Are you sure the bonus discs are included from the original non-thin pack seasons? AFAIK, they have only released the X-Files 3 ways:
- Original series sold separately with extra bonus DVDs
- Thin packs sold separately withOUT extra bonus DVDs
- Ultimate Collection (61 discs) with all thin packs withOUT extra bonus DVDs

I'm assuming Costco is selling the Ultimate Collection for $120. If Costco has put together a 4th release containing the 9 missing bonus DVDs (70 discs total), someone please post so I can buy them before they're gone.

DVD Talk's own review makes it clear that the bonus discs are all included, and the episode guide indicates this as well. The bonus documentaries from the "Mythology" series DVDs are included as well (on a "Special Features" DVD packed in with the movie).

I checked each DVD release on Amazon, and used the disc counts in my calculations below.

If you add up the thin pack DVDs, you get the following:
Season 1: 6 discs
Season 2: 6 discs
Season 3: 6 discs
Season 4: 6 discs
Season 5: 6 discs
Season 6: 6 discs
Season 7: 6 discs
Season 8: 6 discs
Season 9: 7 discs
Total: 55 discs

If you do the same for the original DVDs, you get this:
Season 1: 7 discs
Season 2: 7 discs
Season 3: 7 discs
Season 4: 7 discs
Season 5: 6 discs
Season 6: 6 discs
Season 7: 6 discs
Season 8: 6 discs
Season 9: 7 discs
Total: 59 discs

Since the Collector's Set has 1 disc for the movie, and 1 for the "Mythology" docs, that leaves 59 discs left for all of the seasons. As you can see, that matches up with the original DVD release count.

Yep...as author of that review, I can certainly vouch for the contents.
All of the bonus discs are included on that sumbitch.

By the way, it's also worth noting that the UCE packaging herds each season (with its respective bonus disc, in a nice, compact hardcover book (jewel-case sized, roughly). The bonus bonus disc with the Mythology stuff is packed with Fight the Future in a thinner hardcover book. Here's a picture from the review, since we're on the subject.

Does any know if Costco is currently selling the "Pinky & the Brain" volumes? If so, do you know the cost? Thanks so much...

Can anyone who got the X-files or 007 sets comment on the UPCs? Sometimes costco has the mfgr covers up the orginal UPC with a costco-specific one. I'm curious if there's another packaging part that shows the "standard" upc?

I'm really wanting to know if these are exactly the same as the normal retail versions.

For example the costco UPC for 007 is 027616099181 but normal UPC is 027616093486
XFiles - Costco 024543476788 normal not sure, but I think I saw something elsewhere.

There's nothing covering the UPC on the X-Files set. It's the same # you mentioned. On the underside of the paper sleeve where the UPC code is, there's an electronic patch covering it with an electronic strip next to it.

BTW, the free movie tickets are inside the drawer with the booklet, etc...

FYI: They have John Adams for $34.99 with an exclusive Audiobook CD with MP3 files.

Also, all seasons of "24" are on sale for $19.99.

Do you know if they carried the 24 Season 1 Special Edition in a Tin Box? Would that fall under the $19.99 sale too? TIA!

No, they didn't have the season 1 SE, just the old version.

The Audiobook sounds like an interesting extra. Is it from McCullough's book? If so, I assume it's not the entire 752 page novel.

I saw that Amazon has a movie tie-in Audiobook. I wonder if this is what Costco is bundling with the DVD:

The picture on the back (where it shows about the exclusive) matches the Amazon link.

Thanks for the heads-up on the AHP sets. I notice that they dropped to $19.99 on Amazon as well, so that might be an option for you non-Costco folks.

Starting 7/28 Costco has a coupon for $10 off Universal TV Sets. Not sure if these will be included to make them $9.99 each.

Ad says "Selections vary by location. Additional titles available on these three item numbers. No item limit per coupon."

ITEM 285664, 290583, 290881

Picture shows: The Office S3, House S3, Heroes S1, Monk S5, 30 Rock S1.

Knowing Costco, the first 4 seasons will likely be the old digi-pak fold-out cases and not the newer slim cases.

I probably got the number wrong with so much copying-and-pasting. But anyway, that only helps my point, because it would reduce the disc count for the thin packs even further.

Not a problem. I was trying to be certain of the thin pack amounts and found your post, leading me to hope you were right.

Back to the Costco topic, while there recently I found a sadly orphaned Sweeny Todd set living among the Juno sets, and a lovely Hitchcock signature edition box for $44 (a day after buying it from Amazon for $55). I also saw those new M*A*S*H sets TVshowsonDVD talked about, didn't know what to make of them (though if they're like the X-Files slim sets, they probably lack something on each of them).

Just to be thorough on the X-Files collection. While it is almost complete, the audio commentaries unique to the Mythology sets were not carried over into the Ultimate Collection.

More on topic, I just saw Mae West and Marlene Dietrich collections for $14.99 each.
