Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
Now active.
Take 15% Off $40 to $74.99 and 20% Off $75 or More BNREAD40 -- valid from February 24, 2017 at 12:01am to March 2, 2017 at 2:59am Eastern Time. I added a 20% code from one of the new mailer packets that came out. This code unless many of the recent email member codes seems to be member specific, but it's worth a try. Some unusual things with the new mailer packet -- some people get 2 25% off instead of 20% codes -- seems random. Odd behaviour in the one of the coupons seems be ringing up ineligible, but the other seems to work fine. I got mine that wouldn't work for movie/Media to work for Books at least once though others todya have said theirs wouldn't work for anything. The current member welcome coupons are about to expire if anyone is in the market. I'm hoping that some new member can forward me the next set and I'll put those up when I can find the new coupons |

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
While we're waiting for someone to post a 25% coupon, here's BN's latest quarter results (which includes the holidays). TL;DR - a lot of fad and pop culture items made the 2015 holiday season results better, but there weren't any in 2016 so it was worse in comparison. Also, online sales are up and store sales are down, which makes sense given that things cost significantly more in the store. The Nook is still a dumpster fire.
http://forinvestors.barnesandnoblein...easeID=1015498 I don't understand why everyone pays the same for a membership, but some people get 20% coupons and other people get 25% coupons. Doing things like that to their loyal customers (they also took me off the e-mail list for coupons years ago and I've never been able to get back) seems like exactly the wrong thing to do when you're trying to retain loyal customers. (Thanks to whoever posted the 30% code a while back. I got an expensive book with it.) |
Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
Barnes & Noble still runs their marketing outreach like it is 1995 and no one knows what other customers are getting for coupons. I don't think they are serious about their web business when push comes to shove. It reminds me of Walmart's half-in approach to the web.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
This company needs to do something dramatic and soon. The stock price has declined more than 7% in the last two trading sessions and is at a 52-week low.
Barnes & Noble, Inc. (BKS) Stock Drops on Disappointing Sales Mar 2, 2017, 2:09 pm EST | By Karl Utermohlen, InvestorPlace Writer Barnes & Noble, Inc. (NYSE:BKS) shares took a hit Thursday as the company posted underwhelming sales. It appears as if the brick-and-mortar business for book sellers is on the decline as more and more people buy Kindles and other e-readers, as well as electronic copies of their favorite novels. It makes sense considering how much easier it is to travel with one electronic device rather than boxes and boxes of books. The company’s earnings amounted to 96 cents per share over the course of its third quarter of fiscal 2017. Barnes & Noble now expects its fiscal 2017 sales to fall 7% compared to the previous year. Additionally, retail sales declined 7.5% to $1.3 billion, and while online sales rose slightly, they weren’t enough to drive the company’s results up. Comparable stores sales also fell by 8.3%. Net sales over the quarter fell a staggering 35.7% to $38.4 million. Barnes & Noble said that the lack of a big blockbuster book during the three-month winter period led to dim results for the company. For its fiscal year, earnings will be at around $180 million to $190 million before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization. Analysts expect earnings to be slightly higher at $190.7 million. The company also blamed the music industry as the new Adele album failed to garnet the results that the company was expecting this season. BKS stock declined 6.6% Thursday. |
Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
I hope Barnes & Noble stays in business and I've shifted some purchases there that could have gone elsewhere. Book prices will only go up on Amazon if B&N collapses.
|
Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
The good news for Barnes & Noble is that it now has a virtual monopoly on retail bookselling in many areas of the country. That is a dwindling market but the demand for physical books won't evaporate overnight.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
Another way to look at it is that BN is really steady. They got boosted in 2015 by pop-culture fad items, and had a good holiday quarter, then went back to being solid and steady in 2016. Something like BN has so much momentum that it's hard to stop it. I'm not worried about them going away any time soon. I'm more worried about a new CEO coming in and changing things, especially how coupons work. I'm also a little concerned that inventory, at least at my store, is dwindling away to almost nothing. No wonder store sales are down. Each year, almost each time I go into the store, there's just less to buy.
I'm hoping someone will post a used 25% code because a new book that's kind of expensive just came out which has no online discount at all. I haven't figured out why, sometimes, randomly, some products have no online discount, when almost ever other similar item from the same publisher does. Random items not having an online discount is a weird thing. |

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
Never got any snail mail Member coupons. I would call and bitch but it never does any good.
|
Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
Thing is, I used to get them like clockwork. It saddens me to think of how they view their loyal customers who are paying for the special priviliges of membership. I work for Half Price Books and we could make a killing with a paid membership program, but you should see how well we treat our customers- especially if we screw up.
|
Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
No, I've had a membership continuously for 10+ years. I know it's no big deal now, but I figure I'm paying for those coupon mailers...the last time I got one was November/December.

It's both a bit more and a lot less than you think. You need to understand overhead. And I have news for you- it's going to get a lot worse for customers on the selling end. The market is being flooded every month with even more media. What started with CDs went DVDs has finally happened to books. It was the last physical media standing, and the wall has started to crumble hard. |
Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
Any recommendations for an "must-have" Arrow release? I just ordered Requiescant but wouldn't mind picking up another 1 or 2 to burn off the promo cards from December. Was thinking about Nikkatsu Diamond Guys as a blind buy.
