For some reason the Assassin Nation Plot storyline was one of my favorite Spidey storylines. I just picked up 3 of the issues during FCBD as I got rid of them years ago.

I have this at home. It is pretty good looking in person and also pretty inexpensive compared to a lot of statues like this.

Re: Comic Book Cover Of The Day
It has been so long since I read the comic that I looked up Hulk 417 on Marvel Fandom database to catch up on the story in this issue. The run-down of the story made me smile and also realize how great a writer Peter David is and how much he was able to fit into this issue. You have Hulk dealing with some heavy stuff in therapy, and the complete opposite, when the heroes settle in to watch a stag (porno) film and the woman in the film is his bride to be, that is great and very funny.
Another reminder that there was a reason why Peter David remained the writer of the Hulk series for so many years.

Marvel Fanfare omnibus comes out tomorrow.
I always loved that cover of the first issue. I can still remember seeing it for the first time in a grocery store on the magazine rack and wanting to buy it so bad. I sat there and read it but still wanted to buy it. But it was $1.25 in 1982! That is the equivalent of $4.15 for an issue today. Regular issues were 60 cents so that is equivalent to $1.99 today. So, I could score two issues instead of this, so I went with the two issues. Choices were tough as a kid with limited means! Mowing one yard could get me between 2 and 5 bucks depending on the size so it was tough to part with that much for one issue, especially with Ms. Pack-Man, Galaga and Gyruss calling my name. No matter how cool the cover looked!

I always felt Marvel Fanfare were basically artist showcases as the stories usually left me feeling underwhelmed. I'll probably pick up the Omnibus but I might wait for a decent discount. Which is a gamble with any Marvel omnibus these days, they seem to be purposely underprinting any new omnibus.
