i was hoping to give this to my nephew for his birthday on 1/24. yeah, that happened.

FU dvdplanet & google checkout! and i won't even mention the poor customer service i've received. i guess i'll just chalk it up to a $16.64 loss and go on with my life.

I just ordered Bicycle Thieves from DVDplanet using Google checkout.

And I immediately regretted my decision.

Such adamant hate for Dvd Planet. That's okay, though....I still love 'em.

We wouldn't be "hating" them if they had good service...

I ordered one movie from DVD Planet back on 1/8 and got it about 3 weeks later. I have another order from 1/17, and a couple more since, and no sign of any of them yet.

Is there some reason they take so long? I've had orders from other places showing up within days that are shipping media mail and from farther away.

My Mouchette dvd took 23 days to get to me from shipping notice... and I live about 5 hours away... Then on a second order it only took 4 days... Not real consistant... I have had a couple of orders lost but they have sent replacements without a problem... for all larger orders I always do 2 day UPS shipping... It's worth the peace of mind... Otherwise the 'free' shipping is always an adventure.

Well, my stuff came today. City of God was a "floater" but it seems to be playing fine. THANK GOD BECAUSE I AM NOT WAITING TO GET A NEW COPY.

Well, today I received the "Conversations with Other Women" which I had ordered on 1/5. I never received a shipment notice, and status through Google still shows "in progress". They never replied to the shipment date query I sent them 2 days ago.

They have kinks to work out in this whole Google system.

If I were you I would request a new copy - floaters can play fine on one player and have problems on another. So, you may have problems if/when you upgrade to a new player. If you have a pc dvd burner, you could rip it and make a backup copy to watch in the meantime while you are waiting for the replacement, which is perfectly legal al long as you own an original copy of the disc. Since you have paid for it and are just waiting for a replacement copy of the damaged disc, I would say you technically own the disc, so I wouldn't worry about any legal/moral issues.

Also, I recently had to have a floater replaced by DvdPlanet, and they went ahead and sent the new copy without asking me to return the damaged copy first, which is usually not the norm for them, so I guess it depends on the CSR you talk to - maybe you'll get lucky. The csr I talked to told me to wait until I get the new item before returning the old one - reason being that the floater was in a 5-disc box set, and If i get another set with a floater, hopefully it will be a different disc and I can replace the damaged discs between the two sets so I have a complete, undamaged set and wouldn't have to deal with another return.

Roy

Just went through all my Hotmail address that I created to use the promotion with, if I ever get some money

The last three 3 accounts I did all had the email saying they found out that I had created more than one account, and have suspended them. However, the $10 discount still works and my account is still there on one of the accounts I tried.

It's a sad day, Dvd Empire is sold out of their 99 cent cases.....a sad day, indeed.

Did you use the same credit card on them?

How many accounts did you set up at the same time?

Does anyone know why I get "Oops! dvdplanet.com has sent Google a shopping cart with errors in it. ..." message everytime I try to check out a $11.95 movie?

Some dvds just don't work if you go through google checkout. If you add something with it, it will work fine, but of course, you lose some of the discount.

What title is it btw?

One credit card for them all -- we don't have one time use cards in New Zealand yet. Three accounts set up over the course of 2 weeks.

What has worked for me, with access to only one credit card for online spending, is ordering one item at a time. I don't use another email address until the last order I made has shipped. No emails from Google so far.

If you look at their job listings, they are still looking for someone to work on Google Checkout to detect fraud, etc... and it's a temp job.
