I haven't made it down there to check. Do either of those have the Robotech The Shadow Chronicles? I've checked Zanesville, Cambridge, Lancaster and Circleville without any luck. Did you know there is also a store in South Parkersberg?

The Burton/Firth mid-70's Equus? Jeez - I've been looking for that (even at regular price) for ages! No sign of that one here in NJ.

We had very few Midnight movies here in NJ. Would loved to have seen those two!

Don't feel bad - the NJ stores never got Guys & Dolls OR Angels In America.

I went with the coupon Sunday. Pickin's were slim buy this point, but I grabbed:
Amityville Horror (Ryan Reynolds/widescreen)
The Fog (original)
The Dunwich Horror (Midnight Movie)

Picked up the following for $3 (or less, with recent coupon) at a couple of different Big Lots in my area over the last week or so:

-Bubba Ho-Tep:CE
-The Brood
-Scanners
-Paths of Glory
-The Woman in Red
-To Live and Die in LA:SE
-"X" The Man with the X-Ray Eyes
-Rollerball ('75)
-Hell in the Pacific
-The Ghoul

I was hoping to find Killer Klowns from Outer Space but had no luck. I am considering some others as blind buys down the road: A Bucket of Blood, The Falcon and the Snowman, Needful Things, Frogs, Amityville 2:The Possession...anybody who has these discs have any opinions on them or the movies themselves (I know none of these would be considered cinema "greats") Any other recommendations?

Should've read this thread on Sunday.

I Forgot they usually honor the 20% coupon all day. They've done it many times.

Oh Well. I hope I remember next time (probably in October/November) Love those coupons.

I haven't seen Europa Europa.

Angels in America and Maria Full of Grace had very limited stock. The most I would see in a single store were 2 copies (if they had any at all)

Guys and Dolls I saw more copies, I would usually find them at the bottom of the display (probably hidden by the employees) but they go fast.

Needful Things is actually a pretty good flick. The top of the 2nd tier Stephen King films. It's not as good as The Green Mile, TSR, Misery or Stand by Me. It's good though. I wish they would officially release the 3-hr directors cut of the film they show on tv.

Amityville 2 is the best of any of the amityville flicks, including the original and remake.

I have seen "Guys and Dolls" in three different stores but only once in the actual new MGM display. The others were in the older DVD areas and at/near the bottom of those displays, deep in the DVD bin. One employee commented as I was checking out that she "thought about buying this(Guys and Dolls) but I don't know when I would find time to watch it".

The first time I ever saw the "Guys and Dolls" discs at Biglots was in the big MGM display at the bottom. I bought one for my mom. They had about 5 more of them and I would have grabbed a couple more if I knew they were going to go that fast. The next time I went back, they were all gone.

I already traded in my copy of "Needful Things", I just couldn't get into it. "Amityville 2" is good. But, didn't care for the re-make of Amityville(Ryan Reynolds), so I traded that one in too. I like the Carrie re-make I bought by mistake thinking it was the original. But, just for the fact it has Emilie de Ravin(the actress who plays "Claire" in Lost) in it that it is worth $3.00 right there! 'Burnt Offerings" was a blind buy for me, but I did watch the movie trailer on the DVD. If it was 1976 again I would be so ready to hit the drive-in to see it. I doubt the actual movie will meet my expectations now...but I have to wait and save this one back for a dark and stormy night. "Extremities" with Farrah Fawcett was well worth the $3.00 I paid. "Foxy Brown" has some great dialogue among other things and I'm glad I went back and picked it up after looking at the reviews on Amazon.com

Thanks for getting back to me on this. No luck at the local Big Lots, but it did make me check on half.com, where I was lucky enough to find the same seller offering both of these for $3 a piece, along with Bergman's Passion of Anna. Those were the two from that Bergman set that I didn't already have, and this is one of the few R1 Kurosawa discs I haven't bought yet, so this worked out pretty great. Much appreciated.

I'll have to go look again tomorrow. I still wouldn't mind finding a copy of Angels in America.

Haven't seen the Bubba Ho-Tep in any BL's. Just curious, is it the standard packaging or the one in the jumpsuit packaging?

The version found at Big Lots is the "Collector's Edition" in a slip cover. The UPC is 027616906533 and here's a photo of the front cover from an Alibris listing:

Found the HBO restock today, got Cracker s3 and Angels In America which I had not been able to find before. There was only 1 copy of AiA , but at least 5 copies of Cracker s3. Still looking for Hitchhiker Vol.2 & 3 and the new MGM restock has still not shown up - I'm waiting for the rest of that Allen and World Films stuff.

I don't recall seeing a single person confirm seeing this aside from the first poster who mentioned it. At this point it seems like it's either a huge ymmv situation where just that store or a handful of stores got a couple of random titles or it isn't true.

As for the World Films, the only one i have picked up was Rhapsody in August a month or so back.
