Okay all - I've not lost my faith in you yet. This experience has brought to mind a question: when not getting hosed by unscrupulous companies, where do you do your dvd trade-ins? (I realize it's a bit OT, but then again, it's painfully obvious the deal - at least on spun - is dead, so....). Any thoughts?

Secondspin.com is pretty good but they don't offer much in the way of trade-ins.

I've had good luck with secondspin. The wherehouse sale prompted me to sell off a lot of junk dvds I had laying around. I compared prices from the two websites and secondspin offered me a lot more. The spun deal was only good because of the free shipping promo. And that's no longer an option, of course.

Now here's a question, couldn't you go to a wherehouse store location, trade in your stuff, and use the trade online in the form of a gift card? That whould allow you to use the coupon and not worry about shipping. Anyone know?

FWIW, secondspin.com is also owned by TWEC.

True -- but you can save a $1.33 if you wait for an unmentionable sale, provided the price does not go up.

And there are other good deals on CD's and DVD's as well, depending upon your tastes and price will to pay (e.g. Trek Deep Space and Next Gen season sets ranging from $75-$81, if you want to pay that much for these, I am not at this time, still better than the over $100 most are charging).

I got the email about the coupon and my order. Even if it was only supposed to be for Wherehouse, they should have at least honored the ones who used it at spun and then cut it off, but no they had to be crabs about it.

I still plan on shopping/trading with Spun. I have forked over a lot of garbage to them for some cool stuff over the years with no real problems.

Don't forget the pre-orders which DDD's sale doesn't do.

I ordered from Wherehouse, and BOTH my orders were canceled! The first was a bunch of trade ins that already sent to them because of their directions on the site and in the email they sent confirming my order! I did not even use the coupon for this and they canceled it!
The other order was one DVD set that I used the coupon on. They can say it was not in stock, but I got on the next day and they still had some left! I am P'd off right now!!!

I am awaiting their response!

When I look at my first order, It says Canceled, but then when I click on it, each trade-in has an In-Progress by it... Does that mean it is going through? I looked, and I applied the coupon thinking I was going to buy somthing right then and decided not to. However, it still says the coupon was applied... So what did they do? Just go through and cancell all the coupon orders?

Agreed. Or at least they could have said they made a mistake in setting up the promotion instead of blaming customers for using a promotion code that worked on their site.

All New and Used items that we sell on Spun.com are in-stock and available
for sale at the time you placed your order. Unfortunately between the time
your order was processed and when it was sent to the warehouse to be
packaged for shipment the item(s) below became out of stock. After repeated
unsuccesful attempts to secure the product for you at this point we have
cancelled the item(s) from your order

Product: Alfred Hitchcock: The Masterpiece Collection
Reason: Cancelled by consumer

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have cause you.

I got charged sales tax when I ordered from SecondSpin, which is also owned by TWEC. I emailed them and asked them what was up, and they said that as long as a TWEC company has a storefront in my state, they have to charge sales tax. TWEC owns FYE and a shitload of other stores, so that pretty much covers every state.

The other 3 Disney tins were cancelled as well, but didn't feel the need to quote that. Anyways, they say they've cancelled it in the paragraph, and then it says I cancelled it in the itemized list. But the thing that irks me is that they say it's out of stock and they've tried numerous times to get it.

It's a fucking pre-order! Of course you're not going to be able to get it in stock now! I won't be dealing with wherehouse or spun any time in the future. I have had some good success with SecondSpin in the past (same parent company), and will continue to use them if a good deal turns up.

I've had nothing but good experiences with coconuts. Just because spun screwed alot of people over on this deal doesn't mean that the other companies automatically are bad.

Btw if someone are going to order anything from secondspin.com then I found a free shipping code. It might be expired, but you have to try to find out - ssfsc24

The flyer I got said the coupon expired 9/30, but in store they had pads of paper with the coupon code and I think it said 10/13.

No, it doesn't, but that's like boycotting Pepsi and drinking Sierra Mist. They don't care, it's all money.

I just got ANOTHER charge posted to my account for a cancelled order. This is the third time it's happened. I'm on my way to the bank to file a fraud report.

BE CAUTIOUS OF SPUN.COM!!!

This is for anyone who has gotten the message from wherehouse.com, asking you to confirm your credit card information. Has anybody had their order cancelled due to not responding? If the coupon expires on 10/13, I'm thinking of selling a bunch of stuff and using the credit to re-order all of my preorders.

I was so fed up with all this,I called the Wherehouse store about an hour away from me and talked to the girl there. Here's the good part, ANY STORE owned by the company including FYE, Coconuts, etc can give you trade credit that works on the wherehouse or Spun sites. Sooooo, you don't have to send anything off at all to trade. I simply went down to my FYE with all my trade-in stuff, I got $100 MORE than I would have gotten on Wherehouse.com (about $180 more than on Spun) in trade! They even took stuff Wherehouse didn't have listed as buying. I then asked for a gift card I could use online and in the store. I went home and re-ordered everything I was getting from Spun. The money I saved from not shipping my stuff to wherehouse.com paid for the shipping on the dvds, and I got more dvds in the deal.

There are still some great deals to be had at Wherehouse.com. Kudos to Linn1 for that trade in tip. Perhaps some of you will have some decent success as well. Was browsing the used section this morning and founds some good titles. It sure beats burning gas and time combing those used racks at gamestop.

I really wish they could have released this at a different time, not right after I just spent money.
