I completely agree. 4 months ago, I had never bought even a single dvd from Tower as they were always overpriced. But something has definitely changed. Since the beginning of this year I've purchased Sin City LE, Arrested Development S2, Walk the Line CE, and now King Kong. I don't know why they've decided to start competitively pricing their dvds, but I'm all for it!

So, remembering your post, I headed up to the Tustin store (it's on my way home anyway) and the supervisor had no problem doing it for me. Especially since I told her people I knew (thanks alfredog1976) had used it in the same store earlier today.

Production Diaries are $18.38 at BN.com ($16.54 for members). Not sure if that is in store as well.
Anyone know if the price also applies to their b&m stores?

Maybe they don't want to go bankrupt.

The two disc set has a foil embossed logo on it. I got it on a price adjustment at my WalMart for $15.97.

I was just about to place an order at Tower.com and then I noticed that they were going to charge me tax. Anyone have any idea why I'd be charged tax if they don't have a physical presence in Michigan?

So? You'd buy it in a store here for $16.99 if you saw it, wouldn't you?

I'll order it if I can find something to get up to $20 for the free shipping.

Er, not really the answer I was looking for. I'm just curious since they don't have to collect sales tax. They're just pocketing that money. Yeah, yeah, it's not much, I know, but I'm sure it adds up.

I'm just looking for the cheapest price, that's all.

Well, if you want the 2-disk, you likely won't get any cheaper than that this week.

Ok, everyone, check this out:

I just left Stop & Shop Supermarket with a King Kong 2-disc SE for $14.99!!!

I was at Walmart and kept balking about the price there just on the single disc...so I go across the parking lot to Stop & Shop to get some food and both the single and the 2-disc were $14.99 with your shopper card ($5 off the single, $8 off the 2-disc) This was at the Waterbury, CT store. If I'm not mistaken, this beats Tower Records 2-disc price. Unfortunately, it's a regional store chain (New England states only I think)

They didn't charge me tax in Wisconsin.

I'm guessing it's not the same at the B&M.

Tower is owned by MTS, which also owns some other stores, such as Good Guys, I believe. So if you have one of those in your state, they have to charge you tax.

Much ado about nothing - I was expecting something interesting from Wal-Mart as well.

Instead, went w/ Target, used $3 off PJ coupon, got the Target comic (which I will second as a great insert, did that as soon as I opened it) for $17.99.

It was a false info about it... basically all Kong two disc releases carry the same slipcover.

Here is my copy (I bought mine from Target).. and YES, the slipcover at the left side of the picture is the same slip case from Walmart (the so called foil cover.. )

I think its NY/NJ too. I'll be near a Stop & Shop on Saturday - do you think they're on sale through the end of the week?

My first order from Tower goes bad. But they seem to have good customer service and the bad hub isn't their fault.
I received my replacement today as well as the envelope in which to send the bad one back. Tower customer service was great. Just three days from getting the bad one to getting the replacement.

Very cool. I'll keep Tower in mind for the future.
