I just read through all of the posts and someone mentioned Pre-viewed dvds they traded in. Does Blockbuster accept their own pre-viewed dvds that I bought from them? I wouldn't think so because don't they pull them and sell them as previewed because they have too many?

Thanks

I talked to managers at two different stores last night, and they both said they will accept any DVD woth coverart and a UPC that is not badly damaged.

I mentioned it, maybe someone else did to, but yes they do accept their PVD's and Hollywood Videos as well! I have traded both to them. No probs.

Although everytime I see them ring up one from Hollywood video they have to type something in the computer (maybe Hollywood Video does something to UPC's (not sure) but BBV will type in the title and go to the next dvd.

I guess the old saying "The South Will Rise Again" is true.

I called 4 blockbusters and none are having it. One guy said he thought it was select stores only.

Those who are calling, how are you asking about the offer? I like to keep it simple on the phone

I don't doubt they will take DVDs we would consider bargain bin titles (since many of them are still regularly-priced at other stores), but I still do not believe they can afford to take in the $1 Walmart titles.
I see that you are in Chicago, and I was wondering what store you checked with. I have a bunch of stuff I'm looking to get rid of. Now it's just a matter of finding stuff that they sell for any sort of reasonable price.

For some reason, I beleive Hollywood does not have UPC on some of there DVDs they sell. Therefore, they would need to look them up.

Probably varies....

This deal probably just varies from store to store. I have 3 blockbusters in my city and one of them is taking DVD's for $5 right now and the other two don't.

This is the case for snappers, HWV will have a special keepcase edition instead of the snapper and it will usually lack a UPC. Also, HWV seems to often get titles with a UPC that is a slight variation from the "mainstream" edition, I bet that it signifies that it came without an insert and usually in their new special rental boxes instead of standard release cases.

I am also in the Chicagoland area, Naperville, and I clearly asked you know if they will be paying $8 and they said yes. Also, without asking the guy said "This does not include those $1 DVD's at places like Wal-Mart though". He said they had tried themselves becasue they wanted to know. Ithink this guy has probably been asked this plenty of times and more importantly saving himself time starting Tuesday of people bringing titles that do not count. To the guy that said he hopes to find some titles worth buying. Think of it this way, I am only taking titles that I know I would not get say more than $4 or so on Ebay(these being some scratched-up titles that still play and previewed ones that I can't get much for). This way whatever you get there is basically half-price. Most of the newer titles are between $20-22.
So getting them for $10-11 is not that bad if you look at it this way IMO.

I've had luck trading in PVD's with printed covers. The Upcs wouldnt work, so they just typed in the name of the movie. As long as it has the original dvd they said they'll take it. Others have said some locations take just the discs, haven't tried that though.

Where in South Florida are you? I called a store in Tampa [Florida and Bearss] that might be running this promotion. The clerk said they had a new promotion starting Wednesday, but he wasn't clear on any specifics of the trade-in deal.

I am located in Delary Beach (Palm Beach County) but also looking for any stores in Broward that are having this deal.

Have you contacted any stores in the West Palm Beach area?

I have tried a few in Boca, Boynton Beach, Delary Beach, and Deerfield Beach, about to give up. I will try Lake Worth and West Palm Next. Do you know of any in West Palm taking them Simmer35?

Well, the other day when I went to the local BBV that I have traded with before the girl told me that it would start Sunday. Well I called tonight just to make sure and a different girl was like "I have no idea what you are talking about." Gave her a big CLICK!

Called a couple of other stores around me and, yes, it is confirmed to start Tuesday.

Just a quick update. I called a few more stores and finally got a store that had a district manager in it. She was aware of the promotion but said no stores in South Florida are doing it, maybe buy the first of the year. She said we are one of the last areas in the US to get it.

Sucks... and stupid considering that West Palm-Ft. Lauderdale-Miami area is such a big market. I guess they need to try it out first in the smaller areas first? I thought that usually the bigger areas get things first. Oh well... I'll still call a couple of stores in West Palm. Probably the ones near zip code 33411 that I know are corporate stores.

Neither of the Blockbuster's in my town have it, but I called up the store nearest in KC and the guy said they were starting it up on Tuesday. Hope the guy was right, because I'm carrying a heap o'disks for a thirty minute drive sometime next week. I'd hate to have to kill him. He seemed like a nice young man.
