I picked up the 2-Disc Special Edition with free candy (Raisinetes were all that was left), plus, they had a few of the Production Sketch Journal's that were left from last year, and gave me one of those, for being a Reward Zone member. All for $22.99. Not bad. No Tower's around these parts (Tulsa, Oklahoma).

Anybody lucky enough to find this special "foil slipcover" at Wal-Mart?

The only exclusive among R1 releases is the TARGET exclusive for single and double disk (In pack with a darkhorse Kong comicbook)

May I ask how you managed that? I just checked my Columbia House account, and the Regular Price is $24.95, with another title for 60% off. I am a Preferred Member, so, I should be offered the same deal.

Thanks, Flix1. I checked it out. I did not see any code for a $5.00 Webdvd discount, though.

Yea... I went to the Laguna Beach store and they told me I couldn't use the Papa John's coupon because Kong was on sale. I tried to explain to him that it shouldn't matter, but they wouldn't do it. IMO, they just didn't know how to apply the coupon and they'd rather tell me they can't do it then try to figure it out. So, remembering your post, I headed up to the Tustin store (it's on my way home anyway) and the supervisor had no problem doing it for me. Especially since I told her people I knew (thanks alfredog1976) had used it in the same store earlier today.

You buy KK, then you go to person conducting the survey, take the survey (2 mins) and the person hands you the $10GC right there.

Thanks for confirming what i saw, i didn't pay attention to how long it was but it is a bonus disk packaged with the single disk only. I didn't pay attention to how long it was since i wanted the 2 disk version.

$13.99 & $20.49 at the Wal-Mart I was just at.

Almost considered just getting the 1-disk for that price.

The 1-disc looks so nice.

The 2-disc is an eyesore.

How are the features on the 2-disc? Is it worth it?

I just picked this up at Tower Records along with Thirteen Days, which was on sale for $4.99. If you split the coupon, I paid $14.49 for the 2-disc SE of King Kong and $2.49 for Thirteen Days. A pretty good deal, I think.

I picked up the 2 Disc set at a local FYE store for $24.99. Not a great price but I had a gift card to use toward it. I'm not sure if anybody has commented on this but they are giving away a very nice full size (40" by 27") King Kong poster (same image as on the DVD cover) with purchase (while supplies last). I framed it last night and it looks great! (better than getting a candy bar as with other retailers, in my opinion). Also, the DVD comes with a rebate for $7 which I've already sent it (these things take a while but I haven't had any problems in the past). So the 2 Disc will really cost me $17.99 or so and I got a really nice poster to go with it...not bad.

Production Diaries are $18.38 at BN.com ($16.54 for members). Not sure if that is in store as well.

After the numerous posts about whether there is or is not a bonus disc at Walmart I went there myself. Attached to some of the single disc versions is a bonus book. It is packaged very much like the bonus discs they've offered in the past (side by side) but the packaging is cardboard instead of a dvd case. The front of the packaging has a sticker on the upper right which obscures the word "book" so if you didn't look closely it could appear to be a bonus disc (the back clearly says its a book). Since there hasn't been a single person here who has purchased a bonus disc I'm assuming there isn't one.

Poor Walmart, releasing that "erroneous" info.

Im not suprised, that you are wrong about

since Target was "cool enough" to carry an exclusive "in pack comicbook" offer and Tower "cool enough" providing a $16.99 opening week 2disc Kong sale.

Well I can safely say I went through all the Kong battles scenes several times last night Especially the TREX battle! It's so nice to be able to skip the boring first 40 minutes and get right to the Kong action

Ditto. This "Tower has the lowest price on a new release" thing just feels plain weird. It's been happening more and more, but still...
