So what's the deal with this? I tried to use it to buy the 'That's Entertainment' trilogy and it said I didn't 'meet the requirements'. I also tried using my Discover Card and no discount was applied. This is why I stopped buying from these guys. That and the fact that they usually don't offer any discount on dvd's more than 10%.

I thought it would only last a few hours, so I tried to place my order right away. Fortunately the code got buried in a generic B&N thread at FW so it didn't quite take off like it might have.

If B&N uses sequential order numbering, I'm not surprised they ended this deal.
My order was placed on October 26 2004 1:15PM ET and ended in 175582.
My girlfriend's order was placed on October 27 2004 2:20PM ET and ended in 215545.
That equates to 40,000 orders placed in a 24 hour period. If each one used the $10 coupon (unlikely) that's a $400,000 hit.

But the other thing (and don't discount this, no pun intended heh) is their selection: If there was an older book that you were having trouble locating (and certainly this is true for DVDs, as well) B&N will often be able to get it for you. True, their prices are not the greatest, but their selection is outstanding — and unlike Amazon, I would be willing to bet that those of us who used this code to place our order will see those orders honored. This is an extremely reputable bookseller, and if you got in on this deal before the lock, you just grabbed one of the hottest deals this year.
My GONE WITH THE WIND SE went through at 11:30 a.m. EST and I received the second email from B&N — effectively locking in their committment to honor the price — stating that it is "scheduled to ship" on November 9, the date that GWTW is being released.
Again, thank you to Sweet Baby James for sharing with us that the price had dropped on this little beauty. You're a Sweetie Pie in my book!

Someone on another board is stating that he/she received an email notifying that the order was canceled. However, the person did not state whether a 2nd email was received on the canceled orders.

I have been informed that this coupon code was intended only for B&N employee use. Hence the name "BKSELLR" or Bookseller. Supposedly, the coupon would work if you are a BN employee and supply a store number and bookseller ID. This is what I was told over the phone.
Would have been nice to know this before hand. Definitely would have jumped on it sooner.... or avoided it, seeing as that I am not an employee (wink, wink).
Another smack to the thick skull of one who habitually hesitates. Congrats to those who got in.

Miss Peach: Thank you very much for bringing this to us. I was able to get 4 separate orders in last night and 2 have already shipped!
It will be interesting to see if they honor preorders... Especially, if they find out that they are all shipped to the same address and the same check card was used!
