Sherlock: Season 1 [BD] isn't either. It also shows OOS at all of my closest B&Ns (none of which are actually that close in distance) :(

The British sale ends Sunday, according to my store...

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

I've never been the guy to try multiple coupons at B&N, thinking the deals were good enough. Well, tonight I got greedy and it paid off. I used two $5 coupons, a $10 games coupon, and the $5 off $50 coupon all in one transaction without issue. I got Dr Who S5 for $32.36, Being Human S1 for $11.85, and Muppets Yahtzee for $7.24. Add 5.6% tax, but then deduct 5% for B&N MC after tax, and that's about a wash. FANTASTIC deal. I must go back tomorrow for more!

EDIT: FRACK! I didn't know about the printable 20% off coupon. I could have saved even more on Dr. Who if I had used that instead of a $5 coupon... Another $3.10. Oh well...

My store didn't have it, either...

EDIT: Damn, the store the furthest away from me has it in stock. I hate to drive that far, but I do want this. I am having it held for me...

Hmm, canceled my Spaced order and re-ordered with the 20% coupon and 8% cashback. Not bad! After cashback it should come to around $23.

Damn cashier wouldn't take my 5 dollars off coupon tonight. My wife used one right in front of me and she wouldn't let me use mine as she said it wouldn't work as it was tied to our membership. That's bullshit as I used the same coupon a half hour earlier at another store and it worked then and again for my wife. It fucking pisses me off when they play the mighty role and not just scan the damn thing to see if it will actually go through. I didn't bother arguing with her and just got my Doctor Who set and got the fuck out of there.

None of the stores here have it and they said they have an expected arrival date of December 30th as it is on backorder even at the warehouse. I really want this but I'm not going to be able to get it during the sale! Fuck!

Wow, that's shorter than I thought. Still, if you can find it in-store, it's the same price as a Criterion during the sale, so well worth $13...

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

It is my understanding that anything that is not in stock at a particular store can be ordered for ship-to-store and they will honor the sale price when the item arrives. I did this at two different B&N locations during the Criterion sale and had no problems picking up my orders after the sale at 50% off. --Peter

Wait. You used a coupon that clearly says "once per membership" three times in 30 minutes and are pissed that you couldn't use it a 4th time?

Damn right! Especially since at some stores that are even encouraging coupon use. If they really wanted to make this one use and ensure that it was only good for one use then the coupons need to actually be unique and flag the account when you use it. I understand your point but I wasn't pissed that I couldn't use it but rather that the cashier told me it wouldn't work without even trying when I knew that she was full of shit. Also, we only used the coupon twice as my wife used it once and I used it once.

That page does not show actual dates. So to confirm: The sales dates online and in store are Monday, December 6 through end of day Sunday, December 12?

(I have Doctor Who Series 5 reserved at a B&N ~25 minutes away so I can get the 50% off, plus 20% off coupon, plus 10% off membership, plus 5% rebate for B&N MasterCard, and I'd rather wait until tomorrow to go get it if the sale will still be on.... It's out of stock at the one five minutes away, unfortunately.)

Looks like B&N changed their policy regarding ordering OOS items and still honor the sale price when they come in. Luckily I'd ordered what I needed on Wednesday and they showed up today.

Cary, NC store still gets major kudos for liberal use of the $5 coupon. I decided to upgrade all my Dr Who DVDs that I'd gotten from Amazon UK (technically same transfers, but the Pioneer that I'll likely be watching these on does not handle the PAL-NTSC conversion as nicely as I'd like). I probably had 40+ transactions (I was amazed they had every title in stock).

So what is the cheapest way to get the Specials on Blu? In store or online?

Classic Films 12-11-10 08:38 PM

Re:

Thank you so much for the 20% off coupon. I got Doctor Who Season 5 in blu for $32.40 plus tax. Odd it wasn't on sale at bn.com. I order on line using in store pick up to make sure the store had it in stock. Price quoted by store was the sale price and I had no problem using coupon and membership for additional discount.

$90 list price for this is insane. That is really the problem with BBC and Acorn British Shows. The list prices are extremely high. I would love the MI - 5 series but even with this sale the prices are still too high for me.

Went back on Sunday and picked up Torchwood Season 2 in blu for $28.79 plus tax after 20% off and 10% membership discount
and Doctor Who Specials in blu for $21.60 plus tax after the discounts.

And a sad good bye to the Lincoln Center store in NYC. It will be closing on January 2. No going out of business sale at this location per an employee. They will just ship inventory to other stores. Another place I can't go during lunch.

Placed orders for some more Doctor Who on DVD. Figure this is the time to get into the show, when I can get a lot of the stuff for cheap, what with 50% Off plus the additional online coupon codes. Thanks everyone who posted any of the non-member coupons.

Well, I used it twice last night, and twice tonight. I went back in the store a few minutes later for one more title that I decided to get, and the guy very nicely and politely stated that the coupon is meant for one-time use, and pointed out that he has allowed me to use it multiple times thus far, but this would be the last time. I just happened to get the same cashier as last night, who happened to be a manager. He probably thought I'd been using that coupon like crazy at other locations, too, but I actually hadn't used it at all until last night and today at that store. I thanked him for being so kind, and told him that was fair enough. I do not intend on attempting to use it again (at that store). And since my membership will be done after this month, I likely won't be using the next $5 coupon that comes around anyway.

The funny thing is I actually screwed myself 2 of the 4 times I used the coupon, since the 20% coupon would have been better. Maybe then he wouldn't have scolded me if I had been using different coupons. Oh well...

I'll probably do that, too. I bought a few in-store today, but there's so many I don't have, I really need to go crazy online and get the rest. The Lost In Time and Beginning sets are both considerably cheaper online ($13.29 vs. $19) but I goofed and bought one in-store before I realized that. However, I accidentally used a $5 coupon on it, which shouldn't have been eligible since it was only $19 not $20... So it worked out about the same in the long run...
I'm really digging the multi-disc sets because the extra features are ridiculously good. I'm just bummed that some of the DVD's I already owned have been re-released as Special Editions with more features... You expect that for movie releases, but I never would have expected it for Doctor Who...

It pisses me off to find out that the Key to Time set has been re-released with a shitload of extra features and improved video after I spent a pretty penny on it not too long ago.

I so rarely attempt to use the 5/5/5 coupon for the full $15 off, but last night I tried to. But the things I wanted only added up to $49.99! ARGH! So I had to find a filler item. In case this happens to anyone else, I found an interesting filler item. We're all film buffs here, so this may be of interest to others:
http://search.barnesandnoble.com/Fil...ies+sparkchart
The rest of my order:
Doctor Who Beginning $11.98
Ray Harryhausen BD Box Set $27.94
Katy Perry MTV Unplugged CD/DVD $5.15
Film Studies Sparkchart $0.76
Total: $45.83

So I ended up going to Barnes & Noble today to try and use the 15% Off In-Store Coupon on Doctor Who: The Complete Fifth Series, since online it isn't 50% Off. Worked out to $36.37, which is a pretty good deal. Might go back later and try to use the Coupon on either Silver Nemesis or Revenge Of The Cybermen, since neither are 50% Off on the website.
