Re: DVDs at Ross - Dress for Less!

Finally found a Casablanca, never seen it but as a cinefile I guess it's required viewing. Also picked up a Harry Potter HDDVD as a gag gift (unfortunately it looks like it's a combo so I guess it will turn out to be somewhat useful).

Guys and Dolls Deluxe was there and of course there was a Dreamgirls box.

Picked up The Outsiders: The Complete Novel (2 Disc SE) & The Final Cut for $3.99 each. Also noticed a lot of new Super Bowl titles. I almost bought the complete Superbowl 1-5 for $5.99? until I realized that I don't like football. If you do, and are interested in retro Super Bowls it is worth a trip to Ross this week.

Re: DVDs at Ross - Dress for Less!

found Superman Returns 2disc WS SE. Only saw full screen or 1 disc WS before. $3.99

and a LOTR:TT with Smeagal figurine for $9.99. Not into collecting those, but that seemed a reasonable price to me.

So they are definitely getting new stuff in frequently.

Picked up a Casablanca set tonight for $6.99, and they had a shitload of Inglorious Basterds, a few No Country For Old Men's, and lots of other things I was surprised to see but didn't get. Because I'm just that selective.

Grabbed a Casablanca, saw Wizard of Oz but passed on it.

Funny thing is, I haven't read this thread in ages, so both were a complete surprise.

Re: DVDs at Ross - Dress for Less!

Saw the Wizard of Oz 3 Disc set for $6.99 or $5.99, corners were smooshed in so I didn't buy it. Also saw Lady in the Water, V for Vendetta, both full screen 2 disc versions.

A movie about a spelling bee I almost bought (felt like a 2 disc set). Steven King set, Yes Man barebones. Twister (surprising that wasn't snatched up considering the location).

Nothing too amazing, going to have to stop going for awhile, "to watch pile" is out of control.

Every time I go into a Ross store, I'm amazed at the DVD selection; usually there isn't a lot I'm interested in getting, but the selection is a lot better than what you'd expect for the kind of store it is. You could theoretically build a pretty decent collection if you shopped there often enough and were open minded as to what sorts of movies you'd be willing to spend money to own.

Saw a couple new ones yesterday. An Elvis 6 disc box with titles from the 2007 campaign that Big lots has been carrying individually priced @ $19.99, & the 2 disc Charlie & the Chocolate Factory @ $3.99.

Re: DVDs at Ross - Dress for Less!

I forgot to mention, my local Ross (Tacoma, WA) Has a bunch of the NFL boxes that big lots had last year @ $3.99. Also found a Wizard Of Oz today for $6.99. So they haven't raised all of them to $24.99 as has been reported.

Re: DVDs at Ross - Dress for Less!

Picked up Star Wars the Clone Wars movie 2 dvd set for $3.99. Saw the big Wizard of Oz box but it was marked $29.99. Even had them scan it just in case and it was priced as marked. Would have loved it for $6.99. Saw the history of the Dallas Cowboys, Steelers 5 greatest games, Raiders 3 greatest games and Amerca's Game the Cowboys all for $3.99. Normally, I would have picked up all the NFL stuff but I'm stinkin' broke.

Anyone who can snag a Wizard of Oz for me for $6.99 would be doing me a favor.

Edit: Saw the Elvis box set for $19.99 too.

I think people are talking about 2 different versions. Not 1 version at 2 price points.

There's this one but I'm not sure if that's the 24.99 one: http://www.amazon.com/Wizard-70th-Anniversary-Ultimate-Collectors/dp/B001MS7HX2/ref=sr_1_9?s=dvd&ie=UTF8&qid=1283554103&sr=1-9

Anyone want to verify since I'm just assuming and haven't seen either one?
This was my thought as well.

Wow I wouldn't think there'd be anything decent at Ross, I'm going to head there tomorrow since it's only a few miles away from me.

Seconding that . I haven't seen any more of them since I picked up mine, but I don't go to Ross all that often even though there's one right next door to my workplace.
