But Voodoo was always a stripper. Anything in particular happen in that issue?

Come to think of it, didn't Grifter already come out too? I don't think I remember seeing much posted here about that.

Just a ton of strippers and people being in various states of unclothed throughout the entire thing.

I really liked Aquaman and Flash this week. The layouts/artwork in Flash were goddamn fantastic and I loved the direction Johns took with the reintroduction to Aquaman. Justice League Dark was all kinds of awesome too. But All Star Western...... It was fantastic all around.

Good to hear. I'm really looking forward to this one!

I'll preface this by saying that I actually liked Grifter in the Wildstorm Universe. I can't tell you why since he strikes me as essentially Wolverine lite to me.

Regardless, I read Grifter 1 and I wont' be coming back for more. Too much set up, not enough payoff. It was not good.

Hey, y'all! DC has a survey through Nielsen Ratings for The New 52. I just completed it and I feel pretty satisfied that I had a chance to express my thoughts about all this. I suspect you'll want to take it. I've been informed via Twitter there's a U.S. bias, so my apologies to our non-American friends.

Just took it. Can't talk about it or Johnny DC will sue me. Sorry. As a political science major who took lots of public opinion/polling classes, I always like looking at surveys and their controls.

Hey, I didn't say anything about discussing the survey; just takin' it! :P

I did the entire survey and then got this message at the very end:

Thank you for sharing your opinions!

Thanks a lot. Unfortunately, you do not qualify for this particular survey.
WTF?

Weird. Mine went through.

I was rejected as well. I think you have to say you bought a certain number of titles for you to qualify. Which means they aren't interested in whether or not you bought the books and why, but are probably trying to track if you are a new reader and what drove your purchase decision if you are.

Can you tell I work for an ACN competitor?

DC really screwed the pooch. I can't imagine the millions of copies they could have sold of Red Hood had Starfire been portrayed more conservatively. Oh sure they kept their core fanbase of nerdy fanboys happy, but still… millions of copies. *sigh*

This is sarcasm right? Just want to make sure, since it's nowhere near the case.

Apparently, Patton Oswald is swearing off DC because of this survey:

Early today, Bleeding Cool reported that DC had hired Nielsen NRG to carry out a series of surveys on the reception of the DC New 52 Relaunch. Linked to the online survey (including questions about a mysterious comic called Nekar, and confirmation that trade paperbacks of the New 52 would start in the Spring.)

But we also reported there would be physical surveys and interviews, conducted in stores with retailers and customers alike.

And it looks like they may have got a bit heavy.

Comedian and comic book fan Patton Oswalt started tweeting his experience at Meltdown Comics in Los Angeles today.

Don’t go to Meltdown Comics today unless you like getting buttonholed into douch-ey, stultifying “New 52″ surveys. #jesusFUCK

I also bought my last DC comics, EVER, today.
When TV Guide Network Associate Producer John McCracken added his own experience, “I said “no” and walked away. Easy enough”, Patton replied;

So did I. The first 3 times.
Meltdown Comics tried to broker an accord.

got love for you always as one of our oldest customers, today at Meltdown is a total derail from our normal Wednesday selves.
Patton replied

Forgiven. Never again? Please?

Everyone — Meltdown Comics is cool, they got fucked just like their customers. But DC Comics? ‘Bye!
I’m not sure that’s exactly the response DC Comics was after with this survey…
Bleeding Cool

I wonder if they were just overzealous in general or if they recognized him and really wanted his input (to put on ads and whatnot). Also some buzz about the 53rd title in that survey, Nerak (or Karen spelled backwards).

Re: DC UNIVERSE Reboots in September, Same Day Digital Linewide

I found myself wishing that survey had an option for "read it, thought it sucked, put it back" instead of "read it, don't own it" (or whatever that one was).

Holy crap! His 12 Twitter followers must be just as pissed! I mean, lord forbid a major company try to get feedback through a survey!

The survey is like Fight Club damn it!!!

Think of all the people who wanted to fill out that survey, Patton. You've just thrown away an entire meal in front of hungry people.

I wasn't there, so I can't speak to how anything went down at Midtown Comics. I do know that I have a hard time believing that Oswalt really won't ever again buy a DC comic. It's a rather absolute position to take for a reason as flimsy as, "This one time, someone kept asking me what I thought about stuff they made that I bought."

Three local stores were already sold out of Aquaman at lunchtime today. Damn...

This week had a good batch of books. It's the most I spent on the New 52 titles.

Re: DC UNIVERSE Reboots in September, Same Day Digital Linewide

Just read and reviewed Action Comics #1. I initially resisted because paying an extra dollar an issue for the "young, edgy" Superman that seems laughable to me didn't hold much appeal but I heard enough good word of mouth that when I found one last copy at Barnes and Noble this past Sunday, I splurged. I was surprised that it read better than I feared and I liked the pace, but honestly I just don't see me paying $4 a pop for this series on a monthly basis.

Aquaman and Flash both made me :) REALLY fun, REALLY enjoyable books, both of them. Well done, DC.

Teen Titans was GOOD. Solid, great art, looking forward to what's next.

Re: DC UNIVERSE Reboots in September, Same Day Digital Linewide

I just finished this week's books, and I have to say that I enjoyed them all. The standout for me was All-Star Western. Loved it. The weakest was Voodoo. Not because of all of the T&A, but because there wasn't much story there. I am curious to see where it will go though.

As far as the next month is concerned, I'm most excited for Animal Man, Frankenstein, Demon Knights, and All-Star Western. I will get those and a few more, but I can wait for TPBs for most of the rest that get good reviews. The only titles I have already decided to not keep up with have "Legion" or "International" in the name.

I really liked how they dealt with everyone thinking Aquaman was a joke without making Aquaman be an actual joke.
