Hey whotony,

All the online sites have Cheers and Frasier coming out Sept. 13. Is Blockbuster getting them early?

Thanks

Has anyone checked on the $ for the 11-15-2005 releases of Cheers & Frasier sets? Just curious.

Anyways, broke down & placed my order for them using up my VC from the $8 trade-ins I did a (long)while back. Figured it wasn't going to get used otherwise.

During the order process, I thought the "jig" might be up. The clerks (one showing another how to do an order) had to get the manager on dutys' assistance. She apparently backed-out too far & had to search for the title again. Even tho' I had the #, she was wanting to search by title. When she did find them, she didn't even flinch @ the $$ for each of them that was showing on the screen. Well, I'll see if I get them next week.

supposedly the frasier set is no longer going to be released next week like the Cheers set is. I think Nov is the new release date for Frasier.

There is another Cheers/Frazier release in Nov - both with one more season each.

9-13-2005
Cheers: Seasons 1-6
Frasier: Seasons 1-6 & Final

11-15-2005
Cheers: Seasons 1-7
Frasier: Seasons 1-7 & Final

cheers 6 season set. 136365
frasier 7 season 136685
and the BBV employee called me to tell me that the Cheers set is coming in next Tues but the Frasier set will no be until Nov.

Well no dice for me. The sales person told me there was a porblem that I only paid $26.99 a piece and they were much more and they would take a huge loss. I said when I paid I was told I had paid in full and she said yes, that was the price in the computer but if you want them you have to pay $100 more a piece or take a refund. If I was going on more than an hour sleep in the last two days I would have showed my ass. Needless to say, I took the refund. It just pisses me off that she said $100 more a piece. Tht astill wouldn't be right. The more I think about it, the more it pisses me off but I am out nothing so I can't bitch too much. Now, time for me to pass out lol. Godd luck to the rest of you!

Umm...does anyone ever update the first thread? it'd be nice to know what's going on NOW...as opposed to the $8 trade in from a year ago.

I went in yesterday to pick it up and they were about to hand me the Cheers Season six season by itself. I told him that the receipt says "six season pack" meaning all six seasons. He says that the receipt did not have enough room to print the rest of it which says "Cheers six season pack season six". BS.

He says the Frasier 7 season pack is not due out until Novemeber and I can either get a refund for both or just for Cheers. I asked him to look up if the Frasier set is for the entire season set and he said yes, that one is for the entire set but its not due out until November.

I didn't bother arguing anymore and got my money back and left.

I went in today and got mine with no problems at all, both Cheers and Frasier. In fact, the employee commented on what a good deal it was and even mentioned that the price was still at 26.99 in their computer for both sets.

You know, the BBV I go to realizes that while it may be a mistake, it's not one on their end, in store, so I guess they just roll with it. If that's what the computer says it is, and their supplier is willing to let them have it at that, then where's the problem?

If you're the person she spoke to, I'm sure that call will clear things up.

Well, after weeks of waiting and hoping, I got a call from BlockBuster (ans. mach. msg) stating that they are no longer doing "special orders" and that all existing "special orders" are being cancelled. They want to give me my $$$ back. I went into the store, and told them that this wasn't a "special" order, it was a pre-order, for which I paid in advance. They said that no, it was a special order. I asked whether they were going to be taking "special" orders for SW:Ep3 in advance of the release date. They said yes, but that's different.

This is a bit of a repost, but I thought it important to bring it up here as well....

As I posted in this thread http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=440100 , Blockbuster is no longer accepting pre orders.

I stopped by their this weekend to check on some prices on some Paramount stuff coming out and I was told they were no longer taking special orders. I guess it has to do with BBV corporate having to pay cash up front for their movies now, so they can't get anything from Ingram on credit anymore, thus eliminating all special orders. I was told that they were issuing credits and refunds for people who already had pre orders on file.
Sorry, I see somebody else already posted this! I didn't see that when I searched this thread. It was news to me!

And to reply to the previous post, you do realize why it's different for Star Wars Episode Three, right? The stores WILL get in copies of that. Putting money down on that or taking a preorder for something they will get in is no problem. Now, if they knew they wouldn't get in any copies of Episode III, we wouldn't be allowed to pre order it either.

The way it was explained to me is I can either accept a refund or leave it on special order and wait to see if my sets come in eventually. I chose to wait for now. I suspect that BBV corporate will be dead by the end of the year, and they will be bought out, and hopefully they will get somebody else other than Ingram, maybe Baker and Taylor, who will allow them to do special orders and I can get my sets eventually.

I just hope the stores don't close down over night one day and I am just out that money!

i've seen that elsewere and it's interesting because our district leader was in the store last week saying we should start taking preorders just for this reason.

it will guarantee a sale and will bring in money because we have to take a deposit for each order.

But are they asking you to take preorders on ANYTHING or just the titles they are guaranteed to get in? It's one thing to accept a pre order for Batman Begins, but it's another thing entirely to pre order a customer Mr. Peepers Season One when it is likely Blockbuster will never ship copies of that to their stores.

My understanding from my visit that it wasn't so much pre orders as a whole they were stopping, just special orders and pre orders of things they normally wouldn't get.
