (all the way from North-South but right in the middle east-west) & the western part of the east coast seems to almost always get stuff before the rest of us; sometimes by several weeks.

The only thing I've ever seen posted here that my State (Washington) apparently NEVER got were the Warner Brothers deluxe 2 dvd SE sets of a few classics awhile back (I no longer remember the titles, I THINK one was One Flew Over The Cukoo's & some 40's classics).

I'm still hoping for the boxes to appear. One local store manager who shall go unnamed told me that they are furious that they haven't received ANY dvd stock in 3 weeks.

In my perception, it does appear that BL takes care of states like Tennessee, Texas, Ohio & Indiana before the rest of us. Grr.

We're down to three stores in the Minneapolis-St. Paul market, soon to be two as the Coon Rapids store must either close or move. It seems to be two to three weeks after new finds are posted before they start turning up here. Friday is the next truck delivery at my closest location (Knollwood), but if the store does get new stuff it may not hit the floor until Monday. It varies.

They do have a big distrobution center, I think it may even be the headquarters in Columbus, OH. Of course not everything seems to hit the Ohio stores I've checked. Alot of the anime shipments, especially the boxed sets seem to have got little to no distribution around here. The assortemnt with At Last the 1948 show and Don't Adjust your Set never showed up around here either. I found one of the 1948 in West Virginia but never found the other one.

But, even then, when a Big Lots store does get Box sets, why not all the ones on the list instead of a select few and why with lopsided quantities(one store I saw Woody 5 sets, Species 1 set, and 0 for all the others). And, when one Big Lots does get some Box sets, why does another Big Lots store just a few miles down the road still get none!

IMO, All I Want is an excellent film.

I had the same problem a few weeks ago. I bought one, it contained the 1-disc edition, went back and exchanged it and sure enough, the new one had the 1-disc also.

When BOWLING FOR COLUMBINE was first released there was a 1 disc version that was a flipper with the movie on one side and the special features on the other that was prepared for the rental market and a 2 disc version for sell-through outlets. As I understood it, the content on both versions was the same. Can anybody confirm? Does the 1 disc version now available at Big Lots have the same content as the 2 disc version?

Here's a link ot the original DVDTalk thread:

Yes and no. Unfortunately the majority of us have found the downgraded version. However, a few in this thread have reported finding the better version that's clearly marked "Special Edition" (don't know if it was the flipper or 2-disc - both are same content-wise) which seems to be a rare occurrence.

Not the ones in the box set(s) I bought. Slightly different cover (see below), single-disc, single sided, with these features:
• Personal Introduction by Michael Moore
• Audio Commentary with Interns and Receptionists
• Original Theatrical Trailer

According to DVD Aficionado, the non-SE was a separate release that came a year after the original SE (and a year after that thread), but both were given the same UPC: 0-27616-88226-4.

What was in the boxes I saw:

What should have been in there:

The Big Lots in Garland, Texas has box sets! I picked up 1 copy of each of the Woody Allen sets. Here's what they still have:

Woody Allen Box Set $16: two left
Woody Allen Box Set $13: one left
Species Box Set: three left
Foxy Brown Box Set: two left

Thanks for the heads-up about the Woody Sets. The one with six films has been on my wish-list for a long time, just didn't want to pay ~$40 for it. Never dreamed I would get it for $16!

^Bowling for Columbine SE is a 2-disc. There is 1 copy left around here, and I still have one for trade.

and...
Thought I should mention for all you Tanya Roberts fans, she plays Mike Hammer's secretary Velda in the first of two movies in the double feature (Murder Me, Murder You). It's no Sheena, but she looks damn good.

My local BL had reloaded the Columbia TriStar/Sony tirles today. Picked up Hollow Man Superbit and Mike Hammer double feature. Already had most other titles that I had any interest in. Saw Johnny Mnemonic and Crouching Tiger/Hidden Dragon Superbits a plenty for those who missed out previously. Have yet to see a The Quick And The Dead Superbit (mentioned on the first page of this new thread) and Cliffhanger Superbit which someone mentioned recently, although not yet added to the master list.

Saw the same box sets (and the Rocky set) at the Forest Ln. location. I bought the Woody Allen sets. As of this evening they had one more copy of each. Now, if only the 8-disc set would show up for around $20

I picked up(from a new display fwiw) Kung-Fu Hustle WS(WS & FS were both plentiful) and the Mike Hammer double feature. Was please to find out that the double feature contained movies that weren't in the Mike Hammer box set I got from Ross. They were of an earlier vintage as well, which is a good thing IMO.

My big lots finally got some new Sony restock titles in today. I was hoping for some of those MGM box sets which have never shown up around here or the 2-disk SE of Mothman Prophecies but no luck. I did snag one of 2 copies of the Memory of a Killer and the only copy of the Legend of Suriyothai. (ALso got some Iced teas and some Blueberry Lemonade.)

They probably only had about 15 different titles ion this new SOny restock by my estimation. Here were some of the titles:
Vertical Limit: SE
The Escapist (they had a shit load of this movie)
London (also an obscene # of copies for this one.)
Gattaca: Superbit (probably about 10 copies)
Cant Hardly Wait
Shadow Man
