MovieExchange noted how the call came down from corporate that the sale was on indefinitely. That's what I was told, as well when I went in today. Sounds like the sale could end any given day, so as someone suggested, best not to dilly around if there's something of interest.
As an aside, how often does everyone hit up their local GS? I think I've been in the one five or six times in the last three weeks and the same guys are always working there. Still worth the oddness of me being in there all the time since I notice a healthy helping of new titles each visit.

I scored tonight at a local gamestop:
Beastie boys criterion 12.99
Fear and Loathing criterion 12.99
Fight club (free)
Seven 9.99
Life Aquatic criterion 2 disc 9.99
friday night lights (free)
SFW 5.00
Fast Sofa 5.00
Bottle Rocket(free)
I kind of struggled with the free ones, but the seven and 3 criterions were pretty good deals imho.
I went to all 3 local gamestops, could have done some box sets if you could combine across stores. I almost did the first 3 seasons of 21 Jump street. Really wanted the wire season 1 and 2 and deadwood. hope this promotion lasts.
One tip, in a lot of instances they put one copy on the shelves and leave the rest in the drawer under the counter. Sometimes they seem to have the crappy older release on the shelf and the newer upgraded release behind the counter. This worked for me with both Fear and Loathing and Seven.

Some stores do not know their asses from a hole in the ground. I went to EB last night and had Mr. & Mrs Smith, Unleashed, and War of the Worlds in my hand, and the employee swore that B2G1F was over. When I went to the Gamestop across the street and asked if the sale was still running, the guy in charge said that as far as he knew, it ended on the Sunday after Thanksgiving.

Nice little haul tonight at two GS. First one had a ton of modern Disney flicks (i.e. Tarzan and Mulan), but I passed. Opted to go cheap and pick up the Donnie Darko SE that thanks to GS's pricing policy was carrying the price tag of the original release ($8.99).
The second GS had Cinderella PE (mint w/ slipcover), Fun and Fancy Free (Disney flick), Boogie Nights SE ($9.99), and Space Jam SE ($9.99). I also grabbed a $8.99 and $7.99 title, but the guy was cool and let me get one of the $9.99 titles as one of the free ones.

Got a few newer things tonight (War of the Worlds, Land of the Dead, Madagascar, etc). The best hauls were the 4-disc Gone With the Wind for $9.99 and the Jay & Silent Bob do Degrassi for $5.99. Had to argue with the employees on how they were going to ring things up and give me the 3 cheapest of my 9 DVD's for free.
Some EB games claim that the deal isn't running anymore, so YMMV.

How do you have new releases already available used? Do people just steal DVDs and trade them in near you?

I know the stores will deny knowing that the items were stolen, but come on... when someone brings in 5 copies each of 4 movies, and they're all still factory sealed, what more proof do you need?

I went into a GS on Friday and ended up getting a pretty good deal, considering the stores around here are pretty consistantly cleaned out:
-Batman Anthology (Marked as the serials, and since they took it in that way, they had to sell it to me that way at $14.99)
-Playmakers complete series
-Hitchhiker's Guide Widescreen
All for $30 after my little club discount.

-Playmakers complete series
-Hitchhiker's Guide Widescreen
All for $30 after my little club discount.

Some GS definitely take in "acquired" goods. When I went in on Friday and got the new Seinfeld sets, I was talking with the clerk about it. Since he and I were the only ones in the store, he was more open about it and suggested that it wasn't unlikely that some of the stuff they bought were "off-the-truck discounts." I don't endorse it, but it's still not going to stop me from buying titles of interest that could have possibly been acquired through ill-means.

Happens all the time at gamestops around here, usually its the big name single disk titles and not box sets. Usually its not as good of deal then, 14.99 isn't that much of a discount on the first week prices, but with the buy two get one free deal it can be nice.
The nicest thing was when i was in college i had a used cd/dvd store down the block, and it was a guarentee that any new release boxset would be there that tuesday. I remembered getting Tru Calling season 1 the day it came out for $17 bucks. I love these stores that don't really know the value of certain movies.

Sale was off yesterday at the location I went to. I did score a used copy of Star Trek Insurrection: Special Collector's edition for $8, the same price as the earlier regular edition. This rounds out my ST film collection.

Just so everyone knows, it never hurts to at least ask the clerks working there when the next sale will be. Obviously it helps if they seem intelligent to begin with, but at the one I've been frequenting over the last month, they knew when the next one would be starting up before the previous one was even over.

Among my purchases today (all $14.99, B2G1F): Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Madagascar, March of the Penguins, Charlie & The Chocolate Factory, War of the Worlds, Land of the Dead, House of Wax, Cinderella Man and Dukes of Hazzard. Bought multiples of several for people that I know are looking for them (went to 2 GS and 2 EB stores) - including 6 copies of Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Hell, they'll give me the $14 I spent on them, making the stuff I keep that much cheaper.
I hope one of my local EB's is closed after the merger. While I was looking at DVD's I heard someone getting told that the movie they wanted couldn't be found. When I was in line, someone was told that the game he wanted couldn't be found. When I got up there, they couldn't find the discs for Aqua Teen Hunger Force vol 2. This happens constantly at this location, they can never find discs.
