Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
I tried to get the Tron 5 disc set shipped home but when the guy wrang it up the price discount came from the $71.99 price not the ship to home price of $49.59 and he couldn't get it to over ride to the right price, so I cancelled it.
I was able to order the 10 commandments from a store to home
For under $28 including tax.
I also picked up An Affair to Remember for $17. Xx and Planet of the Apes blu ray set for $35.XX.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
Friday I pre-ordered Tron 5D for around 27 bucks shipped.
Also got Watchmen UE DVD for around 11.
Today I had to go back and got:
Ten Commandments set for 26.99 + tax
and the Fly BR for 5.51 (w/tax).
Was thinking about Star Wars, but figured this would be on sale for around $50 SOME TIME in the future.
Thanks LASERMOVIES, esp. for that 10 Commandments, which was a must-buy for me and something I didn't think would be that cheap for a long time (if ever).

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
I think I did pretty well,
I did a couple ship to homes (our Hospitality and an Audio book), a couple in store purchases (Preston Sturges set, nabbed for about 11 is my favorite bargain) on friday. I got the regular ten commandments bluray. I'd happily pay the full price for the six disc edition if it didn't have that giant box-o-crap packaging. I'd really like the silent edition, but I would rather not have that edition than to have to buy something that gargantuan.
Saturday, my girlfriend and I were out running around, we wound up at BN I gave her a couple coupons and she used one on a 6$ bargain book, and another to get Mad Men and Modern family season 1 (she was ecstatic at the savings, I created a convert!), and she used my phone number to get the BN discount. Meantime, I grabbed nondvd stuff, as my wish list is mostly empty, so I got an audio book that was 40% discount already, so after the BN discount and the 50% discount I wound up getting a $60 audio book for about 10. And I picked up a board game that was MSRP 50, for again, about 10 (it was on sale for 50% off to begin with!)
Today I picked up another game, another audio, for pretty much the same deal, bought an anniversary present for the GF and grabbed a book I'd been wanting.
Hardly hit up the DVDs and blurays as hard as I could, I really could empty them out of their sets or stock up on criterion, but I don't have anything I really want right now and most of my purchases from that last few sales are still unwatched. However, what I love about this coupon is that it can be used on anything else in store.

For anyone in Los Angeles, have you found certain stores to be easier using the 50% coupons at than others? The Grove vs Westside Pavilion, for example? I had issues in the past with the $5 off coupon at the Grove during the last Criterion sale, being accused of multi-use when I had only gone their once, and was using a brand new membership card.
Westside isn't too bad. I may be going there in a few minutes to try a couple more items.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
Don't forget you can check out in the cafe most of the time, as well, that's the easiest way to pass a single coupon, that is, if, of course you're not getting a dvd.
In los angeles, I've had an okay experience at the Grove before, but I think they definitely see more people with laser's coupons than any other stores, I guess it's where all the plugged in film school students (and recent grads) go to shop. I think they get hit hardest on Criterions, and if you're not hitting those you probably won't have a problem. I've only had one coupon refused there, and it was when I was trying to stack a five off fifty with a five off, they still let me use one of them. Grove is totally YMMV, it's the only place I've had a clerk volunteer to just keep using my coupon on separate transactions because she was trying to save me money. :-p
Westside pavillion has a very scattershot dvd area, but a good choice if you're trying to get STH because they probably won't have it in stock. They're definitely not A-list for DVDs, but they are A-List stop for two other reasons: Free parking, and Four places to check out (Cafe, first, second, third floors)
Third street promenade sucks balls. You'll have to pay for parking (and do not tempt the santa monica parking police they will nail you every time, if you're out of your car for two minutes you'll get a ticket. The cafe is separate from BN proper, the DVD section is really well stocked, but they're hard on coupons and the store layout is confusing to me, for some reason.
I've had no problems at the Glendale Galleria and Manhattan Beach as well, but really it's only 3rd street I avoid going to.

I went to BN today and the lady who checked me out last Friday was there. I asked her nicely whether I can use the coupon AGAIN and she replied "I am not going to stop you." How nice! I used it with membership discount and buy one tv set and get one half off!
Colonel Kenbenobi, it was me who picked up the last copy of the ten Commandments!

Well, I played hard. This was basically just another B&N Criterion sale for me. This despite the fact that I've been sick all week:

Thanks for the info.
Picked up "The Complete Thin Man Collection" for $26.99. It had a discount for 10% plus that 50% coupon. All the discs were mint. I'm happy.

Grabbed the 2-disc 10 Commandments for $13 and change. The sales clerk commented that all of the coupons he had seen were for 50% off. This was at a B&N that is close to a large university so it's likely all those millenial types using and abusing the coupons.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
Was at the Nwport B&N earlier tonight. Took a BD and coupon up to the register in the movies/music dept. The guy was having trouble scanning the coupon. He scanned the barcode a few times and it wouldn't scan, so he started reading the instructions on the coupon carefully. He told me he was new and this was the first coupon he'd encountered. I said "no problem." He scanned the barcode about four more times and it finally scanned and took off the 50% discount.
I gathered my purchase and went out to see if there was a book I wanted. I found one and headed to the register with another coupon. The cashier there had wandered away because there were no customers. He was fiddling with a book display when his cellphone rang and he checked it. He saw me at the register and said, "I'll be right there."
I heard him talking on his phone saying, "Yeah, first you scan the items and then you scan the coupon." And then he says, "Oh yeah, be aware that there's a scam that's been going on this week with a 50 percent off coupon. If you scan a coupon and it shows 50 percent off...."
As soon as I heard that, I immediately hurried away and kept myself well out of the cashier's eye view. Then I headed upstairs. Luckily there was a register open up there. I took a chance and decided to try buying the book with the coupon. Fortunately the cashier upstairs didn't seem to be aware of any "scam" and rang me up without a hitch.
I hate these cashiers who think they have to be the coupon police

So which lady are you referring to? The older lady with the gray hair?
BTW, I almost didn't notice you actually said "Colonel!"

As I read through the recent posts, I realize all of the great bargains I could have had if I had used the coupon more:
The Great Dictator
Taxi Driver (I just kept my Amazon order)
The Thin Man Collection
and much more... I wish the coupon had a few more days left... It's really my fault for not going to B&N at all on Saturday. I was just too busy that day...

Sure, once the 3D box set comes out in 2018... SW isn't a title I could wait for. I must have it immediately upon release, and I will watch the entire thing in one weekend, including the extras...

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
Well, another B&N sale successfully concluded. If form holds, we may see this again in another 60 days….who knows?
Let’s hope our exuberance with the 50% off coupons was but a small dent in the system, and it will go unnoticed. Otherwise, let’s hope that their memories are short, and this doesn’t become an action item on the next Sales Manager conference call. B&N should realize that this coupon drives a lot of foot traffic to their stores, resulting in sales of other merchandise such as magazines, greeting cards, and café items.
Once again, a special thanks to LASERMOVIES for all his work in keeping this thread up, and getting the information out early. Also, a big thanks to all the other combat correspondents out there providing dispatches from the field.

I seriously wonder if all of the other websites which post the 50% coupon steal it from here. I'm 99.9% positive that Lasermovies posts the coupons before ANY other site...

It sucks living so far from B&N, but I got a couple things. I got Star Wars ordered last time, and I was able to get LOTR this time. I also picked up Waiting for Superman and Inside Job for $12.24 each plus tax. My closest store (almost an hour) is really a stickler about one coupon per member. Glad to hear so many of you were able to do well.
