Mini FAQ

Free Shipping is $25 (before tax/shipping) or with membership.
Online only a single code can be applied to an order

Return period is 14 days after delivery though possibly it's 30 days now for most people though there is a discrepancy b/w the receipt and website.
Online ordered items can returned to a local store unless it's classified as a web-only item then it's at the store's discretion to accept

Single Item 15% OFF, but should be reusable in different transaction and if the Clerks will scan it more than once.

I'm not going to bother trying to straighten it out as it's only $.54 and I'll get $.04 of that back from my B&N card discount.

Thanks, guess in the future I'll have to keep an eye on these things before clicking 'place order'.
Thanks for the information. I tested all the coupons last night but didn't see anything unusual. Unfortunately it may not happen until an order is completed. I don't know if the military.com link could have contributed or been the problem with your order. When I had a similar problem I placed the order through live.com.

I just want to clarify what you stated above. The coupon states the following:
This coupon may be used once online at bn.com and its mirror sites for each new, valid and current Barnes & Noble Membership purchased between February 5, 2009 and February 25, 2009

Although the coupon expires March 23, you MUST have had a membership between the dates of Feb 5 and 25. If you become a member on Feb 26, the coupon will NOT work online. I know, because I tried this after I got my latest membership...

Okay actually that does make sense if you purchased the membership after the dates listed, but I would assume the later coupon would work since it covers dates after. So far I've been able to use every new coupon since I renewed my membership last year. But you left out the part that appears to limit the coupon to certain areas where the membership was purchased. I don't know how they could actually enforce that online though.

This coupon may be used once online at bn.com and its mirror sites for each new, valid and current Barnes & Noble Membership purchased between February 23, 2009 and March 18, 2009 at Barnes & Noble stores located in CT, MA, ME, MI, NH, NY, RI, as well as in the Wilkes-Barre, Erie, The Shops at Fallen Timbers, and Franklin Park Barnes & Noble stores. Offer is not valid for renewal Memberships, Memberships purchased online, and Memberships purchased at B. Dalton stores.

You are correct on all counts. I intentionally left that part off because they do not enforce it online. I live in WI, and I see you live in CA, both of which are not on the in-store list...

I guess there is one more thing to clarify about the coupon I didn't realize. It has the potential to take $15 off an order and more. I discovered it takes $5 off a DVD, $5 off a CD, and another $5 off on $40 worth of books. You can even buy a 2 B&N classic series books and get one free. You can stack all the offers listed on the coupon on a single order. I took a screen shot of a sample of some things I added to my cart with the discounts applied. I should have read the details more closely. I've gotten too accustomed to the coupons that allow a discount on one item in your cart.

Looks like you were correct. I tried to duplicate the problem and at first I could not when I submitted the coupon to the item in my cart. I had to place an actual order to get it to occur. Mysteriously the price charged to my credit card was increased by a $1.66 to the order! The email I received confirming the order shows only the increased price. You can only see the different price totals when checking the order through your B&N account on the web site. I placed the order going through military.com with a non-member account. I don't know if other coupons are effected, or if there is a glitch with the military.com link that is causing it. I placed an order last week through military.com with my members account and it seemed to work fine with a coupon. I will add a disclaimer to coupon P4U7J8J there is a possible glitch. I would suggest checking all orders closely for errors.

Here's a screen shot showing the error before I canceled the order.

Hey Laser, I found a new discount link:
www.bn.com/workingadvantage
Only 5% off and doesn't mention free shipping with no minimum, HOWEVER it will be 10% off starting March 16! So this will be helpful for non-members that want to place orders over $25

Thanks! I tested it and confirm it does not give no minimum free shipping.

Bummer... Still could be helpful for non-members though, once it hits 10% on March 16...

I just noticed the Pinocchio coupon you added. Great deal for anyone not near a TRU, or anyone wanting to use a gift card...

I was actually considering the Pinocchio deal at B&N until the Amazon deal came around. That was too good to pass up. I just hope Amazon honors the price and doesn't try to pull something sneaky like they have done in the past with some web site glitches.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

Popped my coupon cherry today as new member of the B&N Club and also as a new poster here who just discovered Laser's awesome thread just a few days ago:

First used the Pinocchio Blu-Ray coupon, and then later used a $5.00 coupon to pick up a little gem known as Sunset Boulevard the "centennial collection" for only $10.74 after all was said and done.

