It's odd that Comixology would run a promo code sale on a series that seems to have been abandoned digitally. There are at least 2 digitally unpublished issues that have long had print editions.
From looking at Wikipedia, it looks like the last issue was released in 2007 and they have two more issues to do to finish the series. They claimed the issues would be out in 2015, but so far there's been no sign of them. Maybe they'll release 5 & 6 digitally when (if) 7 & 8 get released? |

The San Diego Comic Con sales have begun! This time of year typically ends up having lots of Twitter and podcast freebies, so keep your eyes and ears open.
From Skybound, ending 7/12/15, comes this huge lineup of $.99 singles and heavily discounted collections: 25 free first issues 165 The Walking Dead items 142 Invincible items 130 other Skybound items https://www.comixology.com/Skybound-Sale/page/7296 A collection sale from DC, ending 7/13/15, 26 collections at up to 80% off. https://www.comixology.com/DC-Events-Sale/page/7312 Dark Horse also having a SDCC sale ending 7/13/15, 23 books at roughly 62% off. https://www.comixology.com/Dark-Horse-SDCC-Sale Newish set of bundles from Viz on sale; the Dragonball bundles include a book that is exclusive to the bundles (curse you Viz!). https://www.comixology.com/Viz-Bundl...Sale/list/7327 |
Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)
It sucks that Skybound is giving away the first issue of each Witch Doctor series, but isn't putting the rest of the issues on sale.

I'm pretty sure they're all on sale in the dark horse app too. How odd. Now I'm conflicted.

Seems easy to me on Dark Horse stuff. Once a year everything they make is a minimum of 60% off on their app/website. No reason to even consider buying their stuff any other time or any other place.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)
Sequential gets into the summer sale bandwagon with over 350 collections at 50-90% off.
http://www.sequential.cc Dark Horse has an as-of-yet unannounced sale on nearly everything. Prices are pretty much the annual sale prices, with non-current singles at $1 and $5 collections. Not sure if there are any discount codes. https://digital.darkhorse.com/browse/ Huge Marvel sale at Comixology on Infinity singles at $.99 and twenty new collections at a steeply discounted $5 each. Infinity main event - 24 singles Infinity tie-in issues - 31 singles https://www.comixology.com/Infinity-...Sale/page/7360 That Comixology Dark Horse sale I posted yesterday has expanded with 64 additional collections at 40-50% off. https://www.comixology.com/Dark-Hors...Sale/page/7297 |

Not just collections apparently, but almost everything is priced like in an annual sale. I wonder if there is a promo code floating around....
And minutes later I contradict myself and buy stuff on Dark Horse. And so, apparently do I. I just swore off of DC singles in another thread and am still tempted by stuff like the Doomed trade at a deep discount even though I suspect it's crap, and it collects issues from a crossover so I'll never keep track of it. At least it's not singles. This is like the fourth time it's been on sale, but is Infinity any good? |
Re: spammer?
It's cool that Dark Horse Digital discounts their bundles when they have 50% off sales, which makes them the best deal around (usually ~60% without any coupons); i.e. Colder v2 trade is $7.99 (@50% off) on Comixology but the same singles bundled on DHD are $4 - it almost seems passive aggressive.

Spoiler:
Most of the Infinity tie-ins are not essential especially Avengers Assemble and Captain Marvel, which are unintentionally comical in directly rehashing the main event script again and again. |

New Mad Max comic is out. Max is in Gas Town looking for parts to rebuild the Interceptor. This one looks to be part 1 of 2 in the storyline.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)
I'm just going to treat the digital variants how I treated physical variants: If I like one more than the main cover, I'll buy it instead.
I'm not going to buy up all the variants in a "gotta collect them all" type of thing. I always thought that was silly. |

I have the Doomed HC, but for $5 for the digital I bit on the deal...great price for a $40 HC, and I can now throw the HC on the huge pile of New 52 Books I will be selling.

About the variant covers: from what I've seen, they usually include all the variant covers in the digital issues themselves, which is why this limited time thing seems odd; can you really make a digital item you don't really own some kind of collectible? |

I think it is a steal at $5 even if you go into the event blind with no idea of whether or not folks though it was decent, or another event in a long string of New 52 Superman event stories that fell flat. |
