I hope you're saying this because you own them in print already. Dark Horse has been publishing the best comics on the planet since the 1980s.

Nope I don't own any Dark Horse.

I cannot believe people paid 4 bucks an issue for this legendary star lord book. Terrible. The book is all about him getting captured, punched in the face, then conveniently the opposition drops their gun or does something dumb. Oh, and flirting with Kitty. One scene in issue two with Kitty... I just have no words. I feel ripped off that I paid five bucks and some people paid 20. Geez.

Is anyone else a bit confused by the new layout / features of the iPad Comixology app.? I find it difficult to do a search that just brings up items I purchased that are in the cloud...maybe after I play around with it a bit more I will be more upbeat, but for now I wish I could revert to an earlier version of the app..

Is there a new update or something? From what I remember, it ONLY shows you what you already bought in the cloud and nothing else, since you can't buy directly from the app anymore.

Yeah, there is a huge new update to the Comixology, DC, and Marvel apps. It adds the ability to track what you've read for one, which hopefully will be well implemented. I haven't messed around with it much, but yeah, it is a bit confusing at first use.

Trevor...I suspect that when it comes time to re-download the books I have not yet read on a new iPad the ability to mark books as read (whether they are in the cloud or already downloaded to your device) will be a godsend. I grumbled when they took away in-app. purchases, but I adjusted to the change in fairly short order.

Just for clarity, there is a lot of new not-bundled-yet material in this Dynamite Recent Hits sale. 8 collections are at more than 50% off and 142 singles are at $.99; sale ends 6/26/15. Like a dummy, I bought some of it; so that guarantees it'll be soon bundled for pennies an issue for the rest of you. In my defense, I only bought "digital exclusive editions", which may or may not have material that is on Comixology only.

From Hexagon, unknown duration, the five volumes of Phenix are on sale for $1.99 each instead of the usual $4.98. It's originally a French comic started in 1978, these are English translations. Anyone ever read this?
https://www.comixology.com/PHENIX/comics-series/25195

Another Garth Ennis bundle-only sale from Avatar, unknown duration, 12 issues of Chronicles of Wormwood for $14.99. Given the company and creator, this is obviously adults only. Anyone ever read this?

The new Smart View is a bit of a mess. Recently purchased and downloaded are helpful. "In Progress" is kind of a waste. I know what I've been reading.

I had a couple series that showed me having double comics, some on the device, some in the cloud all out of order. Deleting the comics from my iPad, archiving the series and unarchiving them seemed to fix the issue.

Hopefully they refine it over time, because right now it just seems like a jumble of stuff. I'll just keep using My Books to navigate.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

BGPu...yeah, I am sticking to My Books, and I do hope that they refine it over time because you nailed it by saying the Smart View is a mess.

I had another issue with comixology prior to the update, my Marvel Premiere HC digital codes would be entered on the Marvel site, and in the past they would automatically sync up with my comixology account (I have comixology/marvel linked), but now I had to download a separate app., where they do show up and allow me to use the guided view.

It is clear that comixology is in a transitional phase and some bugs are popping up that will need to be addressed in short order.

I have updates set to auto-download on my iPad, but if you are getting a notification that there is an update to the comixology app., yes...probably a good idea to hold off on installing the latest version.

It won't hurt anything to try it. If you don't like the new stuff you can just keep using it the way you were.

The weekly podcast freebies seem to always be things I've already bought because they're great books. This week's is HENCHPOD for a free copy of Henchmen #1 and the one-shot, so two fun books for free. Enter the code at the below link. https://www.comixology.com/redeem

A new freebie at Comixology, Death in Oaxaca #1.

I guess it's still LGBTQ month, because here's another Strangers in Paradise sale; ends 6/29/15 and has 19 collections and 110 singles.
https://www.comixology.com/Strangers...Sale/page/7184

Archaia/Boom has a sci-if sale until 6/29/15, 7 collections and 32 singles. I think they had one of these last year, although everything isn't marked as owned in my account, so maybe not.

Bleeding Cool is reporting that Comixology will be unveiling an "Unlimited" service. Not sure how I feel.

It seems like Comixology is shooting itself in the foot on the verge of trending popularity of digital comics; seemingly this might make publishers hesitant to go all in with the outlet and Bleeding Cool points out it could most negatively impact indie publishers. In the short term a subscription service might be good (more readers, cheaper costs) but long term it feels like a setback to me.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

Several newish foreign language sales at Comixology.
https://www.comixology.com/comics-sale

New freebie.
https://www.comixology.com/Boys-Over...l-comic/251217

Marvel Monday is the second sale on Uncanny Avengers.
issues 1-25, 8AU, and Annual 1 of the 2012+ series
https://www.comixology.com/Uncanny-A...Sale/page/7194

Several other sales end today, including Ghostbusters, Strangers in Paradise, and Archaia/Boom Science Fiction.

But why buy anything if Unlimited is coming? That is the big question now.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

I don't think unlimited is coming.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

I won't pretend to have the business/economics insight needed to predict what a Comixology subscription service would mean for the industry, but as a consumer I would be all over this (depending on cost/content). Marvel Unlimited is pretty much the only reason I got back into reading comics the last couple of years and I think it's one of the very best values in entertainment right now.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

Seems like even if this is true, they're not going to force everyone to join in (I'm sure Marvel would balk, at the very least) and they're certainly going to keep a delay between what's available and what just came out. On the other hand, if they force the model, especially because they're backed by amazon, I can see some of the bigger companies going off on their own (DC?), and I really don't want my issues fragmented between multiple apps/companies.
