Re: George Perez reveals he has inoperable cancer
George is so grateful for the love and support he has received throughout his illness and and his whole career. The love all of you have shown him and Carol in this impossibly hard time is deeply appreciated. For those of you who sent in videos, thank you, George enjoyed them a great deal.
Presently, George is home and resting comfortably. He is not in any pain. There are no visitors or calls at this time, he is sleeping most of the time and is very at peace.

I'm just glad that he got to see just how much he means to so many people. That's a big deal.

Re: George Perez reveals he has inoperable cancer
So sorry to hear this news.
RIP George.
I neglected to mention that back in March I DID find a copy of the JLA/Avengers Hero initiative book. After dropping someone at the airport, I hit the local mall, and a comic shop there was selling copies in exchange for a $150 cancer-fighting donation. I wanted to read the book, and this seemed an appropriate way to allocate copies, so I bit. It was weird because there was no HI mention that I could see, but it did have a 2022 publish date. I haven’t read it yet, but I’m glad I have it.

Damn.
I've rarely seen anyone face death with the grace, dignity, and courage the way George did. The fact that so many people got to send him messages and he saw just how much people loved him, and what effect his work had on literally millions of people is heartwarming. He went out the way I wish all of us could go out. Loved and at peace.
He died the way he lived - with kindness and a great spirit.
It may have come 20 or so years too soon, but the way he went out was perfect.

RIP George! Some of the fondest memory that I have reading comic books was from his books. Thank you very much!

This is a bad year to be a comic book legend. First Neal Adams and now George Perez. I'm so glad the fan community was given a head's up and pour their love out to Perez while he was still with us.

I'm glad he's no longer in pain and was able to say goodbye his way. He and John Byrne will always be my favorite artists.

This one is gutting to me.
I, of course, admired his work, but the stories and links you all have put in this thread the past few months made me an admirer of the man.
R.I.P, Mr. Perez.

No matter what, George had a smile on his face. I can remember seeing him at cons just so happy to see everyone line up to meet him.
It's almost as if he could never get upset. Just put on a smile and deal with it is what most do. But George meant it when he smiled.
This one definitely hurt when it was posted on FB. I had been following his page when it was made and that tells you just how important it was to him to let fans into his life and struggle and to let fans know it was ok.

Some of Perez's best later work, that was never, and will never be collected/re-printed was Ultraforce.
He did something like 10 issues, and also an Avengers crossover with them after Marvel bought out Malibu comics, but the rights are still in a weird purgatory, so getting the old back-issues is the only way to enjoy Perez's great artwork in it. They're not too expensive though. The stories themselves are meh, but as usual, his art really elevates it!

I quite liked a bunch of the Ultraverse, but maybe it was more the concepts and potential than the actual books.
either way, I’ve always meant to finish my runs of the titles as/if I find them in bargain bins.
