Nice. i almost went last night with a sack full of oldie-moldies.
Does anyone know when the $15 all-you-can-rent in a month deal expires? I want to use some of the store credit on that deal.
Thanks

I was just thinking.....you could go to Movie Gallery and buy 4 $14.99 movies with the buy 2 get 2 sale for around $32 with tax. And if they all suck you take them to Blockbuster and basically you just got yourself 4 free rentals. Or if you like a few you keep them and you still end up with the DVDs you really wanted for a good price.

I've been looking to get rid of a few titles, and this sounds like a great way to do it. I've got 5-10 titles I want to get rid of, maybe more if I take into account discs I could upgrade now or in the near future. Thanks for the post.
If anyone knows of particularly good things to use the store credit on, let me know.

focker,
here is what I have picked up (you probably already have them) just letting you know.
Family Guy Volume 1
Family Guy Volume 2
Clerks X
a slew of PVD's
a few rentals
The Family Guys were both $39.99 (lowest on the net is around $32). Not the best price, but hey when you get rid of crap dvds you are getting a deal.
Clerks X was $24.99. BB had it for $19.99 the first week, but I went ahead and got it from BBV with a few crap trade-ins.
If you want to buy PVD's with your credit wait till they have another $3 for 25 sale or some other sale.
Haven't traded in about two weeks, but when the $8 comes, I am there.

I have at least 15 titles on their way out the door. Too bad there isn't anything good PVed out lately, I'll have to wait till later in the year when the "Oscar contenders" start coming to video.

Thanks for the update. I will definately go to BBV on Oct. 3 to sell my dvds. In the past my BBV has given me the option to receive store credit on a gift card or on my account. I always take the credit on a gift card so I can use it any BBV location.

The $14.99 intro deal is through the end of the year -- if by some odd chance they were to put the money onto your account, don't fret--just buy giftcards with your credit: voila. A good idea might be to trade in what you have and wait a few months until the ones that are coming out next week hit PVD (i.e. Eternal Sunshine, etc.) I know I'll personally be waiting for those.

I asked a couple weeks ago at my BlockBuster about this promotion. The guy told me the trade amount would be based on the movies popularity, stock, MSRP, etc. It seemed he knew what he was talking about, he even said the memo he got told them to start around the 2nd of Oct.

I believe the best and fastest way is to call all of your local BBV and ask if they are participating in the trade in program.
I did and it took me no more than five minutes to find out that the one closest to me doesn't do it while one that is about 15 minutes away does.

It will be very interesting to see if they take the $1 Walmart DVDs. I would probably settle for making a $2 profit by trading in all the stuff you can get out of the $5.50 bin (Wall Street, Trading Places, etc)

I have never gotten rid of ANY DVD I bought. And yes, I have a huge collection. I bought SOOOO many SE versions, and still have the original releases. With this deal, I will probably get rid of at least 100 DVD's... I can't imagine what I will do with $800 in store credit. I'm drooling just thinking about it!!!

If it was me, I'd give him a thumbs up and let him know any good deals we had on shit in the store, but then again, that's just me

Do you work there? I'll come to your store!
I will probably break it up into at least 3 trips and go to different BBV. I don't want to overload one store and piss them off. I have TONS of locations to choose from, so I shouldn't have any problems, even if only 50% of the locations participate. I got the date marked on my calendar already! I'm looking forward to the trade-in deal, but I'm not looking forward to going through all of my DVD's. That is gonna be a LOOOONG process. Good time to start entering them into an online database! I've been doing it all by memory. Wonder how many dupes I have that weren't upgrades?
I don't think I wanna know...

Any chance BBV is selling brand new copies of the Star Wars DVD set? I'm hoping since it's such a high-demand product that they'll have this on the shelves alongside all of their pre-viewed ones.
