Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

The problem is obviously with you. I linked to an article on Businesswire.com that discussed B&N's extensive advertising campaign that began in April, and proves you are completely wrong, but you conveniently skipped it or ignored it. Tell you what, I'll past a section of the article so you can't miss it:
I read it when you posted. I noted that is not relevant to what I commented on. My point is not about their sales, it's about their marketing.

There is marketing was not extensive for the tablet. if you want to group Nook collectively, perhaps "tablet" would count, but that does little to help promote a tablet version in the context of an alternative to the Ipad etc.

It would really be nice, if you actually read my comments before replying with comments related to what you think I said.

My comments are not merely related to what I have "seen" on tv. that would be ridiculous. It's related to their overall marketing efforts. I understand that your articles from business publications make you believe that what they have done is comparable to major national campaigns, but it's not.

Yes they are selling them, but that's not my point. I don't know how many more times I need to repeat that.

You're right. One can never win an argument where that's the basis for the other side.

40% off BD sale has started. I don't know if it's for all BDs.

It's not for everything. 2nd title I looked up, Uncle Boonmee, isn't part of the sale online.

The two I wanted were (Halloween II and Battle Beyond The Stars). One of them is a Shout! title which usually aren't part of any (good) sales. Looked up a few other Shout titles and they were all discounted.

Also, the 20% off coupons are working with the sale, which effectively makes the discount 52% off.

I received an email to get 10, 15, 20, 30 or 50% off one item. The code they gave me was for 15%. I'll pass.

Yes, but if you use a coupon you probably won't also get the cash back. At least that's been my experience lately.

Same. I miss abusing the 50% Off Coupons. I really want to pick up the Buster Keaton Kino releases, but after tax they're about $20 and I think eventually there might be a sale on Amazon for a better price.

I wish you were right, but KINO titles, both SD and Blus seem to hold their prices and rarely go on sale. Once in awhile DD will have a KINO sale, but I don't see many reductions on Amazon. KINO has a few Blus I want, but I can't justify even the discounted price of $20 per title. Just like with a lot of Criterions I want, I go without and make my peace with it.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

I'm hoping to pick up Nothing Sacred this week for $15.30 with a 15% off coupon (I've exhausted all the 20% offs). I don't know about anyone else, but $15 just squeaks into my comfort zone for a new catalog release- especially one I've never owned in any other format before.

I know for a fact I got Steamboat Bill Jr and Pandora And The Flying Dutchman Bds in a DD B1G1 sale a couple summers back. It came out to under $12 each. Haven't seen as good a kino sale since though.

I may do the same with A Farewell to Arms, though it's unfortunately bare-bones - luckily I still have a couple of 20% coupons left. I'm irritated that B & N hasn't updated the list-price of Two Evil Eyes, as it's been $19.99 for a while, and they still have it as $29.99. I'm debating Breakfast at Tiffany's for $12.95 after discounts, but may wait until it hits $9.99 on Amazon.

There probably will be some more coupons coming next week. Tomorrow B&N is supposed to have a 25% and 30% coupon valid for one day only. Later in the week I would expect a few more coupons before Christmas.

30% Off One Item Coupon Details:

For each customer, this coupon can be redeemed only once per billing address online at BN.com.

This coupon is valid at BN.com from December 19, 2011 at 12:01am to December 19, 2011 at 11:59pm Eastern Time.

The 30% discount will be applied to the most expensive eligible item in the order - not the entire purchase - and will be deducted after all other eligible discounts, including (if applicable) the standard Member discount, are applied.

Additional Rules Governing Use of this Coupon: This coupon is (i) not redeemable for cash or cash equivalents (including Gift Cards and eGift Cards); (ii) not valid on past purchases; (iii) not eligible for purchases of the following products and services: Barnes & Noble Memberships, Gift Cards, eGift Cards, gift-wrapping, textbooks, video games, digital content (including but not limited to NOOK Books, magazines, and periodicals), NOOK ® devices and their related accessories, other hardware and electronics, software, products available for pre-order, products from the Rosetta Stone Series, products available for in-store ship-to-home orders, or products marked as not eligible for "coupons or promotional discounts," (iv) not valid on purchases made from third parties accessible from the BN.com website (e.g., used books, PC and video games, etc.); (v) not valid on applicable sales tax or shipping or handling expenses; (vi) may not be combined with any other coupon or promotional discount; and (vii) may not be combined with the Educator program discount. This coupon is not valid at Barnes & Noble retail bookstores or Barnes & Noble College bookstores or websites. Barnes & Noble is not responsible for typographical or pictorial errors. This offer is subject to change or discontinuation without notice; we will, however, honor properly placed orders with valid methods of payment with sufficient funds placed prior to such change or discontinuation. Void where prohibited by law.

Sometimes I have seen that in-store will have on sale something that is not online.

Looks like it's online only according to the fine print. Since it's only a one day coupon I wouldn't expect a store coupon. However I am expecting store coupons later in the week.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

Why is it that some times a BN order can be cancelled (removed under the quantity) and some times not? I thought it might have to do with how close the shipping time is, but I just made an order for an item not expected to be shipped until Jan 10th and it states it can't be removed. I've been able to cancel in the past through that option, just can't understand the reasoning of when it is enabled vs. disabled. Any ideas?

Did you try calling customer service (1-800-THE-BOOK)? They're there tonight until 11:00p ET.

I'm not looking to cancel yet. I'm just curious as to why you can sometimes online and other times not. It seems like some of the items I'm interested in take two weeks before they are in stock. While in this case they have a better price then Amazon by $7, I will have some credit at Amazon in the next week or so and might go that route if BN has not shipped yet. I like the ease of online cancellations.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

FYI, I received a generic 25% off online coupon (code F9C7J3C) this morning via e-mail that is only good today (December 19). Did anyone get a 30% coupon?
