Thank you for saving my energy. Sigh...Long Island never gets the best bargains (except for that Eckerd 75% off a few months ago)

No go near San Francisco- The Serramonte store has the correct prices. The Colma store scans plenty of DVDs at $6 but the cashiers won't sell them at that price. The San Bruno store doesn't have any of the $6 titles on the shelves.

Visited both the Waterloo and Iowa City IA targets of course nothing is ever on sale in Iowa. Anyone willing to part with one tree hill or any gilmore girls? Help me make the girlfriend happy let me know what anyone would be willing to sell for.

Nothing at the store in Orem, Utah. I scanned several and they all rang up at full price. I may try the one in American Fork, though I don't expect to find anything.

I usually don't get this lucky, but on a whim I checked 2 stores near Falls Church anyway. The first one had everything full price, but the Skyline Mall location (which is only 2 miles from the first) had everything on sale. As I was picking thru the sets, someone from security walked over and actually took BoB from my pile. He said that someone else had just bought this at 5.99 and that was obviously wrong. Another Target employeee came over and sort of distracted him, and I was able to take the BoB from him and leisurely limped (I think I did something to my ACL the other day, but I digress....) to the front of the store.

The cashier and the customer behind me were both commenting on the great prices, drawing way too much attention to me as I was sure that somehow I would not make it out of the store.

I get thru the transaction and pay, but as I walk thru the exit, the security scanners beep at me of course, the cashier had not deactivated the DVDs. As I turn around, I see a different security guard literally sprinting at me. He is out of breath when he gets to me. He does not at all think that I have slipped something in my pocket, but apparently the store management/security have just in the last 3 minutes figured this deal out, and the want to stop me. He takes my receipt and keeps muttering that this is obviously wrong, that these titles are 49.99 to 89.99 each, etc The original security guard comes over, and they both look through my 3 bags and my receipt as they whisper into their radios. Even though I have already paid for the 19 or so box sets, I'm sure that I will have to return them. I'm prepared to put up a fight, but just keep my calm and say nothing. Finally, the original guard says something like, 'We've confirmed a corporate screw up, but its too late, I guess you got the deal of the day."

As I limped to my car, I seriously considering putting them in my trunk and coming back for more (I really want Macgyver, Monk 2, GG 2-3, FF, and a few others), but I thought better of it and left.

From from this thread, it looks like this Skyline Mall location and a Rockville Target were the only DC area stores with the deals.

Fender. Which stores have you tried? I tried Bowie and Pasadena with no luck.

Midland, MI was a no go this morning at about 8:30 AM. Thanks for posting, though, to the OP.

Wow this is insane.....Has anyone checked stores in Orange County,CAlifornia.

5.99 in Simpsonville, SC. Friends, Sex & the City and BoB were already bought out completely.
We were able to get Little House (3 differnet seasons), Joan of Arcadia, Batman, Looney Tunes 1 & 2, Fantastic Four, Jaws and Pochantas.
None left at this location.

I went to four Target stores in or near Los Angeles, CA ...and very little luck.

Pasadena, CA removed all the WB titles and more
No go at Burbank, CA nor the Eagle Rock (near Glendale) store.

I stopped by the Target in Allen, TX earlier tonight (8/9) at around 7:30 P.M. and bought Point Break and the Jaws Anniversary Edition for $5.99 apiece. I scanned the Friends and Batman: TAS sets and a bunch of other ones (forgot which, but I checked a lot of them) and they all rang up regular price. However, I did check the price for the newly released The Man in the Gray Flannel Suit and it came up as $5.99 even though it was listed as $9.99.

I may stop by again tomorrow, and I'll also check out the Target in Plano. I don't have any high hopes that these "sales" will still be in effect, but if some people in here are willing to check their local Targets tomorrow, I'd really appreciate it.

do you guys think once the dvds are restocked tonight the ones that were cleared out today for 5.99 will still be 5.99 early tomorrow morning 1st thing when the store opens? or do you think they will fix the problem by then?

This has got to be one of the best finds this year. I will certainly pick up something for you as thank you if I can. Mission Viejo is too far with my limited time

MBradley how did you even find out about this? Did you just go into target and decide to do a price check on some of the tv shows and got extremely lucky?

Yeah it looks like the Orange County Targets are cleared out. I went all over the OC today looking and was only lucky with one in Fullerton, and even they didn't have a whole lot left. But I went back there tonight to see if there was anything either restocked or something that I missed and everything was back to regular prices, so it's possible that it's all over. But if not, i'd gladly pay the 5.99 plus any shipping costs for Gilmore Girls Seasons 2 and 3, Friends Season 9 or One Tree Hill (the target I was at was already outta these)

Two Target stores in my area. Went to one at lunch...everything at full price.
Tried the other on my way home from work...SCORE! Picked up about 7 sets. Cashier (high school aged girl) made comment about them being a good price, that they're usually like $20-30. I just said, "yeah."

Went back a couple hours later with the wife and baby and picked up 12 more sets. I had picked up a couple that I didn't see on the list, hoping they would be on sale also, and went to further scanner, to not appear so obvious. I ended up on the other side of the store (several scanners not working) and went back to return the full priced set and heard a couple of the workers talking and pulling the discounted sets. So I didn't get a chance to grab a few more sets. Went to checkout after finishing shopping for other stuff and checked out. Ended up with the same gal as earlier, but she didn't recognize me. She started to ring me up and saw the DVD sets and set her lane light to flashing. I was getting nervous. But she said it was a price mistake, but they had to sell them to me at that price, but there were keeping a list of the discounted sets so they could pull them (if that was okay with me...I said that was fine, since they were letting me get my sets without any hassel). A supervisor came over and they called the electronics person and relayed the discounted sets so he could pull them. She also told him to check every box set for the mistaken price. They told me I got a great deal and to have a nice day. A very pleasant experience.

I did notice that one of the Macgyver sets actually did have a $5.99 price sticker under it. None of the others did.

Scanned a few of the titles mentioned in this thread at the Albany, OR Target, but they all rang up at regular price :( However I did get $50 off a king size mattress at Costco :)

Went in early at about 10:00am expecting to get Jaws for 5.99 then noticed several 5.99 tags on dvd sets.... namely Band of Brothers, The O.C., upon further inspection I saw many 5.99's. Twenty minutes later, I walked out of the store w/250$ worth of $6.00 dvd sets. Not bad for just looking for Jaws 30th anniversary.

For the people that checked around Orange County, did you check Seal Beach and Long Beach Targets?

It's the curse of Long Island. I grew up there.. family all still living in Cutchogue. I moved out to central Kentucky and it is the same here.. no deals, except the rare one once in awhile. I checked both Targets in Lexington and of course there's not a single DVD with the pricing 'error'. I guess they hire retail professionals to keep a tight control of everything on Long Island and KY. A guy at Slickdeals said no love in Louisville KY Target stores either, so it isn't just an east end LI thing.

This sale is extremely YMMV. Some stores have none on sale, some have a few, some have them all. Some have corrected prices, some are just pulling them off the shelves.

My store on the other hand, seems to be completely clueless. I saw at least six red shirts wandering past me going about their normal tasks.

yeldarb367 gets some credit for finding the Jaws 30th for 5.99 a few days ago. so i will co nominate them for poster of the year.
