Using Papa John's Coupon

Went to Circuit City after work took the dvd (King Kong) priced $13.99 to the counter gave them the coupon. Was told the coupon could not be used with any other coupon or on discounted price. They said since it was normally $19.99 that I had 2 choices I could use the coupon and get $3 off the $19.99 price or I could not use the coupon and get it for $13.99. I told them there was a third choice. I was going to Wal-mart to buy it. Damn Circuit City.

OK...I just don't get expedited shipping. Am I missing something? On Tuesday afternoon, I ordered KK from Tower.com along with the SACD version of Ziggy Stardust to get over the free shipping minimum, and I received it Thursday. Yet, if I wanted it shipped 2nd biz day, I would've had to pay $10. This is not uncommon. My Amazon orders--no matter how big or how small--always arrive the 2nd biz day. I would've felt cheated if I paid extra for 2nd day.

LOL That's why I rarely shop at CC....My walmart did the deal at 13.97 and still gave me the $3.00 off.

I read the coupon...it's like cash to them...All they have to do is mail it to an address and they get reimbursed the full amount.

Oh well....they lost the sale.

For those of you who haven't bought Kong yet, it looks like Tower just lowered its price a little more. Apparently they're having some sale for the next four days on everything on their site. The new prices are $13.99 / $15.99.

Edited to Add:
Disregard the above. Looks like it was a glitch in their system that they caught.

Jeez... Well, I wrote Tower.com so hopefully they'll give me a $1 credit. I also pre-ordered the Crash DC which is also a dollar cheaper...

King Kong 2-discer still shows up as $16.99 at Tower.com for me. I bought it already, so doesn't much matter, but I thought I'd point that out.

And as to getting a credit from Tower, IIRC, the one time I tried that, I got shot down. I don't think they have price protection like other sites. They said that once it ships, that's it. If it hadn't shipped yet, they'd give you the lower price. Anyway, you can take a shot, and see what happens.

Yeah, hopefully they'll lower the price of the Crash DVD at least... I don't mind the KK one too much as $17 is still the lowest price anywhere so I can't complain too much.

I just got back from our local Wal-Mart and they wouldn't take the coupon! Wanted me to see a manager...

The CIrcuit City in Fenton, MO is offering $5 off KK if you apply for a Circuit City card. Not sure if this applies in other locations.

Looks like the Production Diaries have a new MSRP - $22.98 according to Amazon. Their price is currently $15.99. Tower has it as a pre-order for 17.99 with a release date of 4-04.

Had a similar experience at Wal-Mart... I got my way though. Coupon clearly said "King Kong on DVD"... not "King Kong on DVD, 1 Disc Release only" as they were trying to tell me it had to be. Argument with customer service escalated to a store manager after fifteen minutes of arguing with them, and they tried to say the same thing.. At this point I was pissed, and told the woman "Show me on the ****** coupon where it says this is only for a one disc release! You're trying to force me into buying a less expensive DVD that puts $5 less into Walmart's pocket. Tell me how that makes any ****** sense?" Her only reply what "Just give it to him.. I don't feel like putting up with this today"

I would not have put up a fuss, but I knew they were wrong (Someone I knew already used it on a 2 Disc at another Walmart without issue, not to mention nothing on the coupon stated the contrary), I had ordered Papa Johns instead of some other restaurant soley to get mutliple copies of the coupon, and they JUST used coupon for the person right in front of me, MY FRIEND. After the argument with the customer service person was escalated to a manager, they tried to tell him he was going to "have to return his DVD", which of course led to a collective "go **** yourself" from the both of us!

I just finished making out my weekly grocery list(I'm looking at the Stop & Shop flyer) and the $14.99 price for King Kong is good through Saturday.

Picked up the 2-disc King Kong at Tower along with a $4.99 DVD (The Wind And The Lion) so that I could use the $5 off $20 coupon from the survey posted by Dorsalphin (thanks!). Total for the 2 DVDs was $16.98 + tax.

I guess I'm just going to wait until either the EE comes out, or I find the 2-disk at a really great price.

I'm tired of the 1-disk and 2-disk simultaneous releases.

They dropped the new special edition to $18.96 as well. Get both for under $35 shipped - pretty sweet.

Ohhh you all are going to hate me...

Just got home from a local used shop with my New SE 2 disc King Kong. Price? $8.99. Got the 2 disc HP for the same when it came out. Wonder how much I'll find Narnia for?

Beat that

My first thought too.

I'm co-owner of some book, music and video stores that buy used items from the public. I wouldn't buy a newly released DVD like that for my store unless the seller could supply a receipt.

And as a consumer I'm not at all jealous. I'm not fond of buying stolen goods as a businessperson or as a consumer.
