They cancelled my Survivor All-Stars set at Wherehouse.com. That's what I wanted the most

To quote from the master philosophers (otherwise known as Bill & Ted),

"THIS IS MOST HEINOUS!!!"

My entire order, trades and all, was cancelled as well. Time to muster the troops.

My spun order is showing up as "in progress". But... my trade-ins have all been cancelled! The items I was buying still show the 33% discount, so I guess I need to decide if I still want them if I'm not going to get the trade-in credit I was expecting. Didn't see any option to cancel them either, so I may get stuck receiving them... and of course, no customer service phone number on their website. Arghhh. This was my first -- and most likely last -- time ordering from Spun.

I just emailed their VP John Sullivan and left him a voicemail re this too. We'll see if he responds. I handled it as purely a good will v bad will issue and advised him to see what his company hath wrought by looking at this talk string for himself.

866-362-2835 was the number that was on my credit card transactions for Spun.com.
It is a voicemail I guess.
Might be helpful to some of you who want to voice your disgust.

I got bored and stumbled across this: http://www.hippodirect.com/allLists.asp It has spun.com listed, and the president HippoDirect.com, who could probably find you the name you are looking for.

*edit*

I posted this before I read the last page or two.

Once again, thank you for your order. I hope you enjoy your product!

Just for laughs I tried ordering some of the same titles at wherehouse.com that were cancelled on my order at Spun.com.

Not only were the items much more expensive, they added state sales tax, even though my state does not actually have any wherehouse retail locations!

So even after the discount, I could still order the same titles for less at sites like deepdiscount & dvdpacific.

It also seems strange that some of the orders at Spun seem to be going through, or are partially going through.

What a joke.

I knew this was too good to be true. I loved the idea of getting 33% off on preorders and being able to trade some of my old dvd's and cd's towards the purchase. I'm tempted to give wherehouse a try but even if i traded my dvd's in today, i highly doubt that i would get the credit in time to use it with the coupon.

Oh well theres always DDD but i just wish that they would accept trade in's or do the 20% off preorders as well.

Friends: 1-10 cancelled from spun.com

And for some reason I have a ton of pending authorization charges on my credit card from them as well, even though that was the only title I ordered. Happen to anyone else?

I have the same problem with a few pending authorization charges on my credit card. I only ordered once! I sent over an email to them about this problem. I have not heard from them yet. I've ordered from spun.com many times in the past, and this is the first time I've ever had a problems with them. They just screwed the pooch!

It's happening to me as well. I sent an email to them regarding the matter on early Friday, and have yet to receive a response. I've contacted my bank and they told me to be cautious about further purchases with the company, as this is NOT something that's typical with online shopping. I'd contact your bank or credit card company A.S.A.P. and tell them to keep an eye on account.

Today's Lesson Learned: "Avoid purchases with www.spun.com"

Ha! Well they shipped all the used stuff I bought today even though I told them to ship everything together (Dec 6 was the last pre-order). They didn't appear to charge me any extra either (well, not yet anyways).

Hello,

Unfortunately it looks like our authorization system went a bit haywire.
We apologize for this error.

Rest assured, this is NOT a charge -- it is what the banks call an
"authorization." In order to verify that credit card information is
valid, Spun asks the bank electronically. To perform the check, some
banks place a "hold" on a small amount of funds, often one dollar,
sometimes the whole amount. This allows their system to verify that an
account is active. Every bank handles this differently -- but the funds
remain in your account.

Please contact us again if we can be of any further assistance.

Thanks!

They replied to me about my cancelled order:

We are sorry to inform you that, as it states on the promotional materials that contain that code, it is ONLY valid on http://www.wherehouse.com. It is NOT valid on Spun.com.

If you are still interested in purchasing these products at a discount, please visit http://www.wherehouse.com and re-place your orders using the promotional code:

Isc409of

This code is only valid for a limited time, and only on Wherehouse.com, so please place your order before the offer expires.

To avoid unexpected charges to you, your Spun.com order referenced above has been cancelled. We appreciate your patronage and look forward to serving you in the future.
Needless to say, but I wrote a nasty email back to them.

You recently placed an order on Spun.com and attempted to use a coupon code.
Interesting word choice they use there.

You didn't "attempt" to use a coupon code. You used it, and it worked. If it were not valid on Spun, then it wouldn't have been accepted when ordering on their site.

For them to make it look as though they have nothing to do with this and it's all the customers fault is pathetic.

If they made a mistake, the least they could do is own up to it. This only makes them look worse.

After receiving their response, I guess I can understand their point of view. The code was only to be used at wherehouse.com. It wasn't until someone mentioned it could be used at spun.com as well was when we all started ordering from them. It was never said the coupon was able to be used at spun.com. I ended up placing the same order at wherehouse.com and it still came out cheaper than the DDD 20 percent off discount.

This is just another bit of proof that proves just how unprofessional this company is. First and foremost, it's taken them 4 days to realize this problem! This is just ridiculous. Secondly, they've failed to notify their customers about the ordeal. How hard is it to send an email notice out to those affected? Needless to say, I'll stay far away from making purchases on this site again. Hopefully it won't be hell for them to refund my money.

I thought this deal was too good to be true so I held out and now I am glad I did. Just wondering though: All orders using the code at wherehouse have worked? No cancelled orders even on preorders?

I only had one item out of an order of 12 items cancelled on wherehouse (I guess it was out of stock at the time, though it is instock now)..I had some pre-orders too and they haven't been cancelled..

Longtime users of this website well know that these deals are strictly YMMV. Some retailer makes a mistake and we try to capitalize on it- then they either cancel them or they don't. While I agree that they could have handled it better, the deal was for Wherehouse and not Spun.com.

I myself would have placed my order with Spun had someone pointed out the no-tax thing sooner, but I didn't, and in the end it apparently worked out for me. They even shipped my in stock items seperately, something they didn't have to do (and didn't pay for).

There are still good deals to be had at Wherehouse even with Tax and shipping charges. The SG-1 Season 8 box for example is the lowest price on the net.
