Has anyone tried to use the 25% coupon on criterion blu rays (which are included in the 40% sale)? This would amount to a 55% sale on criterion if doable, even better than the regular 50% sale.

Yes, Actually most of the deals I got were the ship to home orders on WAC items which weren't discounted online. The 40% sale definitely took a hit when they blocked coupons and Criterions. Ship-to-Home is considered same as store sales including member discount - think of it as a large Storeroom across the street from every store in the country.
The only thing different is shipping charges for nonmembers and less than $25 orders. I'm not sure if the 25% code is allowing FS on the STH orders or just web orders Thanks for continuing this thread! |

New GC deal in store only Buy $100 GC get a $10 Reward Card .
Same type deal as teh Nov 75/10 and BF 50/10 and later 100/20 deals. The Reward Card activates on 12/26 and expires 2/28 -- probably the same Blue Cards. Not a bad overall 9% discount as long as you remember to use the Promo Cards |

Unfortunately, I ran into a very difficult B&N staff at the cash register today. A first, she said I couldn't use the 25% coupon on ship-to-home orders because these orders are equivalent to pre-orders (are you serious? where did B&N find such people?). Then, after being told ship-to-home and pre-orders are two different things (no less by 2 of her own colleagues), she proceeded to read the fine print on the coupon and said it can only be used once per customer (well, that is technically correct, but the code is not unique and clearly reusable). So I decided to just place my orders on line, thus forgoing the 10% membership diso****. Luckily, this is compensated by the gift card sale at the store.

There appears to be a 25% Nonmember Coupon STORE ONLY available. BN Frontpage has a big banner that says "PRINT COUPON" which should mean a generic code, but the emails coming out not are Unique Id codes. I don;t see any new exclusions concerning MOVIES, but I'm not sure what's up right now. Once things clear out in the morning I will try to re-post in new details

I just wanted to note that there seems to be quite a few blu rays (primarily arthouse and foreign titles) not discounted by 40% on line. However, if you go to the store and do a ship-to-home, the 40% discount will apply as long as it is not a Disney title.

I don't like this latest trend by BN to allow a percentage off a total certain amount. I normally don't buy that much at one time to take advantage of it and prefer that they'd stick to the one-item discount.
Hopefully, we'll still see as many of the % off one item coupons as we normally have in the past. |

Or if the one item exceeds the free shipping minimum. When it's a smaller item, I like to be able to find several items and get a 15-20% discount on all with free shipping. So a combination of both types of offers is nice. |

I don't really have anything to say, other than remember the company is betting its future on selling $14 grilled cheese sandwiches. This year's bad results are the fruit of seeds planted in the past, like chasing fads (like LP records), depleting store inventory to the point all I see is Not In Stock when I search for things, lack of coupons, higher prices (and lack of online discounts, a stealth price increase), and so on. |
