I just got the following email from PayPal, and I think it's worth posting in this thread:

Thank you for participating in the Beta program for the PayPal Virtual Debit Card. Recently, we discovered that some payments made with the PayPal Virtual Debit Card are being declined when they shouldn’t be. We are working diligently to correct this within the next few weeks.

Thank you for your patience as we work through this issue. As a Beta participant, your feedback helps us make important improvements to the product. You can send feedback to [email protected] or simply reply to this email.

Sincerely,

PayPal
I've only used it for the Google Checkout deal, so I'm sure that's what they're talking about.

Yeah, I got the same email. Hopefully, they get it fixed so I can stop staring at all these blasted $1 charges.

Hmm. Less than a week to have a working account if you want to take advantage of the deal.

There are some books I'd like to order from Buy.com, but if the THEORETICAL Deepdiscount.com sale THEORETICALLY includes books, that THEORETICAL deal would probably save me more $.

Fortunately, the last day to create an account is the 15th, which is also the THEORETICAL date that DeepDiscount's THEORETICAL sale might start.

My last order with the Paypal Virtual Card failed to go through, even after updating it twice.

You used the same card too many times. Watch your email for a letter from Google saying you've been caught abusing the coupon.

Tried again and the Paypal VC went through this time. This must be what that email was about since that last order wasn't registering on Paypal either. Hope they get it fixed for good.

yep, i got that email on 2 accounts i had. THen i have a 3rd where the order is in limbo and i think google canceled it. (it says pending in google, it says it was submited, but the vendor doesnt have record of the order)

THey all used the same credit card. Is it the credit card or the bill to or ship to name they are catching? I have another card, i wonder if I could use it a few more times. There are 2 more things id like to get under this promotion

It goes by the credit card. You should be able to make an order with a new card and possibly sneak in another.

Ditto: I've found it to all be based on the credit card.

I've made 19 orders with 5 different cards. All with the same shipping address. Not sure why I am sneaking through when others are not. I do not re-use a card until the previous item with that card has shipped.

I received the DVD today. A couple of other DVDs I ordered from dvdplanet were shipped quickly and arrived in a few days.

If you are dialup, best to goto a high-speed connection.

IF can't, try hitting BACK and refresh and forward in different combinations and you might get lucky. That is what I did, but found that a high-speed connection is best.

What does the error message say? I use dial-up and I haven't had an error due to that since the last Google deal, several months ago.

Yep, I have occasionally received the error page and try to back out of it. I have had more success using IE as well.
