Picked up the first issues of Hit Me and The Naughty List and really enjoyed them. Looking forward to seeing where these go.

Stan Sakai is the latest to leave IDW and he’s returning with Usagi to Dark Horse under the imprint Dogu.

Are they continuing with the colour format at Dark Horse or go back to B&W? I didn’t see that being indicated in the announcement.

It’s going to be a family affair it seems. I met Stan Sakai and his second wife Julie last year at Fan Expo Toronto. I love Usagi Yojimbo and was so happy to get his signature. I also got hers too since I didn’t want to be rude and tell her that I just wanted her husband lol.

Don’t know if people are aware, but Aftershock Comics filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy last year and there are many stories of creators not being paid for their work. There’s even a story of a creator who learned that his book had been optioned by someone in Hollywood and he never got any payment for it

I suspect that we'll be hearing more stories like this in the near future as all of these new publishers that popped up over the past half decade or so burn through whatever working capital and PPP loans they had.
I read that Aftershock is between ten and fifty million dollars in debt. And I'm like, holy shit, where did they get all of that credit, and where did the money go?

IDW has had to cut licensing expense, this losing Hasbro and Disney/Marvel/Star Wars. Valiant has barely put out any books and it seems that DMG became another Acclaim and it’s on the verge of bankruptcy

I don't even know what Aftershock is. But who's buying 4 to 5 dollar single issue comics from these companies instead of waiting for the trade? It's a problem that even Image titles struggle with so I can't imagine a lot of comics shops stocking these in quantity and selling them.

Aftershock is a comic book publisher that popped up in the late 201x's. They initially came out strong with some name creators like Garth Ennis (A Walk Through Hell, Jimmy's Bastards) but now seem to be putting a lot of books by b-list or entry level creators. Much of their output consists of five issue miniseries, though they do have a few ongoing titles.
Like many of the new publishers that popped up during this time (Ahoy!, Ablaze, AWA, Scout, Vault, etc) that publish similar material aimed at the same audience, they seem to be set up as IP farms to create content to be picked up movie, tv, and streaming producers. These publishers seem to be (or initially were) well capitalized operations that put out full color comic books on a (mostly) regular schedule.
And, yeah, fuji is correct that a lot of the titles these publishers release are miniseries, so a lot of readers will just "wait for the trade," depressing sales. But, as I mentioned above, I suspect that these publishers are more interested in attracting the attention of Hollywood money than actual readers.

I want , but $95.99 is a lot to ask.

Written by top comics author James Tynion IV and beautifully illustrated by Freddie Williams II, the New York Times bestselling crossover series, Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, is now collected in an omnibus format!
Join the Bat and some teenage turtles as they try to save their cities from the baddest of the bad guys!
NEW YORK CITY. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles face the battle of a lifetime, fighting both the fearsome Foot Clan and their leader, the Shredder, and the alien forces of General Krang… which is exactly Krang’s plan. Now a single dimensional warp can rid him of both of his greatest rivals at once.
GOTHAM CITY. From the Penguin to Killer Croc to Ra’s al Ghul and beyond, the caped crime-fighter called Batman already has his hands full protecting his city. Suddenly, a new enemy emerges—the Shredder and his ninja followers, transported to Gotham and unleashed upon an unsuspecting world. Now they’re on the hunt for the technology that will help them return home…and conquer Gotham City in the process. But heroes come in all shapes, and the Dark Knight does not fight alone.
As the Caped Crusader joins forces with Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, Raphael and Master Splinter, can the Bat, the Rat and the Turtles take down the most vicious villains from two dimensions?
DC Comics and IDW Publishing proudly present the Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles omnibus which collects Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1-6; Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II, Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Deluxe Edition, and Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III.

Does anyone actually pay full list on one of these books? I would think it will be available for something in the $60-70 range on release.
Out of curiosity have you read these stories? They're fine, but I didn't think they were anything special. Not sure I ever even finished vol.3.
