If that is the case, then i would consider her a character from a different alternate universe that is now a member of an X-team.

Am I wrong?

I was not reading comics during house of M and I haven't read all of it, nor have I been keeping up with X-Factor, so please if you have a different thought please tell me.
I was reading House of M and X-Factor during that time, and it's a bit fuzzy for me too, but if I'm reading this correctly: http://marvel.wikia.com/Layla_Miller_(Earth-616)

She was different in our time than she was in House of M, but when reality was restored, she was still the same 616 character, but she didn't have her powers anymore (because of the whole "No More Mutants" thing)

^From that Marvel.wikia thing

After defeating Cortex, Anthony Falcone and his Sentinels, both Layla and Madrox were sent back in time via Doctor Doom's Time Platform. Jamie arrived at XF Investigations Headquarters just a few days after he left, but Layla went even further back to arrived at Saint Joan's Orphanage just before she joined X-Factor to give her younger self information about the future.

It is clearly differentiated as a different reality when the Exiles visit there (the wiki goes on to state mojo may be wrong since an ultimate version exists) but nonetheless those Exiles issues should also support that Mojoverse is NOT 616.
An alternate timeline is "new realities branching off from key nodes of a timeline." That's why you have the list of Earth-616, Earth-295 (Age of Apocalypse), Earth-811 (Days of Future Past), etc.

There is no Earth-MojoWorld, because Mojo World is an alternate dimension, not alternate timeline. Case closed.

Not to mention haven't we seen Mojo watching other realities? Again illustrating this is outside the 616. If non-romantic love for Peter counts, Alternate timelines outside of the 616 should count.

Right, which was to explain how she "knows stuff" without any mutant powers. Both versions of Layla are 616 versions though.

I don't see how that conclusion follows. Is there a rule against viewing other realities from within the 616?

Seriously though, I think we've argued Mojo-verse to death. Time for the flock to decide?

Well, I was reluctant at first, but you guys have convinced me: Wolverine should be counted as a correct answer.

Re: Comic/Super-Hero Sheep NOW!

Okay so I think I am ready to rule on some stuff.

1. rockmjd23 did indeed say Beast, not Dark Beast. I think the whole Anthony Michael Hall vs. Michael Anthony Hall debate was weighing on me when I scored this, but these are 2 distinct characters, so:

rockmjd23 gets +7 (net of +5)

2. I have changed my mind on this multiple times in the last 4 hours…I had been convinced that Longshot was also a wrong answer, due to the distinction of dimension vs. Universe. The way I rationalize this is by thinking about life in deep sea trenches. It is a different world, but it doesn’t make it not part of our universe.

I also read that there is a mojo and a longshot in the Ultimate Universe, implying that the Mojo and Longshot of our universe is part of the 616 and current. The X-babies are not alternate versions of the X-Men; they are clones.

With all of that said, I am still close to giving Mhepburn20 credit for Longshot, because the answer fits with the general theme I had in mind for the question in the first place: Longshot is an OTHER who doesn’t belong here, but came here and joined an X-team. But, then I think, how is it different from someone from an alien world coming here. They are an OTHER too but they wouldn’t count. So I have to not give credit. Im sorry Mhepburn20…

Mhepburn20 gets a +7 (net of +8)

3. Cyclops is also a wrong answer due to the wording of the question, asking for only future and alternate timeline…not past. It wasn’t anything I considered when writing the question, but I have to go with the wording of the question. The difference between this is that I asked for people from the future or alternate timeline. Cyclops is from the past which doesn’t fit that definition.

Orangecrush gets a +7 (net of +8)

4. Layla Miller is also a wrong answer. I thought of her as a new character that came here after House of M from that timeline, but I guess I was wrong. In X-Factor, she went to the future and came back, but that isn’t what we were looking for (which is why Cyclops doesn’t count after going to the future and raising Cable). They have to be someone who is displaced, and I don’t think she is. Sorry dalbowski.

Dalbowski gets a +7 (net of +8)

In addition, cnicholls44 (net of -5), rocket1312 (net of -7), and Obi-Wan jabroni (net of -5) all get credit for -6 for unique answers

the difference (to me) is that the Cable of our timeline would be like 10 or something in comic book years, not 50. Cyclops and Jean were not aged, so therefore they are in the appropriate time.

I would have accepted Hope as an answer, because Hope in our present would still be a baby, not a teenager. That isnt the Hope that belongs here.

Re: Comic/Super-Hero Sheep NOW!

I can't disagree with the ruling. I have no idea what the difference between Beast and Dark Beast is, but they have separate Wikipedia articles so it must be right.

Not to open this can of worms. If that's your logic, than I think you have to accept Layla. Layla came back from the the Summers Rebellion aged signifcantly.

Shut up!

Kidding aside, I would distinguish between a character who comes from an alternate future to a character who comes from the present, travels to the future (or another dimension where time passes differently), ages, then returns to right when she left.

I think Hope is in the former category and Layla is in the latter, but I don't know either character that well, so I could be wrong.

I'll be very glad to get past this question so we can start arguing about which dudes in the Marvel Universe we would want to bang.