Thanks again Laser. This thread is much appreciated.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

One thing I just noticed was that online the Sunset Boulevard is 40% off before the additional members 10% off. Where as at my B&N store here in my neighborhood it was just 30% off before the additional members 10% off.
Would have saved maybe an additional $2.25 give or take online (depending what the shipping would be.......maybe the shipping would have ate some or all of the additional saving, I'm not sure).

I noticed that some items are cheaper online and some items are cheaper in store that I looked at. I was happy with the price I left the store with on both items that I purchased. But I'm always looking to save as much as possible.......it all adds up. So with that being said:

For those of you who have purchased from them and are a little more familiar on their pricing methods than I am. If you place an in store pick up online-when you arrive at the store to pick it up, will they be charging the in store price or the online price? And when you place a ship to home order at the store- will they be charging the online price or the in store price.

Unfortunately B&N does not always have the same prices online and in store, and a B&N store will not price match online prices. However if you do a ship to home order they will order it at the online price, and ship it to your home address.

I have never done a in store pick up but I would assume you would have to pay the store price. Here's a link I found that explains how to reserve online, and pick it up at a local store. If anyone else knows more about it hopefully they will post.

You should not need to pay for shipping on DVDs ordered online that do not qualify for free shipping at the regular B&N.com web site if you use the links on the first page. If your order has a shipping charge you can use either the Visa or Military.com links that are posted on the main coupon page to get no minimum free shipping. If you are not a member the links will also give you either a 5% or 6% discount on your order. If you are a member you still will get your 10% members discounts, but it does not stack with the other discounts mentioned except the free shipping. However the online coupons will stack with the other discounts if used.

Another thing to consider if you intend to make a lot of purchases is to get a B&N Mastercard. You can earn an additional 5% discount on purchases at Barnes & Noble. You also get points on non B&N purchases that will earn a $25 gift card when you reach 2500 points.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

Laser, thank you for all the info. Very much appreciated. And thanks again for the coupons. Was very happy to get both the Pinocchio and Sunset Boulevard discs at the prices those two coupons helped provide. Hope you find some great deals this weekend as well.

I've got another $5.00 coupon burning a whole in my pocket. Will be heading back there again tonight to see if there's anything I can't live without at the right price.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

3 Stooges Collection v5 finally fit the 30% mark, but I can't get either of the current $5 off coupons to work with it! I'm logged into my member account, but I keep "Your order does not qualify for coupon K8H7N7H. Please check the eligibility requirements for this coupon." Is it just me? Laser, I know you were planning on ordering this. Please let me know if it works for you with 3 Stooges. The coupon IS working with other titles I have tried. Perhaps it no longer works with pre-orders?

I noticed it was 30% this morning but couldn't get the $5 coupon to work either when I tired to order it. It did work with some other DVDs that were in stock but when I added a bunch of pre-orders I got the eligibility requirement again. Looks like if you want to use the coupon on the Three Stooges you'll have to wait a few more days.

I have two B&N accounts (not memberships) and was wondering if anyone has ever tried three. Lack of non-member codes has me down.

I have three accounts. One member and 2 non-members. I believe there are no limits to the number of accounts you can have at B&N.

Because of the B&N MC coupon, I think I have over 10 B&N accounts...

Don't forget, the 10% discount at Working Advantage starts today through March 31. This is great for non-members, and for members who want to use a coupon they've already used on their member account.
However, shipping is NOT free if under $25:

I was checking all the other links today on the main coupon page and discovered NSCS Bookstore is running the same 10% offer. However it does not offer no minimum free shipping either. No mention of a 10% discount at the other links that have the free shipping offer.

The coupon is working now. It's showing up $10.74 in my cart. Time to place my order.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

A question for Laser and or anyone else who has used the $5.00 DVD coupon: On the coupon it says minimum price of $15.00. I seen a DVD that I want that is $20.00, then minus 30% ($14.00), minus my member 10% ($12.60). Since after both the sale discount and my member discount it brings the price to below $15.00.......I'm wondering if it will make the coupon not work/invalid? Or does the DVD just have to be over $15.00 on the sticker price regardless of any sale and or member discounts? Each time I've used this coupon, I've never had a price after all discounts below $15.75 before applying the $5.00 off coupon. I'm wondering with price after all discounts being $12.60 on this item (below $15.00) if the $5.00 off coupon will or will not work? Any and all info is much appreciated. Thanks.
