I don't have a Barnes & Noble Membership, so I can't benefit from most of the added discounts. Despite these semi-regular 50% sales, I just don't get enough from there to really justify it.

---

I hate how Barnes & Noble's Website doesn't have the same prices as its stores, and that they won't price-match.

If you own a region-free player I'd check Amazon.uk, as most of these sets can be found much cheaper there.

It's going to suck if they discontinue the AAA partnership. I've gone from being able to stack AAA with coupons, to using AAA OR a coupon (but not both), and on the Criterion sale coupons can't be used. So if they do the sale again, it could be a straight 50% off...still beats just about everywhere, but nothing like it used to be.

I guess everybody's going through the same thing with whatever discounts they used to use.

Interesting...I don't see the "Coupons cannot be used on this item" disclaimer on anything now.

Of course, I just bought it at Amazon. The funny thing about this is it isn't a British show; it's Canadian.

Slings & Arrows is one of my all-time absolute favorite blind buys. My girlfriend and I couldn't stop watching it, and then when we got to the end we had that "my life sucks now that there is no more of this show to watch" feeling for about a week. Anyone who has ever praised a show for being "smart" really needs to check it out.

Use code CCabinBN for 15% off the highest priced item. Just worked for me, bought the 1964 BBC Sherlock Holmes and set 2 of Callan. Total came to $30.38 before tax. Together these retail for $80. Not too shabby. Now I can forget about ordering the former from deepdiscount...

I saw that and cringed, because I only just recently opened my DVD set. If I had known a BD set was coming out, I would have waited. I read a review, and S1 is actually upconverted. It wasn't shot in HD, whereas S2 & S3 were. The BD exclusive is 3 episodes with commentary (one from each season). That isn't enough to justify me upgrading, seeing as I won't get much for my opened DVD set. But I do agree that this is a great purchase, especially for the price. My future bride, Rachel McAdams is in the S1 cast. I wish she was in every season... It was a worth purchase just for her...

I think I'm probably going to get the two Being Human BD seasons. I'll use the $5 coupon on S2, and a 15% coupon on S1. I've never seen it, but I hear nothing but good things...

They're having problems processing payments with PayPal. If you try to pay and don't get an order number, the order didn't go through.

I cringed when I saw it too. I really wanted this set so when it dropped to $38 at Amazon I couldn't wait any longer. Now I can get it for under $30. That's the nature of the beast; there will always be a lower price someday. It's just frustrating when it's only a few day after the lowest price it's ever been.
For those without Blu-ray, B&N has the SD set for $24.

I received a 70% off one item coupon (yes, you read that right) - valid for one week only, must log in with the e-mail address coupon was sent to. I cleared all the cookies and browsing history from my computer...clicked on the link form the e-mail and copied/pasted the coupon code - and could not get it to work. I tried just about everything:

Alien Anthology, Doctor Who S5 Blu-Ray, BBS Blu Ray Set, Are You Being Served Complete Series, BRD Criterion Set, New Stephen King book, Third Man blu-ray

Every time it said the coupon was not valid for that purchase. I could understand certain things (like Are You Being Served)...but none of the other items were on sale (nothing more than 10 or 15%)...I even tried the Stephen King book just to see if it was the DVD's or blu-rays that were not valid.

So - anyone have any suggestions on what I might be doing wrong, or how I can go about using this coupon?

Have you read the fine print of the coupon carefully to see if there is some sort of restriction preventing the coupon from working? If not I would call customer service and see if they could place an order for you with the coupon. Since you can't get it to work with your account and email address you have no other alternative.

Proglodite 12-06-10 09:41 PM

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

The fine print (see below) seems fairly standard. Again, I tried just about everything (DVD's, blu-rays and books - stuff on sale and stuff that wasn't). I had the same problem with the 50% off and gave up in frustration. With 70% I'm willing to be a little more persistent ;)

"...is only valid once per customer, per billing address, on a first-time online purchase at BN.COM."

If I'm reading this correctly it says you can only use this coupon on the first purchase ever made with that account on BN.com. If you have ever used that account before the coupon is ineligible.

but how about the Blu-Ray Doctor Who Complete Specials 29.99 and add a coupon like 15% and even with 8% tax still around $27. Amazon is at $34. That is about $7 that can buy another classic Doctor who like Ark in Space.

That could be true...but if so, why keep sending e-mails like this to me? BTW, I'm not sure if I've ever made an BN online purchase from this e-mail account (I'll have to check my order history on my work computer tomorrow).

Here is my theory. Is it possible you ordered something but later it canceled by you or B&N. Maybe something like that happened, and B&N is sending the emails because their system is treating it like you never made a purchase. It might also explain why the coupon is not working. A canceled order might technically be considered a first purchase even though nothing was ever billed to the account, which could be the reason the coupon is not working.

Whatever you find out I would still try calling customer service. I don't see any other alternatives if you can't get the coupon to work. I wouldn't mention the first purchase stipulation though in the conversation. Just tell them they sent the coupon and you can't get it to work with your email address. If they can't get the coupon to work hopefully they could place the order and manually adjust the price.

I want to order a board game (Rummikub Large Numbers Edition) from B&N. Price is $17.46 (with 30% off and free shipping). Amazon's price is $19.12.

It seems like the best strategy is to sign up for the free 2-month membership (to get the free expedited shipping), then use the H4W9V7M code (30% off Kid's book, toy, or game). Does that sound like the best way to go?

I thought about using one of the links that offers free shipping (VISA, Boeing) but it looks like toys can't be ordered through those BTOB links:

! The following merchandise cannot be purchased on the Barnes & Noble.com Business to Business order path. If you wish to checkout with your current contents, please return to www.bn.com.

Hey LASERMOVIES, thanks for posting some more non-member 15% off coupon codes. I ended up placing four orders (used the 20% off code and all three 15% off codes) for some Doctor Who DVDs. The additional discounts made it easier to pull the trigger, so thanks!

Here is a code for 5% off your entire order. I know it's a small percentage, but if you are ordering many items at once it could be useful:

I'll add that code to the first page. It's valid until May 30, 2011.

Ran across a few store and online coupons that might be useful for toy and game purchases with a Mastercard. Valid from December 8 to December 13.

Off the DVD topic, but has anyone tried to use the Melissa and Doug BOGO 50% sale in the toys department? I can't seem to make it work unless I put 3 items in the cart.

Thanks for the toy coupons. That's a pretty good deal. I'm going to take a trip up there and see if I can find any bargains for Christmas gifts...
