IDW seems to be in deep trouble: laid off 39% of the workforce and the stock seems to be about to be delisted:
https://deadline.com/2023/04/idw-med...ts-1235340419/
It seems to be mainly cuts/losses in the non comics division but their comics division has been dwindling and the stock thing is never good for any company.

I hope that if anything happens Top Shelf can be spun off on its own.

I just started picking up the TMNT best-of trades, I was really hoping those would continue.

The problem with IDW is that they don’t have enough popular IPs that they own. Add to that the amount of money they lost on their film and TV division. Over the past year they lost almost every Hasbro property and Usagi Yojimbo. With the exception of TMNT, their other current licensed and creator owned properties aren’t gaining traction. They also stopped releasing comic strips and have decreased the output of their incredible Artist Edition line.
I really like IDW. Their product is top notch, but they need to find a hit other than TMNT. I thought Canto was going to be it but for some reason that book has gone in hiatus

That sucks. I really like IDW and really enjoyed their Hasbro books (mainly Transformers). Been really enjoying their TMNT line as well.

If this is truly the end for IDW, I hope someone just as good scoops up their current IPs and releases them in the same lovely hardcover collections I've grown used to.
EDIT: If Tom Waltz is indeed staying on as a freelancer, I hope that mean he and Kevin Eastman will keep collaborating on The Last Ronin series, as well as hopefully course correct the mainline TMNT series (I have read that Sophie Campbell isn't terrible but that her YA approach would have best suited a separate continuity).

I love IDW's newspaper comic strip books. They do great work with the Library of American Comics.

I suppose that the scraps from IDW's carcass -- like newspaper strip collections, Top Shelf -- would probably find a good home at Fantagraphics.
I guess they're still solvent. I don't think they've had one of the begging for operating capital fire sales in a while, have they?

That's exactly what happened already. Fantagraphics has taken over the distribution of comic book strips from Disney to Pogo to Popeye. IDW had done excellent work with all those books but now sadly most of them are out of print.Originally Posted by Josh-da-man

Library of American Comics has moved to Clover Press. They’re currently doing the Terry and the Pirates Master Collection and are re-releasing Dick Tracy 1-6 to match the size of the later volumes.
